4 Mose 22
1 Hierauf zogen die Israeliten weiter und lagerten sich in den Steppen Moabs, jenseits des Jordan gegenüber Jericho.
And they set out [the] people of Israel and they encamped in [the] plains of Moab from [the] other side of [the] Jordan of Jericho.
2 Balak, der Sohn Zipors, aber sah alles, was die Israeliten den Amoritern zufügten.
And he saw Balak [the] son of Zippor all that it had done Israel to the Amorite[s].
3 Da gerieten die Moabiter in große Furcht vor dem Volke; denn dasselbe war zahlreich, und den Moabitern wurde angst und bange vor den Israeliten.
And it was afraid Moab because of the people exceedingly for [was] numerous it and it felt dread Moab because of [the] people of Israel.
4 Da sprachen die Moabiter zu den Vornehmsten der Midianiter: Wie es jetzt steht, wird dieser Haufe alles, was sich in unserer Umgebung findet, aufessen, wie die Stiere alles Grüne auf den Feldern abfressen. Balak, der Sohn Zipors, war aber zu jener Zeit König über die Moabiter.
And it said Moab to [the] elders of Midian now they will lick up the company all around us as licks up the ox [the] greenery of the field and Balak [the] son of Zippor [was] king of Moab at the time that.
5 Da sandte er Boten an Bileam, den Sohn Beors, nach Pethor, das am Euphrat liegt, nach dem Lande seiner Volksgenossen, um ihn herbeizurufen, und ließ ihm sagen: Da ist ein Volk aus Ägypten ausgezogen, das hat das Land weit und breit überflutet und nun lagert es mir gegenüber.
And he sent messengers to Balaam [the] son of Beor Pethor towards which [was] at the river [the] land of [the] sons of people his to summon him saying here! a people it has come out from Egypt here! it has covered [the] eye of the land and it [is] dwelling from in front of me.
6 So komm nun und verfluche mir dieses Volk, denn es ist mir zu mächtig; vielleicht kann ich ihm dann eine Niederlage beibringen und es aus dem Lande vertreiben. Ich weiß ja: wen du segnest, der bleibt gesegnet, und wem du fluchst, der bleibt verflucht!
And therefore come! please curse! for me the people this for [is too] mighty it for me perhaps I will be able to strike it and I will drive out it from the land for I know [the one] whom you bless [is] blessed and [the one] whom you curse he is cursed.
7 Da brachen die Vornehmsten der Moabiter und die Vornehmsten der Midianiter auf, indem sie Wahrsagerlohn mitnahmen, gelangten zu Bileam und richteten ihm den Auftrag Balaks aus.
And they went [the] elders of Moab and [the] elders of Midian and divinations [were] in hand their and they came to Balaam and they spoke to him [the] words of Balak.
8 Er aber antwortete ihnen: Bleibt heute Nacht hier, so will ich euch Bescheid geben, je nachdem Jahwe mich anweisen wird. Da blieben die Häuptlinge der Moabiter bei Bileam.
And he said to them lodge here this night and I will bring back you word just as he will speak Yahweh to me and they remained [the] leaders of Moab with Balaam.
9 Gott aber kam zu Bileam und fragte ihn: Wer sind die Männer, die da bei dir sind?
And he came God to Balaam and he said who? [are] the men these with you.
10 Bileam antwortete Gott: Balak, der Sohn Zipors, der König von Moab, hat mir Botschaft gesandt:
And he said Balaam to God Balak [the] son of Zippor [the] king of Moab he sent to me.
11 Da ist ein Volk, das aus Ägypten ausgezogen ist und das ganze Land weit und breit überflutet hat; so komm nun und verwünsche mir dasselbe; vielleicht bin ich dann imstande, es zu bekämpfen und es zu vertreiben.
Here! the people which has come out from Egypt and it has covered [the] eye of the land now come! curse! for me it perhaps I will be able to engage in battle against it and I will drive out it.
12 Gott aber sprach zu Bileam: Du darfst nicht mit ihnen gehen, du darfst dieses Volk nicht verfluchen, denn es ist ein gesegnetes!
And he said God to Balaam not you will go with them not you will curse the people for [is] blessed it.
13 Frühmorgens nun gab Bileam den Häuptlingen Balaks den Bescheid: Zieht nur in euer Land, denn Jahwe, will es mir nicht gestatten, mit euch zu ziehn.
And he arose Balaam in the morning and he said to [the] leaders of Balak go to land your for he has refused Yahweh to permit me to go with you.
14 Da brachen die Häuptlinge der Moabiter auf, gelangten wieder zu Balak und berichteten: Bileam hat sich geweigert, mit uns zu ziehn!
And they arose [the] leaders of Moab and they went to Balak and they said he has refused Balaam to come with us.
15 Hierauf entsandte Balak nochmals Boten und zwar noch mehr und angesehenere Häuptlinge, als jene.
And he repeated again Balak to send leaders many and honored more than these.
16 Als diese zu Bileam gelangt waren, sprachen sie zu ihm: So läßt dir Balak, der Sohn Zipors, sagen: Schlage es nicht ab, zu mir zu kommen!
And they came to Balaam and they said to him thus he says Balak [the] son of Zippor do not please let yourself be restrained from coming to me.
17 Ich will dir's überaus reichlich lohnen und will alles thun, was du mich heißest; so komm nun und verwünsche mir dieses Volk!
For surely I will honor you exceedingly and all that you will say to me I will do and come! please curse! for me the people this.
18 Bileam aber entgegnete den Untergebenen Balaks: Wenn mir Balak Silber und Gold schenkte, so viel nur in sein Haus geht, so könnte ich doch dem Befehle Jahwes, meines Gottes, nicht zuwiderhandeln, möchte es nun eine geringfügige oder eine wichtige Sache betreffen.
And he answered Balaam and he said to [the] servants of Balak if he will give to me Balak [the] fullness of house his silver and gold not I will be able to transgress [the] mouth of Yahweh God my by doing a small [thing] or a large [thing].
19 Bleibt also nun auch ihr heute Nacht hier, damit ich erst in Erfahrung bringe, was Jahwe mir diesmal sagt.
And now remain please in this [place] also you this night so let me know what? will he increase Yahweh to speak with me.
20 Während der Nacht aber kam Gott zu Bileam und sprach zu ihm: Wenn diese Männer gekommen sind, um dich zu berufen, so mache dich auf und geh mit ihnen; nur darfst du nichts anderes thun, als was ich dich heißen werde.
And he came God - to Balaam night and he said to him if to summon you they have come the men arise go with them and only the word which I will speak to you it you will do.
21 Am andern Morgen früh zäumte Bileam seine Eselin auf und zog mit den Häuptlingen der Moabiter von dannen.
And he arose Balaam in the morning and he saddled donkey his and he went with [the] leaders of Moab.
22 Aber Gott geriet in Zorn darüber, daß er sich auf den Weg gemacht hatte; und der Engel Jahwes trat ihm auf dem Wege feindselig entgegen, während er auf seiner Eselin ritt und seine beiden Diener bei sich hatte.
And it burned [the] anger of God for [was] going he and he stood [the] angel of Yahweh in the road to an adversary to him and he [was] riding on donkey his and two of servants his [were] with him.
23 Als nun die Eselin sah, wie der Engel Jahwes mit dem gezückten Schwert in der Hand auf dem Wege dastand, da bog die Eselin vom Weg ab und ging auf dem Felde; Bileam aber schlug die Eselin, um sie wieder auf den Weg zu bringen.
And it saw the donkey [the] angel of Yahweh standing in the road and sword his [was] drawn in hand his and it turned aside the donkey from the road and it went in the field and he struck Balaam the donkey to turn it the road.
24 Da trat der Engel Jahwes in den Hohlweg zwischen den Weinbergen, wo zu beiden Seiten eine Mauer war.
And he stood [the] angel of Yahweh in [the] narrow way of the vineyards a wall from this and a wall from this.
25 Als nun die Eselin den Engel Jahwes erblickte, drängte sie sich an die Mauerwand und preßte so den Fuß Bileams an die Mauerwand; da schlug er sie abermals.
And it saw the donkey [the] angel of Yahweh and it squeezed itself to the wall and it squeezed [the] foot of Balaam to the wall and he repeated to strike it.
26 Der Engel Jahwes aber ging nochmals voraus und trat an eine enge Stelle, wo keine Möglichkeit war, nach rechts oder nach links auszuweichen.
And he increased [the] angel of Yahweh to pass on and he stood in a place narrow where there not [was] a way to turn aside right [hand] and left [hand].
27 Als nun die Eselin den Engel Jahwes erblickte, legte sie sich unter Bileam auf den Boden. Da geriet Bileam in Zorn und schlug die Eselin mit dem Stocke.
And it saw the donkey [the] angel of Yahweh and it lay down under Balaam and it burned [the] anger of Balaam and he struck the donkey with the stick.
28 Jahwe aber verlieh der Eselin Sprache; da sagte sie zu Bileam: Was habe ich dir gethan, daß du mich nun schon dreimal geschlagen hast?
And he opened Yahweh [the] mouth of the donkey and it said to Balaam what? have I done to you that you have struck me this three feet.
29 Bileam erwiderte der Eselin: Weil du mich zum Narren gehabt hast! Hätte ich nur ein Schwert in der Hand, so hätte ich dich längst umgebracht!
And he said Balaam to the donkey that you have dealt wantonly with me if there [were] a sword in hand my that now I killed you.
30 Da sprach die Eselin zu Bileam: Bin ich denn nicht deine Eselin, auf der du geritten bist von jeher bis auf den heutigen Tag? Hatte ich jemals die Gewohnheit, so gegen dich zu handeln? Er erwiderte: Nein!
And it said the donkey to Balaam ¿ not [am] I donkey your which you have ridden on me from duration your until the day this ¿ really have I had [the] habit to do to you thus and he said no.
31 Da öffnete Jahwe Bileam die Augen, daß er den Engel Jahwes erblickte, wie er mit dem gezückten Schwert in der Hand auf dem Wege dastand. Da verneigte er sich und warf sich zu Boden.
And he uncovered Yahweh [the] eyes of Balaam and he saw [the] angel of Yahweh standing in the road and sword his [was] drawn in hand his and he bowed low and he bowed down to face his.
32 Der Engel Jahwes aber sprach zu ihm: Warum hast du deine Eselin nun schon dreimal geschlagen? Ich bin es ja, der dir entgegengetreten ist, denn der Weg ist abschüssig vor mir.
And he said to him [the] angel of Yahweh concerning what? did you strike female donkey your this three feet here! I I came out to an adversary for it is precipitate the way to before me.
33 Die Eselin aber sah mich und wich mir daher nun schon dreimal aus. Wäre sie mir nicht ausgewichen, so hätte ich dich schon längst umgebracht; sie aber hätte ich am Leben gelassen.
And it saw me the donkey and it turned aside before me this three feet perhaps it had turned aside from before me if now also you I killed and it I preserved alive.
34 Da erwiderte Bileam dem Engel Jahwes: Ich habe gefehlt; ich wußte ja nicht, daß du mir auf dem Weg entgegengetreten warst. Wenn es dir also mißfällig ist, so will ich wieder umkehren!
And he said Balaam to [the] angel of Yahweh I have sinned for not I knew that you [were] standing to meet me in the road and therefore if [it is] displeasing in eyes your I will turn back for myself.
35 Der Engel Jahwes aber antwortete Bileam: Zieh nur hin mit den Männern; aber bloß die Worte, die ich dir eingeben werde, darfst du reden! Da zog Bileam mit den Häuptlingen Balaks weiter.
And he said [the] angel of Yahweh to Balaam go with the men and only the word which I will speak to you it you will speak and he went Balaam with [the] leaders of Balak.
36 Als nun Balak vernahm, daß Bileam unterwegs sei, zog er ihm entgegen bis nach Ir Moab, das an der Arnongrenze liegt, an der äußersten Grenze.
And he heard Balak that he had come Balaam and he went out to meet him to [the] city of Moab which [is] on [the] border of Arnon which [is] at [the] end of the territory.
37 Da sprach Balak zu Bileam: habe ich denn nicht wiederholt Boten an dich geschickt, um dich rufen zu lassen? Warum bist du nicht zu mir gekommen? Bin ich denn etwa nicht imstande, dir es reichlich zu lohnen?
And he said Balak to Balaam ¿ not certainly did I send to you to summon you why? not did you come to me ¿ really not am I able to honor you.
38 Bileam antwortete Balak: Wohl bin ich zu dir gekommen. Aber werde ich wirklich irgend etwas reden können? Die Worte, die mir Gott in den Mund legt, die werde ich reden!
And he said Balaam to Balak here! I have come to you now ¿ certainly am I able to speak anything the word which he will put God in mouth my it I will speak.
39 Hierauf ging Bileam mit Balak, und sie gelangten nach Kirjath Chuzoth.
And he went Balaam with Balak and they came Kiriath-huzoth.
40 Balak aber ließ Rinder und Schafe opfern und sandte Stücke davon an Bileam und die Häuptlinge, die bei ihm waren.
And he sacrificed Balak cattle and sheep and he sent to Balaam and to the leaders who [were] with him.
41 Am andern Morgen früh aber nahm Balak Bileam mit und führte ihn hinauf nach Bamoth Baal; von dort konnte er einen Teil des Volkes sehen.
And it was in the morning and he took Balak Balaam and he brought up him Bamoth Baal and he saw from there [the] outskirt[s] of the people.
