Josua 24

1 Sodann versammelte Josua alle Stämme Israels nach Sichem und er berief die Vornehmsten Israels, sowie ihre Oberhäupter, ihre Richter und Amtleute, und sie stellten sich vor Gott auf.

And he gathered Joshua all [the] tribes of Israel Shechem towards and he summoned [the] elders of Israel and leaders its and judges its and officials its and they presented themselves before God.

2 Da sprach Josua zu dem ganzen Volke: So spricht Jahwe, der Gott Israels: In grauer Vorzeit wohnten eure Vorfahren jenseits des Stromes, Tharah, der Vater Abrahams und Nahors, und verehrten andere Götter.

And he said Joshua to all the people thus he says Yahweh [the] God of Israel on [the] other side of the river they dwelt ancestors your from long ago Terah [the] father of Abraham and [the] father of Nahor and they served gods other.

3 Da führte ich euren Ahnherrn Abraham aus dem Gebiete jenseits des Stromes hinweg und geleitete ihn durch das ganze Land Kanaan und gab ihm zahlreiche Nachkommen und schenkte ihm Isaak.

And I took ancestor your Abraham from [the] other side of the river and I led him in all [the] land of Canaan (and I increased *Qk) offspring his and I gave to him Isaac.

4 Isaak aber schenkte ich Jakob und Esau, und Esau verlieh ich das Gebirge Seir, damit er es in Besitz nehmen sollte; Jakob aber und seine Söhne zogen nach Ägpyten.

And I gave to Isaac Jacob and Esau and I gave to Esau [the] mountain of Seir to take possession of it and Jacob and sons his they went down Egypt.

5 Sodann sandte ich Mose und Aaron und suchte Ägypten heim mit Wunterthaten, die ich in ihm verrichtete. Hernach führte ich euch hinweg

And I sent Moses and Aaron and I struck Egypt just as I did in midst its and after I brought out you.

6 und ich führte eure Väter hinweg aus Ägypten, und ihr gelangtet ans Meer. Die Ägypter aber setzten euren Väter mit Streitwagen und Reitern nach ans Schilfmeer.

And I brought out fathers your from Egypt and you came the sea towards and they pursued Egypt after fathers your with chariotry and with horsemen [the] sea of reed[s].

7 Da riefen sie Jahwe um Hilfe an, und er bewirkte, daß zwischen euch und den Ägyptern dichte Finsternis eintrat; sodann ließ er das Meer über sie dahinfluten, so daß es sie bedeckte. Und ihr saht mit eigenen Augen, was ich den Ägyptern widerfahren ließ; sodann verweiltet ihr geraume Zeit in der Steppe.

And they cried out to Yahweh and he put darkness between you - and between the Egyptians and he brought over it the sea and it covered it and they saw eyes your [that] which I did in Egypt and you dwelt in the wilderness days many.

8 Hierauf brachte ich euch in das Land der Amoriter, die jenseits des Jordans ansässig waren, und sie kämpften mit euch. Aber ich gab sie in eure Gewalt, und ihr nahmt ihr Land in Besitz, und ich vertilgte sie vor euch.

(And I brought *QK) you to [the] land of the Amorite[s] who dwelt on [the] other side of the Jordan and they fought with you and I gave them in hand your and you took possession of land their and I destroyed them from before you.

9 Sodann trat Balak auf, der Sohn Zippors, der König von Moab, und kämpfte gegen Israel. Und er sandte hin und ließ Bileam, den Sohn Beors, rufen, damit er euch verwünsche.

And he arose Balak [the] son of Zippor [the] king of Moab and he fought against Israel and he sent and he summoned Balaam [the] son of Beor to curse you.

10 Ich war jedoch nicht willens, auf Bileam zu hören. Er aber segnete euch vielmehr, und so befreite ich euch aus seiner Gewalt.

And not I was willing to listen to Balaam and he blessed continuously you and I delivered you from hand his.

11 Sodann überschrittet ihr den Jordan und gelangtet nach Jericho; und die Bürger von Jericho kämpften gegen euch, die Amoriter, Pheresiter, Kanaaniter, Hethiter, Girgasiter, Heviter und Jebusiter, und ich gab sie in eure Gewalt.

And you passed over the Jordan and you came to Jericho and they fought against you [the] citizens of Jericho the Amorite[s] and the Perizzite[s] and the Canaanite[s] and the Hittite[s] and the Girgashite[s] the Hivite[s] and the Jebusite[s] and I gave them in hand your.

12 Und ich sandte die Hornissen vor euch her, und sie vertrieben sie vor euch, die zwölf Könige der Amoriter - nicht durch dein Schwert und nicht durch deinen Bogen!

And I sent before you the hornet and it drove out them from before you [the] two [the] kings of the Amorite[s] not by sword your and not by bow your.

13 Und ich verlieh euch ein Land, um das du dich nicht gemüht hattest, und Städte, die ihr nicht bebaut hattet und nahmt doch Wohnung in ihnen; Weinberge und Olivengärten, die ihr nicht gepflanzt hattet, bekamt ihr zu genießen.

And I gave to you a land - which not you had labored for it and cities which not you had built and you dwelt in them vineyards and olive trees which not you had planted you [are] eating.

14 So fürchtet nun Jahwe und dienet ihm mit Aufrichtigkeit und Treue und schafft die Götter weg, denen eure Vorfahren jenseits des Stromes und in Ägypten gedient haben, und dienet Jahwe!

And therefore fear Yahweh and serve him in integrity and in faithfulness and remove [the] gods which they served ancestors your on [the] other side of the river and in Egypt and serve Yahweh.

15 Mißfällt es euch aber, Jahwe zu dienen, so entscheidet euch heute, wem ihr dienen wollt, - ob den Göttern, denen eure Vorfahren, die jenseits des Stromes wohnten, gedient haben, oder den Göttern der Amoriter, in deren Lande ihr euren Wohnsitz habt; ich aber und mein Haus wollen Jahwe dienen!

And if [is] displeasing in eyes your to serve Yahweh choose for yourselves this day whom? will you serve! whether [the] gods which they served ancestors your who ([were] from [the] other side of *QK) the river and or [the] gods of the Amorite[s] whom you [are] dwelling in land their and I and household my we will serve Yahweh.

16 Da antwortete das Volk und sprach: Ferne sei es von uns, daß wir Jahwe verlassen sollten, um anderen Göttern zu dienen!

And it answered the people and it said far be it to us from forsaking Yahweh to serve gods other.

17 Vielmehr Jahwe ist unser Gott; er war es, der uns und unsere Väter aus Ägypten, wo wir Sklaven waren, hergeführt und der vor unseren Augen diese großen Wunder verrichtet hat und uns überall auf dem Wege, den wir zurückgelegt haben, und unter allen den Völkern, durch die wir mitten hindurchgezogen sind, behütete.

For Yahweh God our he [is] the [one who] brought up us and fathers our from [the] land of Egypt from a house of slaves and [the one] who he did to eyes our the signs great these and he kept us in all the way which we went in it and among all the peoples which we passed in midst their.

18 Und Jahwe vertrieb vor uns alle Völker und die Amoriter, die Bewohner des Landes. Auch wir wollen Jahwe dienen, denn er ist unser Gott!

And he drove out Yahweh all the peoples and the Amorite[s] [who] dwelt of the land from before us also we we will serve Yahweh for he [is] God our.

19 Josua sprach zu dem Volke: Ihr seid nicht imstande, Jahwe zu dienen, denn er ist ein heiliger Gott; ein eifersüchtiger Gott ist er: er wird euch eure Übertretung und eure Sünden nicht vergeben!

And he said Joshua to the people not you will be able to serve Yahweh for [is] a God holy he [is] a God jealous he not he will forgive to transgression your and sins your.

20 Wenn ihr Jahwe verlassen und ausländischen Göttern dienen werdet, so wird er sich abwenden und euch Unheil widerfahren lassen und euch vertilgen, nachdem er es euch hatte wohl gehen lassen.

If you will forsake Yahweh and you will serve gods of foreignness and he will turn and he will do harm to you and he will make an end of you after that he has done good to you.

21 Das Volk sprach zu Josua: Nein, sondern Jahwe wollen wir dienen!

And it said the people to Joshua In-deed Yahweh we will serve.

22 Da sprach Josua zu dem Volke: Ihr seid Zeugen gegen euch selbst, daß ihr euch dafür entschieden habt, Jahwe dienen zu wollen. Sie sprachen: Jawohl!

And he said Joshua to the people [are] witnesses you on yourselves that you you have chosen for yourselves Yahweh to serve him and they said witnesses.

23 So schafft nun die ausländischen Götter weg, die unter euch sind, und neigt eure Herzen Jahwe, dem Gott Israels, zu!

And therefore remove [the] gods of foreignness which [are] in midst your and turn heart your to Yahweh [the] God of Israel.

24 Das Volk sprach zu Josua: Jahwe, unserem Gotte, wollen wir dienen und seiner Stimme gehorchen!

And they said the people to Joshua Yahweh God our we will serve and to voice his we will listen.

25 Und Josua stellte jenes Tags die Bundesverpflichtung für das Volk fest und gab ihm dort in Sichem Gesetz und Recht.

And he made Joshua a covenant to the people on the day that and he established for it a decree and a judgment at Shechem.

26 Und Josua zeichnete diesen Vorgang auf im Gesetzbuche Gottes; sodann nahm er einen großen Stein und richtete ihn dort auf unter der Eiche, die sich im Heiligtume Jahwes befindet.

And he wrote Joshua the words these in [the] book of [the] law of God and he took a stone large and he set up it there under the oak which [was] at [the] sanctuary of Yahweh.

27 Und Josua sprach zu dem ganzen Volke: Wohlan, dieser Stein soll Zeuge gegen uns sein, denn er hat alle die Worte gehört, die Jahwe mit uns geredet hat; darum soll er Zeuge gegen euch sein, damit ihr euren Gott nicht verleugnet!

And he said Joshua to all the people here! the stone this it will become on us a witness for it it has heard all [the] words of Yahweh which he has spoken with us and it will become on you a witness lest you should deny! God your.

28 Hierauf entließ Josua das Volk, einen jeden in sein Besitztum.

And he sent away Joshua the people everyone to own inheritance his.

29 Nach diesen Begebenheiten starb Josua, der Sohn Nuns, der Knecht Jahwes, im Alter von hundertundzehn Jahren,

And it was after the things these and he died Joshua [the] son of Nun [the] servant of Yahweh a son of one hundred and ten years.

30 und man begrub ihn im Bereiche seines Erbbesitzes, zu Thimnath Serah auf dem Gebirge Ephraim, nördlich vom Berge Gaas.

And people buried him in [the] territory of inheritance his at Timnath Serah which [is] in [the] hill country of Ephraim from [the] north of [the] mountain of Gaash.

31 Und Israel diente Jahwe, so lange Josua lebte und die Vornehmen, die Josua überlebten und die alle die Thaten kannten, die Jahwe für Israel gethan hatte.

And it served Israel Yahweh all [the] days of Joshua and all - [the] days of the old [men] who they made long days after Joshua and who they knew all [the] work of Yahweh which he had done for Israel.

32 Die Gebeine Josephs aber, welche die Israeliten aus Ägypten mitgebracht hatten, begrub man zu Sichem auf dem Feldstücke, welches Jakob von den Söhnen Hemors, des Vaters Sichems, um den Preis von hundert Kesita erworben und Joseph zum Erbbesitze verliehen hatte.

And [the] bones of Joseph which they had brought up [the] people of Israel - from Egypt they buried at Shechem in [the] portion of the field which he had bought Jacob from with [the] sons of Hamor [the] father of Shechem for a hundred piece[s] of money and they became of [the] descendants of Joseph an inheritance.

33 Und als Eleasar, der Sohn Aarons, gestorben war, begrub man ihn zu Gibea, der Stadt seines Sohnes Pinehas, die ihm auf dem Gebirge Ephraim verliehen worden war.

And Eleazar [the] son of Aaron he died and people buried him at Gibeah of Phinehas son his which it had been given to him in [the] hill country of Ephraim.
