Job 40
1 Und Jahwe antwortete Hiob und sprach:
Moreouer ye Lord spake vnto Iob, and said,
2 Hadern mit dem Allmächtigen will der Tadler? Der Ankläger Gottes antwortete darauf!
Is this to learne to striue with the Almightie? he that reprooueth God, let him answere to it.
3 Dann antwortete Hiob Jahwe und sprach:
Then Iob answered the Lord, saying,
4 Fürwahr, zu gering bin ich; was soll ich dir erwidern? Ich lege meine Hand auf meinen Mund.
Beholde, I am vile: what shall I answere thee? I will lay mine hand vpon my mouth.
5 Einmal habe ich geredet und werde es nicht wiederholen - ein zweites Mal, und werde es nicht wieder thun!
Once haue I spoken, but I will answere no more, yea twise, but I will proceede no further.
6 Dann antwortete Jahwe Hiob aus Wettersturm und sprach:
Againe the Lord answered Iob out of the whirle winde, and said,
7 Auf, gürte deine Lenden wie ein Mann: Ich will dich fragen und du belehre mich!
Girde vp now thy loynes like a man: I will demaunde of thee, and declare thou vnto me.
8 Willst du gar mein Recht zunichte machen, mich verdammen, damit du Recht behaltest?
Wilt thou disanul my iudgement? or wilt thou condemne me, that thou mayst be iustified?
9 Hast du denn einen Arm wie Gott und vermagst du mit gleichem Schall wie er zu donnern?
Or hast thou an arme like God? or doest thou thunder with a voyce like him?
10 Schmücke dich doch mit Majestät und Hoheit! Umkleide dich mit Glanz und Herrlichkeit!
Decke thy selfe now with maiestie and excellencie, and aray thy selfe with beautie and glory.
11 Laß sich ergießen deines Zornes Fluten und wirf mit einem Blicke jeden Stolzen nieder!
Cast abroad the indignation of thy wrath, and beholde euery one that is proude, and abase him.
12 Mit einem Blicke demütige jeden Stolzen und strecke die Gottlosen zu Boden.
Looke on euery one that is arrogant, and bring him lowe: and destroy the wicked in their place.
13 Birg sie im Staube allzumal, banne ihr Angesicht an verborgenem Ort,
Hide them in the dust together, and binde their faces in a secret place.
14 so will auch ich dich loben, daß deine Rechte dir Sieg verschafft!
Then will I confesse vnto thee also, that thy right hand can saue thee.
15 Sieh nur das Nilpferd, das ich schuf wie dich; Gras frißt es wie ein Rind!
Behold now Behemoth (whom I made with thee) which eateth grasse as an oxe.
16 Sieh nur seine Kraft in seinen Lenden und seine Stärke in den Muskeln seines Leibes.
Behold now, his strength is in his loynes, and his force is in the nauil of his belly.
17 Es streckt seinen Schwanz wie eine Ceder aus, die Sehnen seiner Schenkel sind dicht verschlungen.
When hee taketh pleasure, his taile is like a cedar: the sinews of his stones are wrapt together.
18 Seine Knochen sind Röhren von Erz, seine Gebeine wie ein eiserner Stab.
His bones are like staues of brasse, and his small bones like staues of yron.
19 Das ist der Erstling von Gottes Walten; der es schuf, reicht dar sein Schwert.
He is the chiefe of the wayes of God: he that made him, will make his sworde to approch vnto him.
20 Denn Futter tragen ihm die Berge, wo alle Tiere des Feldes spielen.
Surely the mountaines bring him foorth grasse, where all the beastes of the fielde play.
21 Unter Lotusbüschen lagert es, im Versteck von Rohr und Schilf.
Lyeth hee vnder the trees in the couert of the reede and fennes?
22 Lotusbüsche überdachen es, um ihm Schatten zu geben, des Baches Weiden umfangen es.
Can the trees couer him with their shadow? or can the willowes of the riuer compasse him about?
23 Wenn der Strom anschwillt, bangt es nicht, bleibt ruhig, wenn ein Jordan gegen seinen Rachen andringt.
Behold, he spoyleth the riuer, and hasteth not: he trusteth that he can draw vp Iorden into his mouth.
24 Vermag es einer von vorn zu packen, mit Sprenkeln ihm die Nase zu durchbohren?
Hee taketh it with his eyes, and thrusteth his nose through whatsoeuer meeteth him.
