Nehemia 4
1 Sobald aber Sanballat hörte, daß wir an der Mauer bauten, ward er zornig und ärgerte sich sehr. Und er spottete über die Juden
And it was just when he heard Sanballat that we [were] rebuilding the wall and it burned to him and he was angry greatly and he mocked the Jews.
2 und sprach in Gegenwart seiner Brüder und der Heeresmacht Samariens und sagte: Was haben die schwächlichen Juden vor? Werden sie es so heute noch zu stande bringen? Werden sie die Steine aus den Schutthaufen heraus lebendig machen, obgleich sie verbrannt sind?
And he said - before brothers his and [the] army of Samaria and he said what? [are] the Jews feeble doing ¿ will they restore for themselves ¿ will they offer sacrifices ¿ will they finish in the day ¿ will they restore the stones from [the] heaps of debris and they [are] burned.
3 Und Tobia, der Ammoniter, stand neben ihm und sprach: Was sie auch bauen - wenn ein Fuchs hinaufsteigt, so wird er ihre Steinmauer wieder auseinanderreißen! -
And Tobiah the Ammonite [was] beside him and he said also [that] which they [are] building if it will go up a fox and it will break down [the] wall of stones their.
4 Höre, unser Gott, wie wir verachtet worden sind! Laß ihren Hohn auf ihr Haupt zurückfallen und gieb sie in einem fremden Land als Gefangene der Plünderung preis.
Hear O God our for we are contempt and return reproach their to own head their and give them to plunder in a land of captivity.
5 Decke ihre Verschuldung nicht zu, und ihre Sünde werde nimmermehr ausgelöscht vor deinem Angesicht; denn sie haben angesichts der Bauenden Ärgernis erregt.
And may not you cover over iniquity their and sin their from to before you may not it be wiped out for they have provoked to anger to before the builders.
6 Wir aber bauten an der Mauer, und die ganze Mauer ward geschlossen bis zur Hälfte ihrer Höhe, und das Volk war voll Eifer für die Arbeit.
And we rebuilt the wall and it was joined together all the wall to middle its and it belonged a heart to the people to work.
7 Als nun Sanballat und Tobia und die Araber und die Ammoniter und Asdoditer hörten, daß den Mauern Jerusalems ein Verband angelegt worden war, daß die Risse sich zu schließen begannen, wurden sie sehr zornig
And it was just when he heard Sanballat and Tobiah and the Arabs and the Ammonites and the Ashdodites that it had gone up [the] repair of [the] walls of Jerusalem that they had begun the broken down [parts] to be closed and it burned to them exceedingly.
8 und verschworen sich alle miteinander, herbeizukommen, um gegen Jerusalem zu kämpfen und Verwirrung dort anzurichten.
And they conspired all of them together to come to wage war against Jerusalem and to make for it confusion.
9 Da beteten wir zu unserem Gott und stellten aus Furcht vor ihnen bei Tage und bei Nacht Wachtposten gegen sie auf.
And we prayed to God our and we stationed a guard on them by day and night because of them.
10 Die Judäer aber sprachen: Es wankt die Kraft der Lastträger, da des Schuttes gar viel ist, und so sind wir außer stande, an der Mauer zu bauen.
And it said Judah it has failed [the] strength of the burden-bearer[s] and the debris [is] much and we not we will be able to rebuild the wall.
11 Unsere Widersacher aber dachten: Sie sollen nichts merken und nichts sehen, bis wir mitten unter sie kommen und sie niedermetzeln und dem Bau ein Ende bereiten!
And they said opponents our not they will know and not they will see until that we will come into [the] midst of them and we will kill them and we will put an end to the work.
12 Als nun die Juden, die ihnen zunächst wohnten, wohl zehnmal von allen den Orten her, wo jene gegen uns anrückten, kamen und uns Meldung machten,
And it was just when they came the Jews who were dwelling beside them and they said to us ten times from all the places which you will turn to us.
13 da stellte ich längs des Platzes hinter der Mauer an gedeckten Stellen Wurfmaschinen auf; und die Leute stellte ich geschlechterweise mit ihren Schwerten, Lanzen und Bogen auf.
And I stationed from [the] lower parts of the place from behind of the wall (in the open places *QK) and I stationed the people to clans with swords their spears their and bows their.
14 Und ich besichtigte alles und dann machte ich mich auf und sprach zu den Edlen und den Vorstehern und zu dem übrigen Volke: Fürchtet euch nicht vor ihnen! Denkt vielmehr an den großen und furchtbaren Herrn und kämpft mutig für eure Brüder, eure Söhne und Töchter, eure Weiber und Häuser!
And I saw and I arose and I said to the nobles and to the officials and to [the] rest of the people may not you be afraid of them [the] Lord great and awesome remember and fight on brothers your sons your and daughters your wives your and houses your.
15 Als nun unsere Feinde hörten, daß es uns kund geworden war, und Gott ihren Plan vereitelt hatte, da konnten wir alle zur Mauer zurückkehren, ein jeder an seine Beschäftigung.
And it was just when they heard enemies our that it was known to us and he had frustrated God purpose their (and we returned *Qk) all of us to the wall each one to work his.
16 Seit jenem Tage aber arbeitete nur die Hälfte meiner Leute an dem Bau; die andere Hälfte hielt die Schwerter und die Lanzen, die Schilde, die Bogen und die Panzer, während die Obersten hinter sämtlichen Judäern standen,
And it was - from the day that half of young men my [were] doing the work and half of them [were] holding and the spears the shields and the bows and the body armor and the commanders [were] behind all [the] house of Judah.
17 die an der Mauer bauten. Die Lastträger aber waren zum Kampfe gerüstet; mit ihrer einen Hand lagen sie ihrer Beschäftigung ob, während die andere die Lanze hielt.
Who were rebuilding the wall and the [ones who] were carrying in burden [were] carrying [it] with [the] one hand his doing the work and one [hand] [was] holding the weapon.
18 Und die Mauernden hatten ein jeder sein Schwert um seine Hüfte gegürtet und mauerten so; und der Trompetenbläser stand neben mir.
And the builders each one sword his [were] girded on hips his and [were] building and the [one who] gave a blast on the ram's horn [was] beside me.
19 Und ich sprach zu den Edlen und den Vorstehern und dem übrigen Volke: Die Arbeit ist groß und ausgedehnt, und so sind wir auf der Mauer zerstreut, fern voneinander.
And I said to the nobles and to the officials and to [the] rest of the people the work [is] much and extensive and we [are] separate on the wall distant each from brother his.
20 Da, wo ihr den Trompetenschall hört, dahin sollt ihr euch zu uns versammeln; unser Gott wird für uns streiten!
In [the] place where you will hear [the] sound of the ram's horn there towards you will assemble to us God our he will fight for us.
21 So arbeiteten wir an dem Bau, während die eine Hälfte von ihnen die Lanzen hielt, vom Aufgange der Morgenröte bis zum Hervortreten der Sterne.
And we [were] doing the work and half of them [were] keeping hold on spears from when came up the dawn until came out the stars.
22 Auch sprach ich zu jener Zeit zum Volke: Ein jeder möge samt seinen Leuten die Nacht in Jerusalem verbleiben, damit sie uns während der Nacht als Wachtposten dienen und tagsüber am Bau.
Also at the time that I said to the people each one and servant his let them spend [the] night in [the] midst of Jerusalem and they will be for us the night a guard and the day work.
23 Aber weder ich, noch meine Brüder und meine Leute, noch die wachhabenden Mannschaften, die unter meinem Befehle standen, legten jemals unsere Kleider ab, und jeder hatte seine Waffe zu seiner Rechten.
