Psalm 16
1 Ein Mikhtam Davids. Behüte mich, Gott! denn bei dir suche ich Zuflucht.
Michtam of David. Preserve me, O God: for in thee do I put my trust.
2 Ich spreche zu Jahwe: Du bist mein Herr, es giebt für mich kein Gut außer dir!
[O my soul], thou hast said to the LORD, Thou [art] my LORD: my goodness [extendeth] not to thee;
3 Die Heiligen, die im Lande sind, sie sind die Herrlichen, an denen ich all' mein Wohlgefallen habe.
[But] to the saints that [are] in the earth, and [to] the excellent, in whom [is] all my delight.
4 Zahlreich sind die Schmerzen derer, die einen andern Gott eingetauscht haben; ich mag ihre Blut-Trankopfer nicht spenden, noch ihre Namen auf die Lippen nehmen!
Their sorrows shall be multiplied [that] hasten [after] another [god]: their drink-offerings of blood will I not offer, nor take their names into my lips.
5 Jahwe ist mein Erb- und Becherteil; du stützest mein Los!
The LORD [is] the portion of my inheritance and of my cup: thou maintainest my lot.
6 Die Meßschnüre sind für mich aufs Lieblichste gefallen, und mein Erbe gefällt mir wohl.
The lines have fallen to me in pleasant [places]; yes, I have a goodly heritage.
7 Ich preise Jahwe, der mich beraten hat, und in den Nächten mahnen mich meine Nieren.
I will bless the LORD, who hath given me counsel: my reins also instruct me in the night season.
8 Ich habe Jahwe beständig vor mir stehn: wenn er zu meiner Rechten ist, werde ich nicht wanken.
I have set the LORD always before me: because [he is] at my right hand, I shall not be moved.
9 Darum freut sich mein Herz und frohlockt meine Seele, und mein Leib ruht in Sicherheit.
Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoiceth: my flesh also shall rest in hope.
10 Denn du überlässest mein Leben nicht der Unterwelt, giebst nicht zu, daß dein Frommer die Grube schaue. (Sheol h7585)
For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt thou suffer thy Holy One to see corruption. (Sheol h7585)
11 Du wirst mich erfahren lassen den Lebenspfad: Freuden vollauf vor deinem Angesichte, Wonnen in deiner Rechten ewiglich!
Thou wilt show me the path of life: in thy presence [is] fullness of joy; at thy right hand [are] pleasures for evermore.
