Job 36
1 Weiter fuhr Elihu also fort:
And Elius further continued, and said,
2 Warte mir ein wenig, daß ich dich unterweise, denn noch stehen Gott Worte zu Gebote.
Wait for me yet a little while, that I may teach you: for there is yet speech in me.
3 Ich will mein Wissen fernher entnehmen und meinem Schöpfer Recht verschaffen.
Having fetched my knowledge from afar, and according to my works,
4 Denn wahrlich, meine Worte lügen nicht; mit einem Manne von vollkommener Erkenntnis hast du's zu thun.
I will speak just things truly, and you shall not unjustly receive unjust words.
5 Siehe, Gott ist gewaltig, doch verschmäht er niemand, gewaltig an Kraft des Geistes.
But know that the Lord will not cast off an innocent man: being mighty in strength of wisdom,
6 Er erhält den Gottlosen nicht am Leben, aber den Elenden gewährt er Recht.
he will not by any means save alive the ungodly: and he will grant the judgment of the poor.
7 Er zieht seine Augen nicht ab von dem Frommen und bei Königen auf dem Thron - da läßt er sie immerdar sitzen, daß sie erhöht seien.
He will not turn away his eyes from the righteous, but [they shall be] with kings on the throne: and he will establish them in triumph, and they shall be exalted.
8 Und wenn sie mit Ketten gebunden sind, gefangen gehalten werden von Stricken des Elends,
But they that are bound in fetters shall be holden in cords of poverty.
9 und er ihnen ihr Thun vorhält und ihre Sünden, daß sie sich überhoben,
And he shall recount to them their works, and their transgressions, for such will act with violence.
10 und er so ihr Ohr der Warnung aufthut und sie umkehren heißt vom Frevel:
But he will listen to the righteous: and he has said that they shall turn from unrighteousness.
11 Wenn sie gehorchen und sich unterwerfen, so werden sie ihre Tage im Glück und ihre Jahre in Wonne verbringen.
If they should hear and serve [him], they shall spend their days in prosperity, and their years in honor.
12 Gehorchen sie aber nicht, so fahren sie dahin durch Geschosse und verhauchen in Verblendung.
But he preserves not the ungodly; because they are not willing to know the Lord, and because when reproved they were disobedient.
13 Denn als Leute von ruchlosem Sinn hegen sie Zorn, schreien nicht, wenn er sie fesselt;
And the hypocrites in heart will array wrath [against themselves]; they will not cry, because he has bound them.
14 in der Jugendfrische stirbt ihre Seele dahin, und ihr Leben wie das der Lustbuben.
Therefore let their soul die in youth, and their life be wounded by messengers [of death].
15 Erretten wird er den Elenden durch sein Elend und thut ihnen durch die Drangsal das Ohr auf.
Because they afflicted the weak and helpless: and he will vindicate the judgment of the meek.
16 Und er lockt auch dich aus dem Rachen der Not auf weiten Plan, wo keine Beengung ist, und was auf deinen Tisch kommt, ist reich an Fett.
And he has also enticed you out of the mouth of the enemy:
17 Bist du aber erfüllt vom Urteile des Gottlosen, so werden Urteil und Gericht dich festhalten.
[there is] a deep gulf [and] a rushing stream beneath it, and your table came down full of fatness. Judgment shall not fail from the righteous;
18 Denn Grimm verführe dich nicht zu Hohn, und des Lösegelds Größe verleite dich nicht.
but there shall be wrath upon the ungodly, by reason of the ungodliness of the bribes which they received for iniquities.
19 Wird er deinem Schreien anders abhelfen, als durch Bedrängnis und alle Kraftanstrengungen?
Let not [your] mind willingly turn you aside from the petition of the feeble that are in distress.
20 Lechze nicht nach der Nacht, daß Völker auffahren an ihrer Stelle,
And draw not forth all the mighty [men] by night, so that the people should go up instead of them.
21 Hüte dich, wende dich nicht zum Frevel; denn dazu hast du mehr Lust als zum Leiden.
But take heed lest you do that which is wrong: for of this you has made choice because of poverty.
22 Siehe, Gott wirkt erhaben in seiner Kraft; wer ist ein Herrscher wie er?
Behold, the Mighty One shall prevail by his strength: for who is powerful as he is?
23 Wer hat ihm seinen Weg vorgeschrieben, und wer gesagt: du hast Unrecht gethan?
And who is he that examines his works? or who can say, he has wrought injustice?
24 Gedenke, daß du sein Thun erhebst, welches die Menschen besingen!
Remember that his works are great [beyond] those which men have attempted.
25 Alle Menschen schauen ihre Lust daran; der Sterbliche erblickt es von ferne.
Every man has seen in himself, how many mortals are wounded.
26 Ja, Gott ist erhaben und unbegreiflich für uns, die Zahl seiner Jahre nicht zu erforschen.
Behold, the Mighty One is great, and we shall not know [him]: the number of his years is even infinite.
27 Denn er zählt des Wassers Tropfen ab, daß sie infolge seines Nebels Regen sickern,
And the drops of rain are numbered by him, and shall be poured out in rain to form a cloud.
28 den die Wolken rieseln lassen, auf viele Menschen niederträufeln.
The ancient [heavens] shall flow, and the clouds overshadow innumerable mortals: he has fixed a time to cattle, and they know the order of rest. [Yet] by all these things your understanding is not astonished, neither is your mind disturbed in [your] body.
29 Und vollends, wenn man die Ausbreitungen des Gewölks verstände, das Krachen seines Gezelts!
And though one should understand the outspreadings of the clouds, [or] the measure of his tabernacle;
30 Siehe, er breitet um sich aus sein Licht und bedeckt die Wurzeln des Meers.
behold he will stretch his bow against him, and he covers the bottom of the sea.
31 Denn damit richtet er Völker, giebt Speise zugleich im Überfluß.
For by them he will judge the nations: he will give food to him that has strength.
32 Beide Hände bedeckt er mit Licht und entbietet es gegen den Widersacher.
He has hidden the light in [his] hands, and given charge concerning it to the interposing [cloud].
33 Ihn meldet an sein Dröhnen, ihn, der seinen Zorn gegen das Unrecht eifern laßt.
The Lord will declare concerning this [to] his friend: [but there is] a portion also for unrighteousness.
