Jesaja 3
1 Denn hinwegnehmen wird der Herr, Jahwe der Heerscharen, jede Art von Stütze aus Jerusalem und Juda, jede Stütze an Brot und jede Stütze an Wasser:
For lo! the Lord, Yahweh of hosts, removing from Jerusalem and from Judah, The stay and staff, —The whole stay of bread, And the whole stay of water:
2 Helden und Kriegsleute, Richter und Propheten, Wahrsager und Vornehme,
Man of might and man of war, —Judge and prophet And diviner and elder;
3 Hauptleute und Hochangesehene und Ratsherren und Kunstverständige und Zaubereikundige.
Captain of fifty, and favourite; And counsellor and skilled artificer, And master of magical formulas;
4 Und ich will ihnen Knaben zu Beamten geben und Mutwillige sollen über sie herrschen.
And I will appoint boys to be their princes, —And, petulant children, shall rule over them,
5 Und die Leute sollen sich mißhandeln, einer den andern, der Freund den Freund: der Knabe wird gegen den Greis, und der Geringe gegen den Vornehmen auffahren.
And the people will, tyrannise, Every man over his fellow-man, And every man over his friend, —And they will rage The boy against, the elder, And the despised, against, the honourable,
6 Wenn einer seinen Bruder im väterlichen Hause packt: Du hast noch ein Obergewand, sei unser Gebieter, und dieser Trümmerhaufe sei dir untergeben!
When a man shall lay hold, on his brother of the house of his father, [saying] —Clothing, hast thou, Become thou our, ruler, This downfall, be under thy hand,
7 so wird er jenes Tages antworten: Ich mag nicht Wundarzt sein; ist doch in meinem Hause weder Brot noch Obergewand, - ihr könnt mich nicht zum Gebieter des Volkes machen!
He will swear, in that day, saying—I will take no control, When in mine own house, is neither food nor clothing, —Ye must not set me for a ruler of people!
8 Denn Jerusalem wird in Trümmer gehen und Juda fallen, weil ihre Reden und ihre Thaten gegen Jahwe gerichtet sind, daß sie seinen hehren Augen trotzen.
For stumbled hath Jerusalem, and, Judah, hath fallen, —Because, their tongue and their doings, are against Yahweh, Provoking his glorious presence,
9 Ihre Mienen zeugen gegen sie, und sie machen ihre Sünden kund ohne Hehl, wie die Sodomiter. Wehe ihnen! denn sie fügen sich selbst Böses zu!
The show of their face, hath answered against them, And their sin—like Sodom, have they told, they have not concealed it. Alas for their souls! For they have requited to themselves, calamity.
10 Heil dem Frommen! denn es wird ihm wohl gehen, denn die Früchte seiner Thaten wird er genießen.
Say ye to the righteous It is well! For the fruit of their doings, shall they eat:
11 Wehe dem Gottlosen! Ihm wird's übel ergehen; denn was seine Hände verübt haben, wird ihm widerfahren.
Alas! for the lawless, it is ill, For what his own hand hath matured, shall be done to him.
12 O mein Volk! Seine Zwingherren sind Buben, und Weiber beherrschen es! O mein Volk! Deine Leiter sind Verführer und haben den Weg, den du wandeln sollst, zerstört.
My people! children, are their tyrants, And, women, rule over them, —My people! they who should lead thee forward, are causing thee to stray, Thy pathways, have they destroyed,
13 Jahwe tritt hin, um zu rechten, und steht da, um Völker zu richten!
Yahweh hath taken his station to plead, —And is standing to judge peoples:
14 Jahwe geht ins Gericht mit den Vornehmenund mit den Obersten seines Volks: Ihr aber habt den Weinberg abgeweidet! Das den Elenden geraubte Gut ist in euren Häusern!
Yahweh, into judgment, will enter, With the elders of his people And their princes, —But ye, have consumed the vineyard, That which hath been robbed from the oppressed, is in your houses.
15 Was kommt euch bei, mein Volk zu zerstoßenund die Elenden zu zermalmen? ist der Spruch des Herrn, Jahwes der Heerscharen.
What right have ye to crush my people, And the faces of the oppressed, to grind? Demandeth My Lord Yahweh of hosts—And Yahweh saith—
16 Und Jahwe sprach: Weil die Frauen Zions hoch einherfahren, im Gehen den Hals hochrecken und freche Blicke werfen, immerfort tänzelnd einhergehen und mit den Fußspangen klirren,
Because haughty are the daughters of Zion, And they walk with neck thrown back, and wanton eyes, —Tripping along as they go, And with their feet, making, a tinkling sound,
17 so wird der Herr den Scheitel der Frauen Zions grindig machen und Jahwe ihre Scham entblösen.
Therefore will My Lord, smite with leprosy the crown of hair of the daughters of Zion, —And, as for Yahweh, their shame, will he lay bare!
18 An jenem Tage wird Jahwe abreißen die prächtigen Fußspangen und die Stirnbänder und die Halbmonde,
In that day, will My Lord remove the finery—of the anklets, and the little suns and the little moons;
19 die Ohrtropfen und die Armketten und die Kopfschleier,
the pendants and the bracelets and the veils;
20 die Kopfbunde und die Schrittkettchen und die Gürtel und die Riechfläschchen und die Amulette,
the chaplets and the armlets and the girdles, and the scent-cases, and the amulets;
21 die Fingerringe und die Nasenringe,
the rings and the nose-jewels;
22 die Feierkleider und die Mäntel und die Überwürfe und die Taschen,
the robes, and the over-tunics, and the cloaks and the purses;
23 die Spiegel und die feinen Linnen und die Turbane und die Schleier.
and the mirrors and the linen wraps, and the tiaras and the cloaks.
24 Und dann - Statt des Balsams giebt's Moder und statt der Schärpe den Strick, statt des kunstvollen Gekräusels die Glatze und statt des Prachtmantel Umgürtung mit härenem Gewand, Brandmal statt der Schöne!
And it shall come to pass—That instead of fragrance, a putrid odour, shall be, And instead of a girdle, an encircling rope, And instead of braided hair, baldness, And instead of a festal robe, a girding of sackcloth, Branding instead of beauty:
25 Deine Mannen sollen durchs Schwert fallen und deine junge Mannschaft im Kampfe.
Thy males, by the sword shall fall, —And, thy mighty men, by the war;
26 Und ihre Thore werden seufzen und trauern, und reinausgeplündert wird sie am Boden sitzen.
And her gates shall mourn and lament, —And forsaken, on the ground, shall she sit.
