Psalm 143
1 Ein Psalm Davids. Jahwe, höre mein Gebet, horch auf mein Flehen; nach deiner Treue erhöre mich, nach deiner Gerechtigkeit,
A Melody of David. O Yahweh, hear my prayer, Give ear to my supplications, In thy faithfulness, answer me, in thy righteousness.
2 und gehe nicht ins Gericht mit deinem Knecht, denn vor dir ist kein Lebendiger gerecht.
Do not then enter into judgment with thy servant, for no one living, can appear just before thee.
3 Denn der Feind hat mich verfolgt, hat mein Leben zu Boden getreten, mich in tiefe Finsternis versetzt wie in der Urzeit Verstorbene.
For an enemy hath pursued my soul, hath crushed, to the earth, my life, hath made me dwell in dark places, like the ancient dead.
4 Es verzagt in mir mein Geist, mein Herz erstarrt in meinem Inneren.
Therefore hath my spirit, fainted concerning myself, Within me, hath, my heart, been confounded.
5 Ich gedenke der Tage der Vorzeit, sinne über all' dein Thun, bedenke das Werk deiner Hände.
I have remembered the days of aforetime, I have talked with myself of every deed of thine, Of the work of thy hands, I would speak:
6 Ich breite meine Hände zu dir aus; meine Seele lechzt nach dir, wie lechzendes Land. (Sela)
I have spread out my hands unto thee, My soul, is as a thirsty land, for thee. (Selah)
7 Eilends erhöre mich, Jahwe! Es schmachtet mein Geist: Verbirg dein Angesicht nicht vor mir, daß ich nicht denen gleich werde, die in die Grube hinabgefahren.
Speedily answer me, O Yahweh, My spirit faileth, —Do not hide thy face from me, or I shall be made like unto them who go down into the pit.
8 Laß mich am Morgen deine Gnade hören, denn auf dich vertraue ich; thue mir kund den Weg, den ich gehen soll, denn zu dir erhebe ich meine Seele!
Let me hear, in the morning, thy lovingkindness, for, in thee, have, I trusted, —Let me know the way in which I should walk, for, unto thee, have I uplifted my soul.
9 Errette mich von meinen Feinden, Jahwe, denn auf dich harre ich.
Rescue me from my foes, O Yahweh, Unto thee, have I come seeking refuge.
10 Lehre mich nach deinem Wohlgefallen thun, denn du bist mein Gott: dein guter Geist leite mich auf ebener Bahn!
Teach me to do thy good pleasure, for, thou, art my God, —Thy spirit, is good, thou wilt set me down to rest in a level land.
11 Um deines Namens willen, Jahwe, erhalte mich am Leben; kraft deiner Gerechtigkeit befreie meine Seele aus der Not!
For the sake of thy Name, O Yahweh, wilt thou give unto me life, In thy righteousness, wilt thou bring forth, out of distress, my soul;
12 Und kraft deiner Gnade vertilge meine Feinde und vernichte alle, die mich bedrängen, denn ich bin dein Knecht!
And, in thy lovingkindness, wilt thou exterminate my foes, —and destroy all the adversaries of my soul, because, I, am thy servant.
