Psalm 42
1 Dem Musikmeister. Ein Maskil von den Korachiten. Wie eine Hirschkuh, die da lechzt nach Wasserbächen, so lechzt meine Seele nach dir, o Gott.
To the choirmaster a poem of [the] sons of Korah. Like a deer [which] it pants towards channels of water so being my it pants to you O God.
2 Meine Seele dürstet nach Gott, dem lebendigen Gott: wann werde ich hingelangen und erscheinen vor Gottes Angesicht?
It thirsts being my - for God for [the] God living when? will I go and I may appear? [the] presence of God.
3 Meine Thränen wurden meine Speise Tag und Nacht, da sie immerfort zu mir sagten: “Wo ist nun dein Gott?”
It has been of me tear[s] my food by day and night when say to me all the day where? [is] God your.
4 Daran will ich gedenken und ausschütten mein Herz in mir, wie ich dahinzog im Gedränge, sie leitete zum Hause Gottes unter lautem Jubel und Dank, eine festliche Menge.
These [things] I will remember - and I will pour out on myself - soul my that I passed on - with the crowd I led them to [the] house of God with [the] sound of a shout of joy and thanksgiving a multitude celebrating a festival.
5 Was bist du gebeugt, meine Seele, und tobst in mir? Harre auf Gott! Denn noch werde ich ihn preisen als Hilfe für mich und als meinen Gott.
Why? are you bowed down - O soul my and were you in turmoil? on me wait for God for again I will give thanks to him [the] salvation of presence his.
6 Meine Seele ist gebeugt in mir; darum gedenke ich deiner vom Jordanland und den Hermonbergen her, vom kleinen Berge.
O God my on me being my it is bowed down there-fore I will remember you from [the] land of [the] Jordan and Hermon from mount Mizar.
7 Eine Flut ruft der andern beim Rauschen deiner Wasserfälle; alle deine Wogen und Wellen gingen über mich.
Deep to deep [is] calling to [the] sound waterfalls your all breakers your and waves your over me they have passed.
8 Am Tage entbietet Jahwe seine Gnade, und des Nachts gilt ihm mein Lied, ein Gebet zum Gotte meines Lebens.

9 Ich spreche zu Gott, der mein Fels ist: Warum hast du meiner vergessen? Warum muß ich trauernd einhergehen ob der Bedrückung durch Feinde?

10 Wie Wurmfraß in meinen Gebeinen verhöhnten mich meine Bedränger, da sie immerfort zu mir sagten: “Wo ist nun dein Gott?”

11 Was bist du gebeugt, meine Seele, und tobst in mir? Harre auf Gott! Denn noch werde ich ihn preisen als Hilfe für mich und als meinen Gott.
