Lukas 5
1 Es geschah aber, da ihm das Volk anlag und dem Worte Gottes zuhörte, stand er an dem See Gennesaret,
On one occasion, Jesus was standing beside the lake of Gennesaret, and the crowd was pressing in on him to listen to the word of God.
2 und sah zwei Fahrzeuge am Ufer liegen; die Fischer aber waren ausgestiegen, und reinigten die Netze.
He saw two boats moored beside the lake, but the fishermen had gotten out of them and were washing their nets.
3 Er stieg aber in eines der Schiffe, welches dem Simon gehörte, und bat ihn ein wenig vom Lande weg hinauszufahren, setzte sich und lehrte vom Schiff aus die Massen.
He got into one of the boats, the one that was Simon's, and asked him to put out a little way from the shore. Then he sat down and began teaching the crowds from the boat.
4 Wie er aber aufgehört zu sprechen, sagte er zu Simon: Fahret hinaus ins tiefe Wasser, und lasset eure Netze aus zum Fange.
When he finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Put out into the deep water and let down your nets for a catch.”
5 Und Simon antwortete: Meister, die ganze Nacht haben wir gearbeitet und nichts gefangen; auf dein Wort aber will ich die Netze auslassen.
Simon answered him, “Master, we have worked hard throughout the entire night and have caught nothing, but at yoʋr word I will let down the net.”
6 Und sie thaten es und fiengen eine große Menge Fische; es zerrissen aber ihre Netze,
When he and the men with him did so, they enclosed such a large number of fish that their net began to break.
7 und sie winkten ihren Genossen im anderen Schiffe, herbeizukommen und mit anzugreifen. Und sie kamen und füllten beide Schiffe, so daß sie tiefgiengen.
So they signaled to their partners in the other boat to come and assist them, and they came and filled both the boats, so that they began to sink.
8 Da es aber Simon sah, fiel er vor Jesus zu Füßen und sprach: gehe hinaus von mir, ich bin ein sündiger Mann, Herr.
When Simon Peter saw this, he fell down at Jesus' knees and said, “Depart from me, Lord, for I am a sinful man.”
9 Denn Staunen erfaßte ihn und alle seine Genossen über dem Fischfang, den sie gemacht,
For he and all who were with him were gripped with astonishment at the catch of fish they had taken,
10 ebenso auch den Jakobus und Johannes, die Söhne des Zebedäus, Kameraden des Simon. Und Jesus sprach zu Simon: Fürchte dich nicht; von jetzt an sollst du Menschenfischer sein.
and so were James and John, the sons of Zebedee, who were partners with Simon. Then Jesus said to Simon, “Do not be afraid; from now on yoʋ will be catching people.”
11 Und sie brachten die Schiffe ans Land, und verließen alles und folgten ihm.
So they brought their boats to shore, left everything, and followed Jesus.
12 Und es geschah, als er in einer der Städte war, siehe da war ein Mann, voll Aussatz; da er aber Jesus sah, warf er sich nieder aufs Angesicht, und bat ihn: Herr, so du willst, kannst du mich reinigen.
While Jesus was in one of the towns, behold, there was a man full of leprosy. When the man saw Jesus, he fell on his face and begged him, “Lord, if yoʋ are willing, yoʋ can make me clean.”
13 Und er streckte die Hand aus und rührte ihn an, indem er sprach: ich will es, werde rein. Und alsbald wich der Aussatz von ihm.
So Jesus stretched out his hand and touched him, saying, “I am willing; be made clean.” Immediately the leprosy left him.
14 Und er befahl ihm, es niemand zu sagen, sondern: gehe hin, zeige dich dem Priester, und opfere für deine Reinigung, wie es Moses verordnet hat, zum Zeugnis für sie.
Then Jesus ordered him to tell no one, but said, “Go show yoʋrself to the priest, and make an offering for yoʋr cleansing, just as Moses commanded, as a testimony to them.”
15 Aber die Kunde von ihm verbreitete sich nur noch mehr, und es kamen große Massen zusammen, zu hören und sich heilen zu lassen von ihren Krankheiten.
But the news about Jesus spread even more, and large crowds would gather together to hear him and to be healed by him of their infirmities.
16 Er aber hielt sich zurückgezogen in der Wüste im Gebet.
But he would often withdraw to desolate places and pray.
17 Und es geschah eines Tages, da war er am Lehren, und saßen da Pharisäer und Gesetzeslehrer, die gekommen waren aus allen Ortschaften von Galiläa und Judäa und Jerusalem, und die Kraft des Herrn wirkte, daß er heilte.
On one of those days, as he was teaching, some Pharisees and teachers of the law were sitting there. They had come from every village of Galilee, Judea, and Jerusalem, and the power of the Lord was present to heal the people.
18 Und siehe, Männer brachten auf einem Bette einen Menschen, der gelähmt war, und bemühten sich denselben hineinzubringen und vor ihn hinzusetzen.
And behold, some men brought on a bed a man who was paralyzed. They were trying to bring him in and place him before Jesus.
19 Und da es ihnen nicht gelang ihn hineinzubringen wegen der Menge, stiegen sie auf das Dach, und ließen ihn zwischen den Ziegeln herab samt seinem Lager mitten hinein vor Jesus.
But when they could not find a way to bring him in because of the crowd, they went up on the housetop and let him down through the tiles, together with his mat, into the middle of the crowd in front of Jesus.
20 Und da er ihren Glauben sah, sprach er: Mensch, deine Sünden sind dir vergeben.
When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the man, “Man, yoʋr sins are forgiven yoʋ.”
21 Und die Schriftgelehrten und Pharisäer begannen sich Gedanken zu machen und sagten: wer ist das, der da Lästerungen redet? Wer kann Sünden vergeben, außer Gott allein?
But the scribes and the Pharisees began to question what Jesus said: “Who is this that speaks blasphemies? Who can forgive sins but God alone?”
22 Da aber Jesus ihre Gedanken erkannte, antwortete er ihnen: Was macht ihr euch Gedanken in euren Herzen?
Aware of their thoughts, Jesus answered them, “Why are you questioning in your hearts?
23 Was ist leichter? zu sagen: deine Sünden sind dir vergeben, oder zu sagen: stehe auf und wandle?
Which is easier, to say, ‘Yoʋr sins are forgiven yoʋ,’ or to say, ‘Rise and walk’?
24 Damit ihr aber wisset, daß der Sohn des Menschen Vollmacht hat auf Erden Sünden zu vergeben (zu dem Gelähmten gewendet): ich sage dir, stehe auf, nimm dein Lager und gehe heim.
But so that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins”—he said to the paralyzed man—“I say to yoʋ, rise, pick up yoʋr mat, and go to yoʋr house.”
25 Und sogleich stand er auf vor ihnen, hob das Lager auf, auf welchem er gelegen, und gieng in sein Haus, Gott preisend.
Immediately the man rose up before them, picked up what he had been lying on, and went to his house, glorifying God.
26 Und Staunen ergriff sie alle und sie priesen Gott, und wurden voll Furcht, indem sie sagten: Unglaubliches haben wir heute gesehen.
Amazement seized them all, and they too began glorifying God. Filled with awe, they said, “We have seen extraordinary things today.”
27 Und nach diesem gieng er aus und sah einen Zöllner Namens Levi an der Zollstätte sitzen, und sagte zu ihm: folge mir.
After this Jesus went out and saw a tax collector named Levi sitting at the tax booth. Jesus said to him, “Follow me,”
28 Und er ließ alles zurück, stand auf und folgte ihm.
and leaving everything behind, Levi rose and followed him.
29 Und Levi veranstaltete ihm eine große Gastung in seinem Hause; und es saß eine große Menge von Zöllnern und andern, die es mit ihnen hielten, zu Tisch.
Then Levi gave a great banquet for Jesus in his house, and there was a large crowd of tax collectors and others reclining at the table with them.
30 Und die Pharisäer und ihre Schriftgelehrten murrten gegen seine Jünger und sagten: warum esset und trinket ihr mit den Zöllnern und Sündern?
But the scribes of the people and the Pharisees were grumbling at his disciples, saying, “Why are you eating and drinking with tax collectors and sinners?”
31 Und Jesus antwortete ihnen: nicht die Gesunden bedürfen des Arztes, sondern die Kranken;
Jesus answered them, “It is not those who are well who have need of a physician, but those who are sick.
32 nicht Gerechte zu rufen bin ich gekommen, sondern Sünder zur Buße.
I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.”
33 Sie aber sagten zu ihm: die Jünger Johannes' fasten beständig und verrichten Gebete, ebenso auch die der Pharisäer, aber die deinigen essen und trinken.
Then they said to him, “Why is it that the disciples of John often fast and offer prayers, and likewise the disciples of the Pharisees, but yoʋrs eat and drink?”
34 Jesus aber sagte zu ihnen: könnet ihr wohl die Hochzeitleute, so lange der Bräutigam bei ihnen ist, zum Fasten anhalten?
Jesus said to them, “Can you make the bridegroom's attendants fast while the bridegroom is with them?
35 Es werden aber Tage kommen - dann wenn der Bräutigam von ihnen genommen wird, werden sie fasten, in jenen Tagen.
But those days are coming, and when the bridegroom is taken away from them, they will fast in those days.”
36 Er sagte aber auch ein Gleichnis zu ihnen, nämlich: niemand reißet einen Lappen von einem neuen Kleid ab und setzt ihn auf ein altes; oder aber er zerreißt das neue, und zum alten paßt der Lappen vom neuen nicht.
He also told them a parable: “No one puts a patch from a new garment on an old garment. For not only would he tear the new garment, but the patch from the new garment would not match the old garment.
37 Und niemand legt neuen Wein in alte Schläuche; oder aber der neue Wein zerreißt die Schläuche, er selbst läuft aus und die Schläuche gehen zu Grund.
And no one puts new wine into old wineskins. For the new wine would burst the wineskins and would itself be spilled, and the wineskins would be ruined.
38 Sondern neuen Wein muß man in neue Schläuche legen.
But new wine must be put into new wineskins, and then both are preserved.
39 Und niemand, der alten Wein gewöhnt ist, mag gerne neuen: denn er sagt: der alte ist mild.
And no one after drinking old wine immediately desires new wine, for he says, ‘The old is better.’”
