Psalm 36

1 Dem Musikmeister. Vom Knechte Jahwes, von David. Eine Eingebung der Sünde wird dem Gottlosen im Innern seines Herzens zu teil; es giebt vor seinen Augen keinen Schrecken Gottes.

THE transgression of the wicked saith within my heart, that there is no fear of God before his eyes.

2 Denn sie hat sanft gegen ihn gethan in seinen Augen, daß seine Verschuldung kund werde, und ihn Haß treffe.

For he flattereth himself in his own eyes, until his iniquity be found to be hateful.

3 Die Worte seines Mundes sind Frevel und Trug; er hat's aufgegeben, klug zu sein, gut zu handeln.

The words of his mouth are iniquity and deceit: he hath left off to be wise, and to do good.

4 Frevel sinnt er auf seinem Lager; er tritt auf einen unguten Weg, Böses verabscheut er nicht.

He deviseth mischief upon his bed; he setteth himself in a way that is not good; he abhorreth not evil.

5 Jahwe, bis an den Himmel reicht deine Gnade, deine Treue bis zu den Wolken.

Thy mercy, O Lord, is in the heavens; and thy faithfulness reacheth unto the clouds.

6 Deine Gerechtigkeit ist wie die Berge Gottes, deine Gerichte wie die große Flut; Menschen und Vieh hilfst du, Jahwe.

Thy righteousness is like the great mountains; thy judgments are a great deep: O Lord, thou preservest man and beast.

7 Wie köstlich ist deine Gnade, o Gott! Die Menschenkinder bergen sich im Schatten deiner Flügel.

How excellent is thy lovingkindness, O God! therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of thy wings.

8 Sie laben sich vom Fette deines Hauses, und mit dem Bache deiner Wonnen tränkst du sie.

They shall be abundantly satisfied with the fatness of thy house; and thou shalt make them drink of the river of thy pleasures.

9 Denn bei dir ist die Quelle des Lebens; in deinem Lichte schauen wir Licht!

For with thee is the fountain of life: in thy light shall we see light.

10 Laß deine Gnade fortwähren denen, die dich kennen, und deine Gerechtigkeit denen, die redliches Herzens sind.

O continue thy lovingkindness unto them that know thee; and thy righteousness to the upright in heart.

11 Laß nicht den Fuß des Übermuts über mich kommen, noch die Hand der Gottlosen mich in die Irre jagen!

Let not the foot of pride come against me, and let not the hand of the wicked remove me.

12 Daselbst fielen die Übelthäter, wurden umgestoßen und vermochten sich nicht wieder zu erheben.

There are the workers of iniquity fallen: they are cast down, and shall not be able to rise.
