Und ob auch alle seine Söhne und Töchter ihn zu trösten suchten, wollte er sich doch nicht trösten lassen, sondern sprach: Trauernd werde ich zu meinem Sohne hinabsteigen in die Unterwelt! So beweinte ihn sein Vater. (Sheol )
And all his children being gathered together to comfort their father in his sorrow, he would not receive comfort, but said: I will go down to my son into hell, mourning. And whilst he continued weeping, (Sheol )
Er antwortete: Mein Sohn soll nicht mit euch reisen; denn sein Bruder ist tot, und er ist allein übrig. Wenn ihm ein Unfall zustieße auf dem Wege, den ihr ziehen müßt, so würdet ihr schuld daran sein, wenn ich mit meinem grauen Haar voller Jammer hinunter müßte in die Unterwelt. (Sheol )
But he said: My son shall not go down with you: his brother is dead, and he is left alone: if any mischief befall him in the land to which you go, you will bring down my gray hairs with sorrow to hell. (Sheol )
Wenn ihr mir nun auch diesen noch wegnehmt, und ihm ein Unglück zustoßen sollte, so wäret ihr schuld daran, wenn ich mit meinem grauen Haar in schwerem Leid hinunter müßte in die Unterwelt! (Sheol )
If you take this also, and any thing befall him in the way you will bring down my gray hairs with sorrow unto hell. (Sheol )
so würde er, sobald er gewahr würde, daß der Knabe nicht mehr bei uns ist, sterben, und deine Sklaven wären schuld daran, wenn dein Sklave, unser Vater, mit seinem grauen Haar voller Jammer hinab müßte in die Unterwelt. (Sheol )
And he shall see that he is not with us, he will die, and thy servants shall bring down his gray hairs with sorrow unto hell. (Sheol )
Wenn aber Jahwe etwas Unerhörtes schafft, und die Erde ihren Mund aufthut und sie mit allem, was ihnen gehört, verschlingt, so daß sie lebendig in die Unterwelt hinabfahren, - dann werdet ihr erkennen, daß diese Männer Jahwe gelästert haben! (Sheol )
But if the Lord do a new thing, and the earth opening her mouth swallow them down, and all things that belong to them, and they go down alive into hell, you shall know that they have blasphemed the Lord. (Sheol )
So fuhren sie mit allem, was ihnen gehörte, lebendig hinab in die Unterwelt, und die Erde schloß sich über ihnen, so daß sie mitten aus der Gemeinde verschwunden waren. (Sheol )
And they went down alive into hell the ground closing upon them, and they perished from among the people. (Sheol )
Denn ein Feuer loderte auf in meiner Nase, das brennt bis in die Tiefen der Unterwelt, verzehrt die Erde samt ihrem Gewächs und entzündet die Grundfesten der Berge. (Sheol )
A fire is kindled in my wrath, and shall burn even to the lowest hell: and shall devour the earth with her increase, and shall burn the foundations of the mountains. (Sheol )
Jahwe tötet und macht lebendig, er stürzt in die Unterwelt und führt herauf. (Sheol )
The Lord killeth and maketh alive, he bringeth down to hell and bringeth back again. (Sheol )
Bande der Unterwelt umfingen mich, Schlingen des Todes überfielen mich. (Sheol )
The cords of hell compassed me: the snares of death prevented me. (Sheol )
So handle nun nach deiner Weisheit und laß seine grauen Haare nicht unversehrt hinunter in die Unterwelt kommen. (Sheol )
Do therefore according to thy wisdom, and let not his hoary head go down to hell in peace. (Sheol )
Du aber laß ihn nicht ungestraft; denn du bist ein weiser Mann und wirst wissen, was du ihm thun mußt, daß du seine grauen Haare mit Blut hinunter in die Unterwelt kommen lassest. (Sheol )
Do not thou hold him guiltless. But thou art a wise man, and knowest what to do with him, and thou shalt bring down his grey hairs with blood to hell. (Sheol )
Wie die Wolke schwindet und dahingeht, so kehrt nicht wieder, wer zur Unterwelt hinabstieg. (Sheol )
As a cloud is consumed, and passeth away: so he that shall go down to hell shall not come up. (Sheol )
Himmelhoch - was kannst du thun? tiefer als die Unterwelt - was kannst du wissen? (Sheol )
He is higher than heaven, and what wilt thou do? he is deeper than hell, and how wilt thou know? (Sheol )
O daß du mich in der Unterwelt verwahrtest, mich bärgest, bis dein Zorn sich gelegt, ein Ziel mir setztest und dann mein gedächtest! - (Sheol )
Who will grant me this, that thou mayst protect me in hell, and hide me till thy wrath pass, and appoint me a. time when thou wilt remember me? (Sheol )
Wenn ich auf die Unterwelt als meine Behausung hoffe, in der Finsternis mein Lager hingebreitet habe, (Sheol )
If I wait hell is my house, and I have made my bed in darkness. (Sheol )
Zu den Riegeln der Unterwelt fährt sie hinab wenn allzumal im Staube Ruhe ist. (Sheol )
All that I have shall go down into the deepest pit: thinkest thou that there at least I shall have rest? (Sheol )
Sie verbringen in Glück ihre Tage und in einem Augenblicke steigen sie hinab zur Unterwelt; (Sheol )
They spend their days in wealth, and in a moment they go down to hell. (Sheol )
Dürre und Hitze raffen die Schneewasser hinweg, die Unterwelt die, so gesündigt haben. (Sheol )
Let him pass from the snow waters to excessive heat, and his sin even to hell. (Sheol )
Nackt liegt die Unterwelt vor ihm, und unverhüllt der Abgrund. (Sheol )
Hell is naked before him, and there is no covering for destruction. (Sheol )
Denn im Tode gedenkt man deiner nicht; wer könnte in der Unterwelt dir lobsingen? (Sheol )
For there is no one in death, that is mindful of thee: and who shall confess to thee in hell? (Sheol )

Jahwe, laß mich nicht zu Schanden werden, denn ich rufe dich an. Mögen die Gottlosen zu Schanden werden, mögen sie umkommen und hinabfahren in die Unterwelt. (Sheol )
Let me not be confounded, O Lord, for I have called upon thee. Let the wicked be ashamed, and be brought down to hell. (Sheol )
Wie Schafe sinken sie hinab in die Unterwelt, der Tod weidet sie, so daß am Morgen die Frommen über sie herrschen. Und ihre Gestalt ist zum Verzehren bestimmt; die Unterwelt wird ihr zur Wohnung. (Sheol )
They are laid in hell like sheep: death shall feed upon them. And the just shall have dominion over them in the morning; and their help shall decay in hell from their glory. (Sheol )
Aber Gott wird meine Seele aus der Gewalt der Unterwelt erlösen; denn er wird mich aufnehmen. (Sela) (Sheol )

Hell and destruction are before the Lord: how much more the hearts of the children of men? (Sheol )

The path of life is above for the wise, that he may decline from the lowest hell. (Sheol )

Alles, was deine Hand zu thun vermag mit deiner Kraft, das thue; denn weder Thun, noch Berechnung, noch Erkenntnis, noch Weisheit giebt's in der Unterwelt, wohin du gehen wirst. (Sheol )
Whatsoever thy hand is able to do, do it earnestly: for neither work, nor reason, nor wisdom, nor knowledge shall be in hell, whither thou art hastening. (Sheol )
Lege mich wie einen Siegelring an dein Herz, wie einen Siegelring an deinen Arm. Denn stark wie der Tod ist Liebe, fest wie die Unterwelt ist Leidenschaft, ihre Gluten Feuergluten, eine Flamme Jahs! (Sheol )
Put me as a seal upon thy heart, as a seal upon thy arm, for love is strong as death, jealousy as hard as hell, the lamps thereof are fire and flames. (Sheol )
Darum wird die Unterwelt ihren Rachen aufsperren und ihr Maul unermeßlich weit aufreißen, daß hinabfahren Jerusalems Pracht und Gewoge und Gebrause und wer daselbst fröhlich ist. (Sheol )
Therefore hath hell enlarged her soul, and opened her mouth without any bounds, and their strong ones, and their people, and their high and glorious ones shall go down into it. (Sheol )
Erbitte dir ein Zeichen von Jahwe, deinem Gotte, tief unten aus der Unterwelt oder hoch oben aus der Höhe! (Sheol )
Ask thee a sign of the Lord thy God either unto the depth of hell, or unto the height above. (Sheol )
Die Unterwelt drunten geriet deinetwegen in Aufruhr, deiner Ankunft entgegen; sie jagte um deinetwillen die Schatten auf, alle Führer der Erde, ließ von ihren Thronen aufstehen alle Könige der Völker. (Sheol )
Hell below was in an uproar to meet thee at thy coming, it stirred up the giants for thee. All the princes of the earth are risen up from their thrones, all the princes of nations. (Sheol )
In die Unterwelt ist dein Stolz hinabgestürzt, das Rauschen deiner Harfen. Unter dir ist Verwesung ausgebreitet, und Würmer sind deine Decke. (Sheol )
Thy pride is brought down to hell, thy carcass is fallen down: under thee shall the moth be strewed, and worms shall be thy covering. (Sheol )
Aber in die Unterwelt wirst du hinabgestürzt, in die tiefunterste Grube! (Sheol )
But yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, into the depth of the pit. (Sheol )
Weil ihr gesagt habt: Wir haben mit dem Tode einen Vertrag geschlossen und mit der Unterwelt ein Bündnis gemacht! Die flutende Geißel wird, wenn sie daherfährt, uns nicht erreichen! Denn wir haben Lüge zu unserer Zuflucht gemacht und in Trug uns geborgen! (Sheol )
For you have said: We have entered into a league with death, and we have made a covenant with hell. When the overflowing scourge shall pass through, it shall not come upon us: for we have placed our hope in lies, and by falsehood we are protected. (Sheol )
Euer Vertrag mit dem Tode soll ausgestrichen werden, und euer Bündnis mit der Unterwelt keine Geltung haben. Wenn die flutende Geißel daherfährt, sollt ihr von ihr zermalmt werden. (Sheol )
And Sour league with death shall be abolished, and your covenant with hell shall not stand: when the overflowing scourge shall pass, you shall be trodden down by it. (Sheol )
Ich sprach: Im ruhigen Laufe meiner Tage muß ich in die Thore der Unterwelt eingehen, werde ich des Restes meiner Lebensjahre beraubt. (Sheol )
I said: In the midst of my days I shall go to the gates of hell: I sought for the residue of my years. (Sheol )

Thus saith the Lord God: In the day when he went down to hell, I brought in mourning, I covered him with the deep: and I withheld its rivers, and restrained the many waters: Libanus grieved for him, and all the trees of the field trembled. (Sheol )
Durch das Getöse ihres Falls machte ich die Völker erzittern, als ich sie in die Unterwelt hinabstieß zu den in die Gruft Hinabgestiegenen, und es trösteten sich in der Unterwelt alle Bäume Edens, die auserlesenen und besten des Libanon, alle Wasser trinkenden. (Sheol )
I shook the nations with the sound of his fall, when I brought him down to hell with them that descend into the pit: and all the trees of pleasure, the choice and best in Libanus, all that were moistened with waters, were comforted in the lowest parts of the earth. (Sheol )
Auch sie fuhren mit ihr hinab in die Unterwelt zu den vom Schwert Erschlagenen, die in ihrem Schatten gewohnt hatten, inmitten der Völker. (Sheol )
For they also shall go down with him to hell to them that are slain by the sword: and the arm of every one shall sit down under his shadow in the midst of the nations. (Sheol )
Da werden zu ihm sagen die starken Helden mitten aus der Unterwelt heraus, zu ihm samt seinen Helfern: Hinabgesunken sind, daliegen die Unbeschnittenen, die vom Schwert Erschlagenen. (Sheol )
The most mighty among the strong ones shall speak to him from the midst of hell, they that went down with his helpers, and slept uncircumcised, slain by the sword. (Sheol )
Sie liegen nicht bei den Helden, den in grauer Vorzeit Gefallenen, die in ihrer Kriegsrüstung hinabstiegen in die Unterwelt, denen man ihre Schwerter legte unter ihre Häupter und auf deren Gebeinen ihre Schilde lagen; denn ein Schrecken vor den Helden herrschte im Lande der Lebendigen. (Sheol )
And they shall not sleep with the brave, and with them that fell uncircumcised, that went down to hell with their weapons, and laid their swords under their heads, and their iniquities were in their bones, because they were the terror of the mighty in the land of the living. (Sheol )
Sollte ich sie aus der Gewalt der Unterwelt befreien, sollte ich sie vom Tod erlösen? Wo sind deine Seuchen, o Tod? Wo sind deine Qualen, o Unterwelt? Meine Augen kennen kein Mitleid mehr! (Sheol )
I will deliver them out of the hand of death. I will redeem them from death: O death, I will be thy death; O hell, I will be thy bite: comfort is hidden from my eyes. (Sheol )
Wenn sie in die Unterwelt einbrechen, soll meine Hand sie von dort zurückholen, und wenn sie in den Himmel hinaufsteigen, will ich sie von dort herabstürzen. (Sheol )
Though they go down even to hell, thence shall my hand bring them out: and though they climb up to heaven, thence will I bring them down. (Sheol )
und sprach: Aus meiner Bedrängnis rief ich Jahwe an, da antwortete er mir; aus dem Schoße der Unterwelt schrie ich um Hilfe, und du hörtest mein Rufen. (Sheol )
And he said: I cried out of my affliction to the Lord, and he heard me: I cried out of the belly of hell, and thou hast heard my voice. (Sheol )
Wehe über den Treulosen, den Mann, der begehrt und nicht satt wird, der wie die Hölle seinen Rachen aufsperrt und an Unersättlichkeit dem Tode gleicht, der alle Völker an sich zog und alle Nationen um sich versammelte. (Sheol )
And as wine deceiveth him that drinketh it: so shall the proud man be, and he shall not be honoured: who hath enlarged his desire like hell: and is himself like death, and he is never satisfied: but will gather together unto him all nations, and heap together unto him all people. (Sheol )
Ich aber sage euch: jeder, der seinem Bruder zürnt, soll dem Gerichte verfallen sein. Wer aber seinen Bruder einen Taugenichts heißt, soll dem Synedrium, und wer ihn einen Gottlosen heißt, soll für die Feuerhölle verfallen sein. (Geenna )
But I say to you, that whosoever is angry with his brother, shall be in danger of the judgment. And whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council. And whosoever shall say, Thou Fool, shall be in danger of hell fire. (Geenna )
Wenn dich aber dein rechtes Auge ärgert, so reiß es heraus und wirf es von dir. Denn es ist dir besser, daß eines deiner Glieder verloren gehe, als daß dein ganzer Leib in die Hölle geworfen werde. (Geenna )
And if thy right eye scandalize thee, pluck it out and cast it from thee. For it is expedient for thee that one of thy members should perish, rather than that thy whole body be cast into hell. (Geenna )
Und wenn dich deine rechte Hand ärgert, so haue sie ab und wirf sie von dir; denn es ist dir besser, daß eines deiner Glieder verloren gehe, als daß dein ganzer Leib in die Hölle komme. (Geenna )
And if thy right hand scandalize thee, cut it off, and cast it from thee: for it is expedient for thee that one of thy members should perish, rather than that thy whole body be cast into hell. (Geenna )
Und fürchtet euch nicht vor denen, die den Leib töten, aber die Seele nicht töten können; fürchtet euch aber vielmehr vor dem, der Seele und Leib dem Verderben übergeben kann in der Hölle. (Geenna )
And fear ye not them that kill the body, and are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him that can destroy both soul and body in hell. (Geenna )
Und du, Kapernaum, wardst du nicht zum Himmel erhöht? Bis zur Hölle sollst du hinabgestoßen werden. Denn wenn in Sodom die Wunder geschehen wären, die bei dir geschehen sind, so stände es noch bis heute. (Hadēs )
And thou Capharnaum, shalt thou be exalted up to heaven? thou shalt go down even unto hell. For if in Sodom had been wrought the miracles that have been wrought in thee, perhaps it had remained unto this day. (Hadēs )
Auch wer ein Wort sagt gegen den Sohn des Menschen - es wird ihm vergeben werden; wer aber gegen den heiligen Geist spricht, dem wird es nicht vergeben werden, weder in dieser noch in der zukünftigen Welt. (aiōn )
And whosoever shall speak a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but he that shall speak against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, nor in the world to come. (aiōn )
Was aber unter die Dornen gesät ward, das ist der, welcher das Wort hört, und die Sorge der Welt und der Trug des Reichtums erstickt das Wort, und er bleibt ohne Frucht. (aiōn )
And he that received the seed among thorns, is he that heareth the word, and the care of this world and the deceitfulness of riches choketh up the word, and he becometh fruitless. (aiōn )
Der Feind aber, der es gesät, ist der Teufel. Die Ernte aber ist das Ende der Welt, die Schnitter sind Engel. (aiōn )
And the enemy that sowed them, is the devil. But the harvest is the end of the world. And the reapers are the angels. (aiōn )
Wie nun das Unkraut gesammelt und im Feuer verbrannt wird, so wird es am Ende der Welt sein. (aiōn )
Even as cockle therefore is gathered up, and burnt with fire: so shall it be at the end of the world. (aiōn )
So wird es sein am Ende der Welt; es werden die Engel ausgehen und die Bösen ausscheiden von den Gerechten, (aiōn )
So shall it be at the end of the world. The angels shall go out, and shall separate the wicked from among the just. (aiōn )
So sage auch ich dir: du bist Petrus, und auf diesen Felsen will ich meine Gemeinde bauen, und die Pforten der Hölle sollen sie nicht überwältigen. (Hadēs )
And I say to thee: That thou art Peter; and upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. (Hadēs )
Wenn aber deine Hand oder dein Fuß dich ärgert, so haue ihn ab und wirf ihn weg; es ist dir besser, in das Leben einzugehen verstümmelt oder lahm, als mit zwei Händen oder zwei Füßen in das ewige Feuer geworfen zu werden. (aiōnios )
And if thy hand, or thy foot scandalize thee, cut it off, and cast it from thee. It is better for thee to go into life maimed or lame, than having two hands or two feet, to be cast into everlasting fire. (aiōnios )
Und wenn dein Auge dich ärgert, so reiß es heraus und wirf es weg; es ist dir besser, einäugig in das Leben einzugehen, als mit zwei Augen in die Feuerhölle geworfen zu werden. (Geenna )
And if thy eye scandalize thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee. It is better for thee having one eye to enter into life, than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire. (Geenna )
Und siehe, es trat einer zu ihm und sagte: Meister, was soll ich Gutes thun, um ewiges Leben zu erlangen? (aiōnios )
And behold one came and said to him: Good master, what good shall I do that I may have life everlasting? (aiōnios )
Und wer überall verlassen hat Häuser oder Brüder oder Schwestern oder Vater oder Mutter oder Kinder oder Aecker um meines Namens willen, der wird vielmal mehr empfangen und ewiges Leben ererben. (aiōnios )
And every one that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands for my name’s sake, shall receive an hundredfold, and shall possess life everlasting. (aiōnios )

And seeing a certain fig tree by the way side, he came to it, and found nothing on it but leaves only, and he saith to it: May no fruit grow on thee henceforward for ever. And immediately the fig tree withered away. (aiōn )

und schwur bei dem, der da lebet in alle Ewigkeit, der den Himmel geschaffen hat und was darin ist, und die Erde und was darin ist, und das Meer und was darin ist: es wird keine Zeit mehr sein, (aiōn )
And he swore by him that liveth for ever and ever, who created heaven, and the things which are therein; and the earth, and the things which are in it; and the sea, and the things which are therein: That time shall be no longer. (aiōn )
Und wenn sie ihr Zeugnis vollendet haben, so wird das Tier, das aus dem Abgrund aufsteigt, mit ihnen Krieg führen, und wird sie überwinden und wird sie töten. (Abyssos )
And when they shall have finished their testimony, the beast, that ascendeth out of the abyss, shall make war against them, and shall overcome them, and kill them. (Abyssos )
Und der siebente Engel blies die Trompete, und es erhob sich ein lautes Rufen im Himmel: das Reich der Welt ist unserem Herrn geworden und seinem Christus, und er wird herrschen in alle Ewigkeiten. (aiōn )
And the seventh angel sounded the trumpet: and there were great voices in heaven, saying: The kingdom of this world is become our Lord’s and his Christ’s, and he shall reign for ever and ever. Amen. (aiōn )
Und ich sah einen anderen Engel fliegen im Mittelhimmel, der ein ewiges Evangelium hatte zu verkünden bei denen die auf der Erde wohnen, bei allen Nationen, Stämmen, Sprachen und Völkern, (aiōnios )
And I saw another angel flying through the midst of heaven, having the eternal gospel, to preach unto them that sit upon the earth, and over every nation, and tribe, and tongue, and people: (aiōnios )
Und der Rauch ihrer Folter steigt auf in alle Ewigkeit; und sie haben nicht Ruhe Tag und Nacht, die da anbeteten das Tier und sein Bild, und wer den Stempel seines Namens empfängt. (aiōn )
And the smoke of their torments shall ascend up for ever and ever: neither have they rest day nor night, who have adored the beast, and his image, and whoever receiveth the character of his name. (aiōn )
Und eines von den vier Tieren gab den sieben Engeln sieben goldene Schalen gefüllt mit dem Zorn des Gottes der da lebt in alle Ewigkeit. (aiōn )
And one of the four living creatures gave to the seven angels seven golden vials, full of the wrath of God, who liveth for ever and ever. (aiōn )
Das Tier, das du sahst, war und ist nicht, und soll heraufsteigen aus dem Abgrund und hingehen zum Verderben; und es werden sich wundern die Bewohner der Erde, deren Name nicht eingeschrieben ist in das Buch des Lebens von Grundlegung der Welt her, wenn sie sehen das Tier, daß es war und nicht ist, und wiederkommen wird. The beast, which thou sawest, was, and is not, and shall come up out of the bottomless pit, and go into destruction: and the inhabitants on the earth (whose names are not written in the book of life from the foundation of the world) shall wonder, seeing the beast that was, and is not. (Abyssos )

And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet, who wrought signs before him, wherewith he seduced them who received the character of the beast, and who adored his image. These two were cast alive into the pool of fire, burning with brimstone. (Limnē Pyr )
