Job 3
1 Endlich öffnete Hiob den Mund und verfluchte seinen Geburtstag.
After thus he opened Job mouth his and he cursed day his.
2 Und Hiob hob an und sprach:
And he answered Job and he said.
3 Verflucht sei der Tag, an dem ich geboren, und die Nacht, die da sprach: es ward ein Knabe empfangen!
Let it perish [the] day [which] I was born on it and the night [which] it said he has been conceived a man.
4 Dieser Tag müsse finster bleiben: nicht frage nach ihm Gott in der Höhe, noch erglänze über ihm Tageshelle!
The day that let it be darkness may not he care for it God above and may not it shine forth on it daylight.
5 Zurückfordern sollen ihn Finsternis und Tiefdunkel; Wolkendickicht lagere über ihm, und Tagverdüsterung möge ihn erschrecken.
Let them reclaim it darkness and deep darkness let it settle down over it cloud let them terrify it [the] darkness of day.
6 Jene Nacht - sie sei ein Raub der Finsternis: nicht soll sie sich freuen unter des Jahres Tagen und in die Zahl der Monde trete sie nicht ein.
The night that let it take it darkness may not it rejoice among [the] days of [the] year in [the] number of [the] months may not it come.
7 Ja, diese Nacht sei unfruchtbar: kein Jubelruf soll sie durchdringen.
There! the night that let it be barren may not it come a cry of joy in it.
8 Es sollen sie verwünschen, die den Tag verfluchen, die fähig sind, den Drachen anzuhetzen.
Let them curse it cursers of a day the [ones] ready to rouse Leviathan.
9 Es müssen sich verfinstern ihrer Dämmerung Sterne; sie harre auf Licht - umsonst! und niemals schaue sie der Morgenröte Wimpern,
Let them grow dark [the] stars of twilight its let it wait for light and not and may not it look on [the] eyelids of dawn.
10 weil sie mir nicht verschloß des Mutterleibes Pforten, nicht barg das Elend vor meinen Augen!
For not it shut [the] doors of womb my and it hid trouble from eyes my.
11 Warum starb ich nicht im Mutterleibe, verschied ich nicht, als ich herausgetreten aus dem Mutterschoß?
Why? not from [the] womb did I die from [the] belly I came forth and I may expire?
12 Warum empfingen mich Kniee, und wozu Brüste, daß ich sog?
Why? did they receive me knees and why? breasts that I will suck.
13 So läge ich nun und rastete, wäre entschlafen und hätte Ruhe
For now I lay down and I may be at peace I slept then - it is at rest to me.
14 bei Königen und Ratsherren der Länder, die Pyramiden für sich bauten,
With kings and counselors of [the] earth the [ones who] rebuilt ruins for themselves.
15 oder mit Fürsten, reich an Gold, die ihre Häuser mit Silber füllten.
Or with princes [whom] gold [belonged] to them those [who] filled houses their silver.
16 Oder einer verscharrten Fehlgeburt gleich wäre ich nicht ins Dasein getreten, Kindern gleich, die nie das Licht geschaut.
Or like a miscarriage hidden not was I? like children [who] not they have seen light.
17 Dort hören Frevler auf mit Toben, dort haben Ruhe, deren Kraft erschöpft.
There wicked [people] they cease turmoil and there they rest weary [ones] of strength.
18 Es rasten die Gefangenen allzumal, sie hören nicht des Fronvogts Ruf.
Together prisoners they are at ease not they hear [the] voice of a taskmaster.
19 Klein und groß gilt dort gleich, und frei ist der Knecht von seinem Herrn!
Small and great [is] there he and a slave [is] free from master his.
20 Warum schenkt er dem Elenden das Licht und Tiefbetrübten das Leben? -
Why? does someone give to a sufferer light and life to [people] bitter of soul.
21 die da harren auf den Tod, er aber kommt nicht, die nach ihm graben, eifriger als nach Schätzen;
Those [who] long for death and there not [is] it and they dug for it more than hidden treasures.
22 die sich freuen würden bis zum Jubel, jauchzen würden, wenn sie das Grab fänden -
The joyful [people] to rejoicing they exult if they find [the] grave.
23 dem Manne, dessen Pfad verborgen ist, den Gott ringsum abgesperrt hat?
To a man whom way his it is hidden and he has made inaccessible God behind him.
24 Denn Seufzen ward mein täglich Brot, und gleich dem Wasser strömen meine Klagen.
If before food my groaning my it comes and they poured forth like water cries of distress my.
25 Denn graute mir vor etwas, so traf es mich, und wovor ich schauderte, das ward mir zu Teil.
For a fear I feared and it came to me and [that] which I dreaded it came to me.
26 Noch fand ich nicht Ruhe, nicht Rast, nicht Frieden, da kam schon neues Toben!
Not I am at ease - and not I am at peace and not I am at rest and it has come turmoil.
