Job 8
1 Dann antwortete Bildad von Suah und sprach:
THEN answered Bildad the Shuhite, and said,
2 Wie lange willst du solches reden, und sind ein heftiger Wind deines Mundes Worte?
How long wilt thou speak these things? and how long shall the words of thy mouth be like a strong wind?
3 Beugt etwa Gott das Recht oder beugt der Allmächtige gerechte Sache?
Doth God pervert judgment? or doth the Almighty pervert justice?
4 Wenn deine Kinder gegen ihn gesündigt haben, so lieferte er sie ihrem Frevel aus.
If thy children have sinned against him, and he have cast them away for their transgression;
5 Wenn du dich ernstlich an Gott wendest und zum Allmächtigen um Gnade flehst, -
If thou wouldest seek unto God betimes, and make thy supplication to the Almighty;
6 wenn du lauter und redlich bist, so wird er alsbald für dich wach werden und deine Wohnstätte in der du als Gerechter weilst, wieder herstellen.
If thou wert pure and upright; surely now he would awake for thee, and make the habitation of thy righteousness prosperous.
7 Dann wird dann dein früheres Los armselig erscheinen, aber herrlich groß wird das nachmalige sein.
Though thy beginning was small, yet thy latter end should greatly increase.
8 Denn befrage nur frühere Geschlechter und achte auf das, was ihre Väter erforschten.
For inquire, I pray thee, of the former age, and prepare thyself to the search of their fathers:
9 Denn wir sind von gestern und wissen nichts, weil unsere Tage nur ein Schatten sind auf Erden.
(For we are but of yesterday, and know nothing, because our days upon earth are a shadow: )
10 Sie aber werden dich belehren, dir es sagen und aus ihrer Einsicht Kunde geben.
Shall not they teach thee, and tell thee, and utter words out of their heart?
11 “Wächst, wo kein Sumpf ist, Papyrus? Schießt Riedgras ohne Wasser auf?
Can the rush grow up without mire? can the flag grow without water?
12 “Noch steht's in seinem frischen Trieb, wo es nicht abgeschnitten werden kann, aber vor allem Grase verdorrt es.
Whilst it is yet in his greenness, and not cut down, it withereth before any other herb.
13 “Das ist das Ende Aller, die Gottes vergessen, und des Ruchlosen Hoffnung wird zu nichte.
So are the paths of all that forget God; and the hypocrite’s hope shall perish:
14 Seine Zuversicht ist ein Sommerfaden, und ein Spinnengewebe ist's, worauf er vertraut.
Whose hope shall be cut off, and whose trust shall be a spider’s web.
15 “Er stützt sich auf sein Haus, aber es hält nicht Stand; er hält sich daran fest, doch es bleibt nicht stehn.
He shall lean upon his house, but it shall not stand: he shall hold it fast, but it shall not endure.
16 “Frisch grünt er angesichts der Sonne, und über seinen Garten laufen seine Senker aus.
He is green before the sun, and his branch shooteth forth in his garden.
17 “Um Geröll verflechten sich seine Wurzeln, zwischen Steinen bohrt er sich hindurch.
His roots are wrapped about the heap, and seeth the place of stones.
18 “Doch wenn er ihn wegtilgt von seinem Standort, so verleugnet ihn der: Ich sah dich nie!
If he destroy him from his place, then it shall deny him, saying, I have not seen thee.
19 “Sieh', das ist die Wonne seines Lebenswegs, und aus dem Staube sprossen andre auf!”
Behold, this is the joy of his way, and out of the earth shall others grow.
20 Nein, Gott verschmäht den Frommen nicht und hält der Missethäter Hand nicht fest.
Behold, God will not cast away a perfect man, neither will he help the evil doers:
21 Noch wird er deinen Mund mit Lachen erfüllen und deine Lippen mit Jauchzen.
Till he fill thy mouth with laughing, and thy lips with rejoicing.
22 Die dich hassen, werden sich mit Schande bedecken, aber das Zelt der Frevler wird verschwunden sein.
They that hate thee shall be clothed with shame; and the dwelling place of the wicked shall come to nought.
