Hebraeer 2

1 Deswegen müssen wir uns um so fester klammern an das, was wir gehört haben, um nicht weggespült zu werden.

For this reason we should give heed more abundantly to the things [we have] heard, lest in any way we should slip away.

2 Denn wenn das von Engeln verkündete Wort Bestand hatte, und alle Uebertretung und Ungehorsam die rechtmäßige Vergeltung empfieng: wie sollten wir durchkommen,

For if the word which was spoken by angels was firm, and every transgression and disobedience received just retribution,

3 so wir dieses große Heil verabsäumen? welches seinen Anfang nahm durch die Verkündigung des Herrn, und ist von seinen Hörern für uns bestätigt worden,

how shall we escape if we have been negligent of so great salvation, which, having had its commencement in being spoken [of] by the Lord, has been confirmed to us by those who have heard;

4 begleitet von Gottes Zeugnis in Zeichen und Wundern und mancherlei Kräften und Austeilungen des heiligen Geistes nach seinem Willen.

God bearing, besides, witness with [them] to [it], both by signs and wonders, and various acts of power, and distributions of [the] Holy Spirit, according to his will?

5 Denn nicht Engeln hat er die künftige Welt unterstellt, von welcher wir reden.

For he has not subjected to angels the habitable world which is to come, of which we speak;

6 Sondern es hat einer irgendwo Zeugnis gegeben also: Was ist der Mensch, daß du seiner gedenkest? oder des Menschen Sohn, daß du sein achtest?

but one has testified somewhere, saying, What is man, that thou rememberest him, or son of man that thou visitest him?

7 Du hast ihn ein kurzes neben den Engeln erniedrigt, du hast ihn mit Herrlichkeit und Ehre bekränzt,

Thou hast made him some little inferior to the angels; thou hast crowned him with glory and honour, [and hast set him over the works of thy hands; ]

8 alles hast du ihm unter die Füße gethan. Bei dem alles unter gethan hat er nichts ausgelassen, als nicht unterworfen; in der Gegenwart aber ist, wie wir sehen, ihm noch nicht alles unterworfen.

thou hast subjected all things under his feet. For in subjecting all things to him, he has left nothing unsubject to him. But now we see not yet all things subjected to him,

9 Den aber, der ein kurzes neben den Engeln erniedrigt ist, sehen wir in Jesus um des Todesleidens willen mit Herrlichkeit und Ehre bekränzt, auf daß er durch Gottes Gnade für jedermann den Tod koste.

but we see Jesus, who [was] made some little inferior to angels on account of the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; so that by the grace of God he should taste death for every thing.

10 Denn es ziemte sich für den, um dessentwillen alles ist und durch welchen alles ist, den, der viele Söhne zur Herrlichkeit führte, den Anführer ihres Heiles durch Leiden zu vollenden;

For it became him, for whom [are] all things, and by whom [are] all things, in bringing many sons to glory, to make perfect the leader of their salvation through sufferings.

11 denn der da heiligt und die geheiligt werden, haben ihren Ursprung von Einem, weswegen er sich auch nicht schämt, sie Brüder zu nennen,

For both he that sanctifies and those sanctified [are] all of one; for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren,

12 in dem Worte: Ich will deinen Namen verkünden meinen Brüdern, in mitten der Gemeinde will ich dir lobsingen.

saying, I will declare thy name to my brethren; in [the] midst of [the] assembly will I sing thy praises.

13 Und wiederum: Ich werde mein Vertrauen haben auf ihn. Und wiederum: Siehe, hier bin ich und die Kinder, welche mir Gott gegeben hat.

And again, I will trust in him. And again, Behold, I and the children which God has given me.

14 Da nun die Kinder an Blut und Fleisch Teil haben, bekam auch er ähnlich Teil daran, damit er durch den Tod zu nichte mache den, der die Gewalt des Todes hat, das ist der Teufel,

Since therefore the children partake of blood and flesh, he also, in like manner, took part in the same, that through death he might annul him who has the might of death, that is, the devil;

15 und befreie die, welche durch Todesfurcht im ganzen Leben in Sklaverei gehalten waren.

and might set free all those who through fear of death through the whole of their life were subject to bondage.

16 Engel sind es ja wohl nicht, deren er sich an nimmt, sondern des Samens Abrahams nimmt er sich an.

For he does not indeed take hold of angels [by the hand], but he takes hold of the seed of Abraham.

17 Derhalben mußte er in allem den Brüdern ähnlich werden, damit er barmherzig würde und ein bewährter Hohepriester Gott gegenüber, zur Sühnung der Sünden des Volkes.

Wherefore it behoved him in all things to be made like to [his] brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things relating to God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people;

18 Denn wieferne er selbst gelitten hat durch Versuchung, kann er denen, die versucht werden, helfen.

for, in that himself has suffered, being tempted, he is able to help those that are being tempted.
