Jesaja 41
1 Hört mir schweigend zu, ihr Inseln, und harrt meiner Darlegung, ihr Völkerschaften. Sie mögen herantreten, alsdann mögen sie reden - zusammen laßt uns zum Gericht herzutreten!
Keep silence before Me, O islands, and let the peoples renew their strength; let them draw near, then let them speak; let us come near together to judgment.
2 Wer hat vom Osten her erweckt ihn, dem Recht entgegenkommt auf jedem Schritte? Wer unterwirft ihm Völker und stürzt vor ihm Könige? Wer macht ihr Schwert dem Staube gleich, verwehten Stoppeln ihren Bogen?
Who hath raised up one from the east, at whose steps victory attendeth? He giveth nations before him, and maketh him rule over kings; his sword maketh them as the dust, his bow as the driven stubble.
3 Er verfolgt sie, zieht unversehrt daher, einen Pfad betritt er nicht auf seinem Marsche.
He pursueth them, and passeth on safely; the way with his feet he treadeth not.
4 Wer hat's gethan und ausgeführt? Er, der von Anfang an die Geschlechter der Menschen ins Leben rief: Ich, Jahwe, der ich uranfänglich und bei den Letzten noch immer derselbe bin!
Who hath wrought and done it? He that called the generations from the beginning. I, the LORD, who am the first, and with the last am the same.
5 Es sahen's die Inseln und gerieten in Furcht, die Enden der Erde erzitterten; sie vereinigten sich und kamen herbei.
The isles saw, and feared; the ends of the earth trembled; they drew near, and came.
6 Einer brachte dem andern Hilfe und sprach zu seinem Genossen: Fasse Mut!
They helped every one his neighbour; and every one said to his brother: 'Be of good courage.'
7 Und der Künstler ermutigte den Goldschmied, der mit dem Hammer glättet den, der den Ambos schlägt, indem er von der Lötung sagte: Sie ist gut! Und dann befestigte er das Götterbild mit Nägeln, daß es nicht wanken kann.
So the carpenter encouraged the goldsmith, and he that smootheth with the hammer him that smiteth the anvil, saying of the soldering: 'It is good'; and he fastened it with nails, that it should not be moved.
8 Aber du, Israel, mein Knecht, Jakob, den ich erwählt habe, du Same Abrahams, meines Freundes,
But thou, Israel, My servant, Jacob whom I have chosen, the seed of Abraham My friend;
9 du, den ich von den Enden der Erde herbeigeholt und aus ihren entlegensten Gegenden berufen habe, indem ich zu dir sprach: Mein Knecht bist du, ich habe dich erwählt und dich nicht verschmäht!
Thou whom I have taken hold of from the ends of the earth, and called thee from the uttermost parts thereof, and said unto thee: 'Thou art My servant, I have chosen thee and not cast thee away';
10 Sei getrost, denn ich bin mit dir! Blicke nicht ängstlich, denn ich bin dein Gott: Ich mache dich stark, ja ich helfe dir; ja, ich halte dich fest mit meiner Recht wirkenden Rechten.
Fear thou not, for I am with thee, be not dismayed, for I am thy God; I strengthen thee, yea, I help thee; yea, I uphold thee with My victorious right hand.
11 Fürwahr, es sollen zu Schanden werden und in Schmach falle alle, die gegen dich entbrannt sind; es sollen zu nichte werden und zu Grunde gehen die Leute, die wider dich streiten.
Behold, all they that were incensed against thee shall be ashamed and confounded; they that strove with thee shall be as nothing, and shall perish.
12 Du wirst sie suchen und nicht mehr finden, die Leute, die mit dir hadern; zu nichte sollen werden und wie eitel nichts die Leute, die dich bekämpfen.
Thou shalt seek them, and shalt not find them, even them that contended with thee; they that warred against thee shall be as nothing, and as a thing of nought.
13 Denn ich, Jahwe, dein Gott, halte dich fest bei deiner Rechten, ich, der zu dir spricht: Sei getrost, ich helfe dir!
For I the LORD thy God hold thy right hand, who say unto thee: 'Fear not, I help thee.'
14 Sei getrost, du Wurm Jakob, du Häuflein Israel; ich helfe dir, ist der Spruch Jahwes, und dein Erlöser ist der Heilige Israels!
Fear not, thou worm Jacob, and ye men of Israel; I help thee, saith the LORD, and thy Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel.
15 Siehe, ich mache dich zu einer neuen scharfen Dreschwalze mit vielen Schneiden: Du wirst die Berge dreschen und zermalmen und die Hügel der Spreu gleichmachen!
Behold, I make thee a new threshing-sledge having sharp teeth; thou shalt thresh the mountains, and beat them small, and shalt make the hills as chaff.
16 Du wirst sie worfeln, und der Wind wird sie davonführen, und der Sturmwind wird sie auseinanderfegen. Du aber wirst frohlocken über Jahwe, des Heiligen Israels wirst du dich berühmen.
Thou shalt fan them, and the wind shall carry them away, and the whirlwind shall scatter them; and thou shalt rejoice in the LORD, thou shalt glory in the Holy One of Israel.
17 Die Elenden und die Armen suchen nach Wasser, aber es ist keines da: ihre Zunge lechzt vor Durst. Ich, Jahwe, will sie erhören, ich, der Gott Israels, will sie nicht verlassen.
The poor and needy seek water and there is none, and their tongue faileth for thirst; I the LORD will answer them, I the God of Israel will not forsake them.
18 Ich will auf kahlen Höhen Flüsse hervorbrechen lassen und Quellen inmitten der Thäler; ich will die Wüste zu einem Wasserteiche machen und dürres Land zum Quellorte von Gewässern.
I will open rivers on the high hills, and fountains in the midst of the valleys; I will make the wilderness a pool of water, and the dry land springs of water.
19 Ich will die Wüste besetzen mit Cedern, Akazien, Myrten- und Ölbäumen und die Steppe ausstatten mit Cypressen, Ulmen und Buchsbäumen zugleich,
I will plant in the wilderness the cedar, the acacia-tree, and the myrtle, and the oil-tree; I will set in the desert the cypress, the plane-tree, and the larch together;
20 damit sie insgesamt sehen und erkennen und beherzigen und einsehen, daß die Hand Jahwes dies gethan und der Heilige Israels es ins Leben gerufen hat.
That they may see, and know, and consider, and understand together, that the hand of the LORD hath done this, and the Holy One of Israel hath created it.
21 Bringt eure Streitsache vor! spricht Jahwe; legt eure Beweisgründe dar! spricht der König Jakobs.
Produce your cause, saith the LORD; bring forth your reasons, saith the King of Jacob.
22 Mögen sie herzutreten und uns kund thun, was sich ereignen wird! Thut kund, was es mit dem Früheren auf sich hatte, daß wir unseren Sinn darauf richten und den Ausgang davon erkennen! Oder laßt uns das Kommende hören!
Let them bring them forth, and declare unto us the things that shall happen; the former things, what are they? Declare ye, that we may consider, and know the end of them; or announce to us things to come.
23 Thut kund, was späterhin kommen wird, damit wir erkennen, daß ihr Götter seid; ja, thut nur irgend etwas Gutes oder Schlimmes, daß wir insgesamt uns verwundern und etwas zu sehen bekommen.
Declare the things that are to come hereafter, that we may know that ye are gods; yea, do good, or do evil, that we may be dismayed, and behold it together.
24 Wahrlich, ihr seid gar nichts, und euer Thun ganz nichtig, ein Greuel der, der euch erwählt!
Behold, ye are nothing, and your work a thing of nought; an abomination is he that chooseth you.
25 Ich habe einen erweckt vom Norden her und er kam, vom Aufgange der Sonne her ihn, der meinen Namen verkündigt, daß er Statthalter zertrete wie Lehm und wie ein Töpfer, der Thon tritt.
I have roused up one from the north, and he is come, from the rising of the sun one that calleth upon My name; and he shall come upon rulers as upon mortar, and as the potter treadeth clay.
26 Wer hat es kund gethan von Anfang an, daß wir's erkenneten, und im voraus, daß wir hätten sagen können: er hat Recht? Aber da ist keiner, der es kund thäte, keiner, der es hören ließe, niemand, der eure Worte hörte!
Who hath declared from the beginning, that we may know? and beforetime, that we may say that he is right? Yea, there is none that declareth, yea, there is none that announceth, yea, there is none that heareth your utterances.
27 Als erster verkündige ich Zion: Siehe, da sind sie, deine Kinder! und Jerusalem widme ich einen Freudenboten!
A harbinger unto Zion will I give: 'Behold, behold them', and to Jerusalem a messenger of good tidings.
28 Und sehe ich hin, so ist niemand da, und unter diesen da giebt's keinen Berater, daß ich sie befragte und sie mir Bescheid gäben!
And I look, but there is no man; even among them, but there is no counsellor, that, when I ask of them, can give an answer.
29 Fürwahr, sie alle sind nichtsnützig und nichtig sind ihre Machwerke und leerer Lufthauch ihre Götterbilder!
Behold, all of them, their works are vanity and nought; their molten images are wind and confusion.
