Sacharja 1

1 Im achten Monat des zweiten Jahres des Darius erging das Wort Jahwes an den Propheten Sacharja, den Sohn Berechjas, des Sohnes Iddos, folgendermaßen:

In the eight moneth of the second yeere of Darius, came the worde of the Lord vnto Zechariah the sonne of Berechiah, the sonne of Iddo, the Prophet, saying,

2 Jahwe hat heftig über eure Väter gezürnt.

The Lord hath bene sore displeased with your fathers.

3 Sprich daher zu ihnen: So spricht Jahwe der Heerscharen: Bekehrt euch zu mir, ist der Spruch Jahwes der Heerscharen, so werde ich mich wieder zu euch kehren, spricht Jahwe der Heerscharen.

Therefore say thou vnto them, Thus sayth the Lord of hostes, Turne ye vnto me, saith the Lord of hostes, and I will turne vnto you, saith the Lord of hostes.

4 Seid doch nicht wie eure Väter, denen die früheren Propheten zugerufen haben: So spricht Jahwe der Heerscharen: Bekehrt euch doch von euren bösen Wegen und euren bösen Thaten! - aber sie haben nicht gehört, noch auf mich geachtet, ist der Spruch Jahwes.

Be ye not as your fathers, vnto whome the former prophets haue cried, saying, Thus sayth the Lord of hostes, Turne you nowe from your euill wayes, and from your wicked workes: but they would not heare, nor hearken vnto me, saith the Lord.

5 Eure Väter - wo sind sie? und die Propheten - können sie ewig leben?

your fathers, where are they? and doe the Prophets liue for euer?

6 Aber meine Worte und meine Beschlüsse, die ich meinen Knechten, den Propheten, aufgetragen hatte, nicht wahr? - die haben eure Väter doch so getroffen, daß sie anderes Sinnes wurden und sich sagen mußten: Gleichwie Jahwe der Heerscharen sich vorgenommen hatte, je nach unseren Wegen und nach unseren Thaten mit uns zu verfahren, so ist er mit uns verfahren!

But did not my wordes and my statutes, which I commanded by my seruants ye Prophets, take holde of your fathers? and they returned, and sayd, As the Lord of hostes hath determined to doe vnto vs, according to our owne wayes, and according to our workes, so hath hee dealt with vs.

7 Am vierundzwanzigsten Tage des elften Monats, d. i. des Monats Schebat, im zweiten Jahre des Darius, erging das Wort Jahwes an den Propheten Sacharja, den Sohn Berechjas, des Sohnes Iddos, folgendermaßen:

Vpon the foure and twentieth day of the eleuenth moneth, which is the moneth Shebat, in the second yeere of Darius, came the worde of the Lord vnto Zechariah the sonne of Berechiah, the sonne of Iddo the Prophet, saying,

8 Ich hatte des nachts ein Gesicht: ein Mann nämlich, der auf einem rotbraunen Rosse saß, hielt zwischen den Myrten, die im Thalgrunde stehen, und hinter ihm rotbraune, fuchsrote und weiße Rosse.

I saw by night, and behold a man riding vpon a red horse, and hee stood among the mirre trees, that were in a bottome, and behinde him were there red horses speckeled and white.

9 Als ich nun fragte: O Herr, was haben diese zu bedeuten? sagte der Engel, der mit mir redete, zu mir: Ich will dir zeigen, was diese da zu bedeuten haben.

Then sayd I, O my Lord, what are these? And the Angel that talked with me, sayde vnto me, I wil shew thee what these be.

10 Da nahm der Mann, der zwischen den Myrten hielt, das Wort und sprach: Das sind die, welche Jahwe ausgesandt hat, die Erde zu durchstreifen!

And the man that stood among the mirre trees, answered, and sayd, These are they whome the Lord hath sent to go through the world.

11 Die richteten nun das Wort an den Engel Jahwes, der zwischen den Myrten hielt, und sprachen: Wir haben die Erde durchstreift, und es befand sich, daß die ganze Erde in Ruhe und Stille liegt.

And they answered the Angel of the Lord, that stood among the mirre trees, and sayd, We haue gone thorowe the world: and beholde, all the world sitteth still, and is at rest.

12 Da hob der Engel Jahwes an und sprach: Jahwe der Heerscharen, wie lange willst du denn unbarmherzig bleiben gegen Jerusalem und die Städte Judas, denen du nun schon siebzig Jahre lang grollst?

Then the Angel of the Lord answered and sayd, O Lord of hostes, howe long wilt thou be vnmercifull to Ierusalem, and to the cities of Iudah, with whom thou hast bene displeased now these threescore and ten yeeres?

13 Da antwortete Jahwe dem Engel, der mit mir redete, glückverheißende Worte, trostreiche Worte,

And the Lord answered the Angel that talked with me, with good wordes and comfortable wordes.

14 und der Engel, der mit mir redete, sprach zu mir: Verkündige laut und sprich: So spricht Jahwe der Heerscharen: Ich brenne vor großem Eifer für Jerusalem und Zion

So the Angel that communed with me, said vnto me, Crie thou, and speake, Thus saith the Lord of hostes, I am ielous ouer Ierusalem and Zion with a great zeale,

15 und bin in heftigem Zorn über die sorglos ruhigen Nationen entbrannt, die, als ich ein wenig zornig war, eigenmächtig zum Unglücke mithalfen.

And am greatly angrie against the carelesse heathen: for I was angrie but a litle, and they helped forward the affliction.

16 Darum spricht Jahwe also: Ich wende mich erbarmend Jerusalem wieder zu: mein Tempel soll darin wieder aufgebaut werden, ist der Spruch Jahwes der Heerscharen, und die Meßschnur soll über Jerusalem ausgespannt werden.

Therefore thus saith the Lord, I wil returne vnto Ierusalem with tender mercie: mine house shall be builded in it, saith the Lord of hostes, and a line shall be stretched vpon Ierusalem.

17 Ferner verkündige laut und sprich: So spricht Jahwe der Heerscharen: Fortan werden sich meine Städte vor Wohlergehen weit ausdehnen, und Jahwe wird Zion wiederum trösten und Jerusalem wiederum erwählen.

Cry yet, and speake, Thus saith the Lord of hostes, My cities shall yet be broken with plentie: the Lord shall yet comfort Zion, and shall yet chuse Ierusalem.

18 Ich blickte auf und sah, da zeigten sich auf einmal vier Hörner.

Then lift I vp mine eyes and sawe, and beholde, foure hornes.

19 Als ich nun den Engel, der mit mir redete, fragte: Was haben diese zu bedeuten? sprach er zu mir: Das sind die Hörner, die Juda, Israel und Jerusalem verstreut haben.

And I said vnto the Angel that talked with me, What be these? And hee answered me, These are the hornes which haue scattered Iudah, Israel, and Ierusalem.

20 Sodann ließ mich Jahwe vier Schmiede schauen,

And the Lord shewed me foure carpenters.

21 und als ich fragte: Was wollen die thun? antwortete er folgendermaßen: Jenes sind die Hörner, die Juda dermaßen verstreut haben, daß niemand mehr sein Haupt erhob; diese aber sind gekommen, um sie in Schrecken zu setzen, um die Hörner der Nationen niederzuschlagen, die das Horn wider das Land Juda erhoben, um es zu verstreuen.

Then said I, What come these to doe? And he answered, and said, These are the hornes, which haue scattered Iudah, so that a man durst not lift vp his head: but these are come to fray them, and to cast out the hornes of the Gentiles, which lift vp their horne ouer the land of Iudah, to scatter it.
