Psalm 149

1 Rühmet Jah! Singt Jahwe ein neues Lied; sein Lobpreis erschalle in der Gemeinde der Frommen.

Praise Adonai! Sing to Adonai a new song, his tehilah ·praise song· in the assembly of the saints.

2 Israel freue sich über seinen Schöpfer, die Söhne Zions sollen über ihren König frohlocken.

Let Israel [God prevails] rejoice in him who made them. Let the children of Zion [Mountain ridge, Marking] be joyful in their King.

3 Sie sollen seinen Namen rühmen unter Reigentanz, mit Pauken und Zithern ihm lobsingen.

Let them praise his name in the dance! Let them sing zahmar ·musical praise· to him with tambourine and harp!

4 Denn Jahwe hat an seinem Volke Wohlgefallen; er schmückt die Gebeugten mit Heil.

For Adonai takes pleasure in his people. He crowns the humble with yishu'ah ·salvation·.

5 Die Frommen sollen jauchzen ob der Herrlichkeit, auf ihren Lagern jubeln.

Let the saints rejoice in kavod ·weighty glory·. Let them sing for joy on their beds.

6 Lobpreis Gottes sei in ihrem Munde und ein zweischneidiges Schwert in ihrer Hand,

May the high praises of God be in their mouths, and a two-edged sword in their hand;

7 Rache an den Heiden zu vollstrecken, Züchtigungen an den Nationen,

To execute vengeance on the nations, and punishments on the peoples;

8 ihre Könige mit Ketten zu binden und ihre Edlen mit eisernen Fesseln,

To bind their kings with chains, and their nobles with fetters of iron;

9 längst aufgezeichnetes Gericht an ihnen zu vollstrecken: hohe Ehre ist solches für alle seine Frommen. Rühmet Jah!
