Matthaeus 5
1 Als er aber die Massen sah, stieg er auf den Berg, und da er sich gesetzt, traten seine Jünger zu ihm.
And seeing the crowds, he went up onto the mountain, and when he had sat down, his talmidim came to him.
2 Und er that seinen Mund auf und lehrte sie also:
Then he opened his mouth and taught them, saying,
3 Selig die Armen im Geist, denn ihr ist das Reich der Himmel.
"Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
4 Selig die Trauernden, denn sie werden getröstet werden.
Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.
5 Selig die Sanftmütigen, denn sie werden das Land erben.
Blessed are the gentle, for they will inherit the earth.
6 Selig, die hungern und dürsten nach der Gerechtigkeit, denn sie werden gesättigt werden.
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they will be filled.
7 Selig die Barmherzigen, denn sie werden Barmherzigkeit erfahren.
Blessed are the merciful, for they will obtain mercy.
8 Selig, die rein im Herzen sind, denn sie werden Gott schauen.
Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.
9 Selig die Friedfertigen, denn sie werden Gottes Söhne heißen.
Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called the children of God.
10 Selig die um Gerechtigkeit Verfolgten, denn ihr ist das Reich der Himmel.
Blessed are those who have been persecuted for righteousness' sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
11 Selig seid ihr, wenn sie euch schmähen und verfolgen, und euch alles Schlechte andichten um meinetwillen.
"Blessed are you when they insult you, persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely, for my sake.
12 Freuet euch und frohlocket, denn euer Lohn ist groß in den Himmeln; denn so haben sie die Propheten vor euch verfolgt.
Rejoice, and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven. For that is how they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
13 Ihr seid das Salz der Erde; wenn aber das Salz taub wird, womit soll man es salzen? Es taugt zu nichts, als weggeworfen und von den Menschen zertreten zu werden.
"You are the salt of the earth, but if the salt has lost its flavor, with what will it be salted? It is then good for nothing, but to be cast out and trampled under people's feet.
14 Ihr seid das Licht der Welt. Eine Stadt, die auf einem Berge liegt, läßt sich nicht verstecken.
You are the light of the world. A city located on a hill cannot be hidden.
15 Man zündet auch nicht ein Licht an und setzt es unter ein Hohlmaß, sondern auf den Leuchter, so leuchtet es allen im Hause.
Neither do you light a lamp, and put it under a measuring basket, but on a stand; and it shines to all who are in the house.
16 So soll euer Licht leuchten vor den Menschen, auf daß sie eure guten Werke sehen, und euren Vater in den Himmeln preisen.
In the same way, let your light shine before people, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.
17 Denket nicht, daß ich gekommen, das Gesetz oder die Propheten aufzulösen; nicht aufzulösen bin ich gekommen, sondern zu erfüllen.
"Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy, but to fulfill.
18 Denn wahrlich, ich sage euch, bis der Himmel und die Erde vergehen, soll auch nicht ein Jota oder ein Häkchen vom Gesetze vergehen, bis alles wird geschehen sein.
For truly, I tell you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest letter or part of a letter will disappear from the Law, until all things are accomplished.
19 Wer also eines von diesen Geboten, von den geringsten, löst, und lehrt so die Menschen, wird zu den Geringsten zählen im Reich der Himmel. Wer es aber thut und lehrt, der wird groß heißen im Reich der Himmel.
Therefore, whoever will break one of these least commandments, and teach others to do so, will be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever will do and teach them will be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
20 Denn ich sage euch, wenn es mit eurer Gerechtigkeit nicht mehr ist, als bei den Schriftgelehrten und Pharisäern, so werdet ihr mit nichten in das Reich der Himmel kommen.
For I tell you that unless your righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and Pharisees, there is no way you will enter into the kingdom of heaven.
21 Ihr habt gehört: es ist den Alten gesagt: du sollst nicht töten; wer aber tötet, soll dem Gerichte verfallen sein.
"You have heard that it was said to the ancient ones, 'Do not murder;' and whoever murders will be liable to judgment.
22 Ich aber sage euch: jeder, der seinem Bruder zürnt, soll dem Gerichte verfallen sein. Wer aber seinen Bruder einen Taugenichts heißt, soll dem Synedrium, und wer ihn einen Gottlosen heißt, soll für die Feuerhölle verfallen sein. (Geenna g1067)
But I tell you, that everyone who is angry with his brother without a cause will be liable to judgment; and whoever will say to his brother, 'Raqa,' will be in danger of the council; and whoever will say, 'You fool,' will be in danger of the fire of Gehinnom. (Geenna g1067)
23 Wenn du denn deine Gabe zum Altar bringst, und es fällt dir dort ein, daß dein Bruder etwas gegen dich hat,
"If therefore you are offering your gift at the altar, and there remember that your brother has anything against you,
24 so laß deine Gabe dort vor dem Altar, und gehe zuerst hin und versöhne dich mit deinem Bruder, und hierauf komme und bringe deine Gabe dar.
leave your gift there before the altar, and go your way. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift.
25 Komme deinem Widersacher entgegen ohne Verzug, solange du noch mit ihm unterwegs bist, damit dich nicht der Widersacher dem Richter übergebe und der Richter dem Schergen und du werdest ins Gefängnis geworfen;
Agree with your adversary quickly, while you are with him in the way; lest perhaps the prosecutor deliver you to the judge, and the judge to the officer, and you be cast into prison.
26 wahrlich, ich sage dir, du sollst mit nichten von dort herauskommen, bis du den letzten Quadranten bezahlt hast.
Truly I tell you, you will never get out of there until you have paid the last penny.
27 Ihr habt gehört: es ist gesagt: du sollst nicht ehebrechen.
"You have heard that it was said, 'Do not commit adultery;'
28 Ich aber sage euch: jeder der nach einem Weibe sieht in Lüsternheit, hat schon die Ehe mit ihr gebrochen in seinem Herzen.
but I tell you that everyone who looks at a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart.
29 Wenn dich aber dein rechtes Auge ärgert, so reiß es heraus und wirf es von dir. Denn es ist dir besser, daß eines deiner Glieder verloren gehe, als daß dein ganzer Leib in die Hölle geworfen werde. (Geenna g1067)
And if your right eye causes you to stumble, pluck it out and throw it away from you. For it is more profitable for you that one of your members should perish, than for your whole body to be cast into Gehinnom. (Geenna g1067)
30 Und wenn dich deine rechte Hand ärgert, so haue sie ab und wirf sie von dir; denn es ist dir besser, daß eines deiner Glieder verloren gehe, als daß dein ganzer Leib in die Hölle komme. (Geenna g1067)

31 Sodann ist gesagt: wer sein Weib entläßt, soll ihr einen Scheidebrief geben.
"And it was said, 'Whoever divorces his wife, let him give her a certificate of divorce,'
32 Ich aber sage euch: jeder, der sein Weib entläßt, ausgenommen den Fall der Unzucht, macht, daß sie die Ehe bricht, und wer eine Entlassene heiratet, der bricht die Ehe.
but I tell you that everyone who divorces his wife, except for the cause of sexual immorality, makes her an adulteress; and whoever marries her when she is divorced commits adultery.
33 Wiederum habt ihr gehört: es ist den Alten gesagt: du sollst nicht falsch schwören, du sollst aber dem Herrn deine Schwüre abtragen.
"Again you have heard that it was said to them of old time, 'Do not make false vows, but fulfill your vows to the Lord.'
34 Ich aber sage euch: ihr sollt überhaupt nicht schwören, weder beim Himmel, denn er ist Gottes Thron;
But I tell you, do not swear at all, neither by heaven, for it is the throne of God;
35 noch bei der Erde, denn sie ist seiner Füße Schemel; noch bei Jerusalem, denn es ist des großen Königs Stadt.
nor by the earth, for it is the footstool of his feet; nor by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great King.
36 Noch sollst du bei deinem Kopf schwören, denn du vermagst nicht ein einziges Haar weiß oder schwarz zu machen.
Neither should you swear by your head, for you cannot make one hair white or black.
37 Es sei aber euer Wort: ja, ja; nein, nein; was darüber ist, ist vom Bösen.
But let your 'Yes' be 'Yes' and your 'No' be 'No.' Whatever is more than these is of the evil one.
38 Ihr habt gehört: es ist gesagt: Auge um Auge und Zahn um Zahn.
"You have heard that it was said, 'An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth.'
39 Ich aber sage euch: nicht dem Bösen widerstehen; sondern wer dich schlägt auf die rechte Wange, dem biete auch die andere.
But I tell you, do not set yourself against the one who is evil. But whoever strikes you on your right cheek, turn to him the other also.
40 Und wer mit dir rechten und dir den Rock nehmen will, dem laß auch den Mantel.
And if anyone sues you to take away your shirt, let him have your coat also.
41 Wer dich zu laufen nötigt eine Meile, mit dem gehe zwei.
And whoever compels you to go one mile, go with him two.
42 Gib dem, der dich bittet, und von dem, der von dir borgen will, wende dich nicht ab.
Give to him who asks you, and do not turn away him who desires to borrow from you.
43 Ihr habt gehört: es ist gesagt: du sollst lieben deinen Nächsten und hassen deinen Feind.
"You have heard that it was said, 'Love your neighbor, and hate your enemy.'
44 Ich aber sage euch: liebet eure Feinde und betet für eure Verfolger,
But I tell you, love your enemies, and pray for those who persecute you,
45 auf daß ihr werdet Söhne eures Vaters in den Himmeln.
that you may be children of your Father who is in heaven. For he makes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the just and the unjust.
46 Denn er lässet seine Sonne aufgehen über Böse und Gute, und regnen über Gerechte und Ungerechte. Denn wenn ihr liebet, die euch lieben, was habt ihr für einen Lohn? Thun nicht auch die Zöllner dasselbe?
For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Do not even the tax collectors do the same?
47 Und wenn ihr nur eure Brüder begrüßet, was thut ihr besonderes? Thun nicht auch die Heiden dasselbe?
And if you only greet your brothers, what more do you do than others? Do not even the non-Jews do the same?
48 So sollt ihr denn vollkommen sein, wie euer himmlischer Vater vollkommen ist.
You therefore are to be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.
