1 Mose 24
1 Abraham aber war alt und wohlbetagt, und Jahwe hatte Abraham gesegnet in allem.
And Abraham he was old he had come in days and Yahweh he had blessed Abraham in everything.
2 Da sprach Abraham zu seinem Sklaven, dem Hausältesten, der alles das Seinige zu verwalten hatte: Lege doch deine Hand unter meine Lende!
And he said Abraham to servant his old of household his who was ruling over all that [belonged] to him put please hand your under thigh my.
3 Denn du muß mir schwören bei Jahwe, dem Gott des Himmels und dem Gott der Erde, daß du für meinen Sohn nicht ein Weib freien willst von den Töchtern der Kanaaniter, unter denen ich wohne,
So I may make swear you by Yahweh [the] God of the heavens and [the] God of the earth that not you will take a wife for son my from [the] daughters of the Canaanite[s] whom I [am] dwelling in midst its.
4 sondern daß du in mein Vaterland und zu meiner Verwandtschaft ziehen willst, um für meinen Sohn Isaak ein Weib zu freien.
For to land my and to kindred my you will go and you will take a wife for son my for Isaac.
5 Da antwortete ihm der Sklave: Wenn nun aber das Weib mir nicht folgen will in dieses Land, soll ich dann deinen Sohn wieder in das Land zurückbringen, aus dem du ausgewandert bist?
And he said to him the servant perhaps not she will be willing the woman to go after me to the land this ¿ really will I take back son your to the land where you came out from there.
6 Abraham sprach zu ihm: Hüte dich, meinen Sohn dorthin zurückzubringen!
And he said to him Abraham take heed to yourself lest you should take back son my there towards.
7 Jahwe, der Gott des Himmels, der mich hinweggeführt hat aus dem Hause meines Vaters und aus meinem Heimatlande, der zu mir geredet und mir zugeschworen hat: Deinen Nachkkommen will ich dieses Land verleihen! - der wird seinen Engel vor dir hersenden, daß du meinem Sohn ein Weib von dort freiest.
Yahweh - [the] God of the heavens who he took me from [the] household of father my and from [the] land of kindred my and who he spoke to me and who he swore an oath to me saying to offspring your I will give the land this he he will send angel his before you and you will take a wife for son my from there.
8 Und wenn das Weib nicht willens sein sollte, dir zu folgen, so bist du dieses Eides quitt; keinesfalls aber darfst du meinen Sohn dorthin zurückbringen.
And if not she will be willing the woman to go after you and you will be free from oath my this only son my not you must take back there towards.
9 Da legte der Sklave seine Hand unter die Lende Abrahams, seines Herrn, und schwur ihm, wie er verlangt hatte.
And he put the servant hand his under [the] thigh of Abraham master his and he swore an oath to him on the matter this.
10 Hierauf nahm der Sklave zehn Kamele von den Kamelen seines Herrn, sowie allerlei Kleinodien seines Herrn mit sich, brach auf und zog nach Mesopotamien, nach der Stadt Nahors.
And he took the servant ten camels from [the] camels of master his and he went and every good thing of master his [was] in hand his and he arose and he went to Aram Naharaim to [the] city of Nahor.
11 Da ließ er die Kamele draußen vor der Stadt bei einem Brunnen sich lagern, um die Abendzeit, wo die Weiber herauszukommen pflegen, um Wasser zu schöpfen.
And he made kneel the camels from [the] outside of the city to [the] well of the water to [the] time of evening to [the] time of [the] going out of the [women who] draw water.
12 Und er sprach: Jahwe, Gott meines Herrn Abraham! Laß es mir heute glücken und zeige dich gnädig gegen meinen Herrn Abraham.
And he said - O Yahweh [the] God of master my Abraham make happen please before me this day and do covenant loyalty with master my Abraham.
13 Wenn ich jetzt dastehe bei der Quelle, und die Töchter der Stadtbewohner herauskommen, um Wasser zu schöpfen -
Here! I [am] standing at [the] spring of the water and [the] daughters of [the] people of the city [are] coming out to draw water.
14 wenn dann das Mädchen, zu der ich sagen werde: Neige doch deinen Krug, damit ich trinke, antworten wird: Trinke, und auch deine Kamele will ich tränken! die hast du bestimmt für deinen Diener Isaak, und daran will ich erkennen, daß du dich gegen meinen Herrn gnädig erzeigst.
And it will be the young woman whom I will say to her bend down please jar your so I may drink and she will say drink and also camels your I will give a drink to her you have appointed for servant your for Isaac and by it I will know that you have done covenant loyalty with master my.
15 Noch hatte er nicht ausgeredet, da kam, den Krug auf der Schulter, Rebeka heraus, die Tochter Bethuels, des Sohnes der Milka, des Weibes Nahors, des Bruders Abrahams.
And it was he not yet he had finished to speak and there! Rebekah [was] coming out who she had been born to Bethuel [the] son of Milcah [the] wife of Nahor [the] brother of Abraham and jar her [was] on shoulder her.
16 Das Mädchen aber war überaus schön, eine Jungfrau, mit der noch keiner Umgang gehabt hatte; und sie stieg hinab zur Quelle, füllte ihren Krug und kam wieder herauf.
And the young woman [was] good of appearance exceedingly a virgin and a man not he had known her and she went down the spring towards and she filled jar her and she came up.
17 Da lief ihr der Sklave entgegen und sprach: Laß mich doch ein wenig Wasser aus deinem Kruge trinken!
And he ran the servant to meet her and he said give to drink me please a little of water from jar your.
18 Da sprach sie: Trinke, Herr! und eilend ließ sie den Krug hernieder auf ihre Hand und gab ihm zu trinken.
And she said drink O lord my and she hurried and she put down jar her on hand her and she gave a drink him.
19 Und als sie ihm genug zu trinken gegeben hatte, sprach sie: Auch für deine Kamele will ich schöpfen, bis sie sich satt getrunken haben.
And she finished to give a drink him and she said also for camels your I will draw water until they have finished to drink.
20 Und eilend goß sie ihren Krug aus in die Tränkrinne, lief wieder zur Quelle, um Wasser zu schöpfen, und schöpfte für alle seine Kamele.
And she hurried and she emptied jar her into the watering channel and she ran again to the well to draw water and she drew water for all camels his.
21 Der Mann aber sah ihr voll Erstaunen schweigend zu, begierig, zu erfahren, ob Jahwe Glück zu seiner Reise gegeben habe oder nicht.
And the man [was] gazing to her being silent to know ¿ had he made successful Yahweh journey his or? not.
22 Als nun die Kamele sich satt getrunken hatten, da nahm der Mann einen goldenen Nasenring, einen halben Sekel schwer, und zwei Armbänder für ihre Arme, zehn Sekel Goldes schwer,
And it was just as they had finished the camels to drink and he took the man a ring of gold [was] a beka weight its and two bracelets on hands her [was] ten of gold weight their.
23 und sprach: Wessen Tochter bist du? sage es mir! Ist im Hause deines Vaters Raum für uns zum Übernachten?
And he said daughter of whom? [are] you tell please to me ¿ [is] there [the] house of father your room for us to stay [the] night.
24 Sie sprach zu ihm: Ich bin die Tochter Bethuels, des Sohnes der Milka, den sie dem Nahor geboren hat.
And she said to him [am] [the] daughter of Bethuel I [the] son of Milcah whom she bore to Nahor.
25 Und weiter sagte sie zu ihm: Wir haben Stroh und Futter in Fülle, sowie auch Raum zum Übernachten.
And she said to him both straw as well as fodder much which [is] with us also room to stay [the] night.
26 Da verneigte sich der Mann und beugte sich vor Jahwe
And he bowed low the man and he bowed down to Yahweh.
27 und sprach: Gepriesen sei Jahwe, der Gott meines Herrn Abraham, der es nicht hat fehlen lassen an Huld und Treue gegenüber meinem Herrn. Den Weg hat mich Jahwe geführt zum Hause der Verwandten meines Herrn!
And he said [be] blessed Yahweh [the] God of master my Abraham who not he has left covenant loyalty his and faithfulness his from with master my I on the journey he has led me Yahweh [the] house of [the] relatives of master my.
28 Das Mädchen aber lief und berichtete bei ihrer Mutter, was sich zugetragen hatte.
And she ran the young woman and she told to [the] household of mother her according to the things these.
29 Nun hatte Rebeka einen Bruder, der hieß Laban, da lief Laban zu dem Manne hinaus an die Quelle.
And [belonged] to Rebekah a brother and name his [was] Laban and he ran Laban to the man the outside towards to the spring.
30 Als dieser den Ring und die Spangen an den Armen seiner Schwester erblickte und seine Schwester erzählen hörte: so und so hat der Mann zu mir gesagt, und kam zu dem Manne; der aber stand noch bei den Kamelen an der Quelle.
And it was - when saw the ring and the bracelets on [the] hands of sister his and just as heard he [the] words of Rebekah sister his saying thus he spoke to me the man and he went to the man and there! [he was] standing with the camels at the spring.
31 Da sprach er: Komm herein, du Gesegneter Jahwes! warum stehst du draußen?
And he said come O [one] blessed of Yahweh why? are you standing on the outside and I I have made clear the house and a place for the camels.
32 Als er nun den Mann ins Haus geführt hatte, zäumte er die Kamele ab; alsdann gab er den Kamelen Stroh und Futter und brachte Wasser zum Waschen der Füße für ihn und die Männer, die bei ihm waren.
And he went the man the house towards and he unharnessed the camels and he gave straw and fodder to the camels and water to wash feet his and [the] feet of the men who [were] with him.
33 Als ihm aber zu essen vorgesetzt wurde, da sprach er: Ich esse nicht eher, als bis ich meine Sache vorgebracht habe! Er antwortete: So rede!
(And it was put *QK) before him to eat and he said not I will eat until I have spoken words my and he said speak.
34 Da sprach er: Ich bin der Sklave Abrahams.
And he said [am] [the] servant of Abraham I.
35 Jahwe hat meinen Herrn reichlich gesegnet, so daß er zu großem Wohlstand gelangt ist, und hat ihm Schafe und Rinder, Silber und Gold, Sklaven und Sklavinnen und Kamele und Esel geschenkt.
And Yahweh he has blessed master my exceedingly and he has become great and he has given to him sheep and cattle and silver and gold and [male] servants and female servants and camels and donkeys.
36 Und Sara, das Weib meines Herrn, gebar meinem Herrn einen Sohn, als sie schon hochbetagt war; dem hat er alle seine Habe übergeben.
And she has borne Sarah [the] wife of master my a son to master my after old age her and he has given to him all that [belongs] to him.
37 Mein Herr aber gebot mir und ließ mich darauf schwören: Du darfst meinem Sohne kein Weib freien aus den Töchtern der Kanaaniter, in deren Land ich wohne,
And he made swear an oath me master my saying not you must take a wife for son my from [the] daughters of the Canaanite[s] whom I [am] dwelling in land its.
38 sondern sollst hinziehen zu meines Vaters Haus und zu meiner Verwandtschaft um meinem Sohn ein Weib zu freien.
If not to [the] house of father my you will go and to family my and you will take a wife for son my.
39 Da sprach ich zu meinem Herrn: Wenn nun aber das Weib mir nicht folgen will?
And I said to master my perhaps not she will go the woman after me.
40 Da sprach er zu mir: Jahwe, vor dessen Angesicht ich gewandelt habe, wird seinen Engel mit dir senden und dir Glück zu deiner Reise geben, daß du meinem Sohn ein Weib freiest von meiner Verwandtschaft, aus dem Hause meines Vaters.
And he said to me Yahweh whom I have walked about before him he will send angel his with you and he will make successful journey your and you will take a wife for son my from family my and from [the] household of father my.
41 Dann sollst du meines Eides quitt sein, wenn du dich zu meiner Verwandtschaft begeben wirst; geben sie dir sie nicht, so bist du meines Eides quitt.
Then you will be free from oath my for you will go to family my and if not they will give [her] to you and you will be free from oath my.
42 Als ich nun heute zu der Quelle kam, da sprach ich: Jahwe, du Gott meines Herrn Abraham! Wenn du Glück geben willst zu dem Weg, auf dem ich mich befinde, so soll - wenn ich jetzt dastehe bei der Quelle -
And I came this day to the spring and I said O Yahweh [the] God of master my Abraham if [are] there you please [are] making successful journey my which I [am] going on it.
43 das Mädchen, das herauskommt, um Wasser zu schöpfen, und zu dem ich sagen werde: Gieb mir doch ein wenig Wasser zu trinken aus deinem Kruge!
Here! I [am] standing at [the] spring of the water and it will be the young woman who will come out to draw water and I will say to her give to drink me please a little of water from jar your.
44 und das dann antwortet: Trinke und auch deine Kamele will ich tränken - die soll das Weib sein, welches Jahwe dem Sohne meines Herrn bestimmt hat.
And she will say to me both you drink and also for camels your I will draw water she [be] the woman whom he has appointed Yahweh for [the] son of master my.
45 Kaum hatte ich so bei mir beschlossen, da kam Rebeka heraus, den Krug auf der Schulter, stieg zur Quelle hinab und schöpfte Wasser. Da sprach ich zu ihr: Gieb mir zu trinken!
I not yet I had finished to speak to heart my and there! Rebekah [was] coming out and jar her [was] on shoulder her and she went down the spring towards and she drew water and I said to her give a drink me please.
46 Sie aber ließ rasch ihren Krug herab und sprach: Trinke! und auch deine Kamele will ich tränken. Da trank ich und sie tränkte dann auch die Kamele.
And she hurried and she put down jar her from on her and she said drink and also camels your I will give a drink to and I drank and also the camels she gave a drink.
47 Hierauf fragte ich sie und sprach: Wessen Tochter bist du? Sie antwortete: Ich bin die Tochter Bethuels, des Sohnes Nahors, den ihm Milka geboren hat. Da legte ich den Ring an ihre Nase und die Spangen an ihre Arme.
And I asked her and I said daughter of whom? [are] you and she said [the] daughter of Bethuel [the] son of Nahor whom she bore to him Milcah and I put the ring on nose her and the bracelets on hands her.
48 Dann verneigte ich mich und beugte mich vor Jahwe und pries Jahwe, den Gott meines Herrn Abraham, dafür, daß er mich den rechten Weg geführt hat, die Tochter des Bruders meines Herrn für seinen Sohn zu freien.
And I bowed low and I bowed down to Yahweh and I blessed Yahweh [the] God of master my Abraham who he had led me in [the] way of truth to take [the] daughter of [the] brother of master my for son his.
49 Wenn ihr nun also meinem Herrn Liebe und Treue erweisen wollt, so sagt es mir; wenn aber nicht, so sagt es mir auch, damit ich mich wende zur Rechten oder zur Linken.
And now if [are] there you doing loyalty and faithfulness with master my tell to me and if not tell to me so I may turn to right or to left.
50 Da antworteten Laban und Bethuel und sprachen: Das kommt von Jahwe! Wir können nichts dazu sagen, weder Schlimmes noch Gutes.
And he answered Laban and Bethuel and they said from Yahweh it has come out the matter not we are able to speak to you evil or good.
51 Rebeka steht dir zur Verfügung; nimm sie und ziehe hin, damit sie das Weib des Sohnes deines Herrn werde, wie Jahwe geredet hat!
Here! Rebekah [is] before you take [her] and go so may she be a wife for [the] son of master your just as he has spoken Yahweh.
52 Als nun der Sklave Abrahams diese ihre Worte hörte, verneigte er sich vor Jahwe bis auf die Erde.
And it was just as he heard [the] servant of Abraham words their and he bowed down [the] ground towards to Yahweh.
53 Dann zog der Sklave Gold- und Silbersachen und Gewänder hervor und schenkte sie Rebeka; ihrem Bruder aber und ihrer Mutter schenkte er Kleinodien.
And he brought out the servant articles of silver and articles of gold and garments and he gave [them] to Rebekah and precious gifts he gave to brother her and to mother her.
54 Und sie aßen und tranken, er und die Männer, die mit ihm waren, und blieben über Nacht. Am andern Morgen aber, als sie aufgestanden waren, da sprach er: Laßt mich ziehen zu meinen Herrn!
And they ate and they drank he and the men who [were] with him and they stayed [the] night and they arose in the morning and he said send away me to master my.
55 Da sprachen ihr Bruder und ihre Mutter: Laß doch das Mädchen noch einige Tage oder zehn bei uns bleiben, dann mag sie ziehen!
And he said brother her and mother her let her remain the young woman with us days or ten (after *LS) she will go.
56 Er aber sprach zu ihnen: Haltet mich nicht auf! Jahwe hat Glück gegeben zu meiner Reise, so entlaßt mich nun, damit ich zu meinem Herrn ziehe.
And he said to them may not you delay me and Yahweh he has made successful journey my send away me so let me go to master my.
57 Da sprachen sie: Wir wollen das Mädchen rufen und sie selbst befragen!
And they said let us summon the young woman and let us ask mouth her.
58 Hierauf riefen sie Rebeka und sprachen zu ihr: Willst du mit diesem Manne ziehen? Sie antwortete: Ja, ich will!
And they summoned Rebekah and they said to her ¿ will you go with the man this and she said I will go.
59 Da ließen sie ihre Schwester Rebeka ziehen mit ihrer Amme und dem Sklaven Abrahams samt seinen Leuten.
And they sent away Rebekah sister their and nurse her and [the] servant of Abraham and men his.
60 Und sie segneten Rebeka und sprachen zu ihr: O Schwester! Werde du zu unzähligen Tausenden, und mögen deine Nachkommen die Thore ihrer Feinde in Besitz nehmen!
And they blessed Rebekah and they said to her O sister our you become thousands of ten thousand so may it take possession of offspring your [the] gate of [those who] hate it.
61 Hierauf brachen Rebeka und ihre Dienerinnen auf und setzten sich auf die Kamele und folgten dem Manne; und der Sklave nahm Rebeka und zog von dannen.
And she arose Rebekah and maids her and they rode on the camels and they went after the man and he took the servant Rebekah and he went.
62 Isaak aber war vom “Brunnen des Lebendigen, der mich schaut” gekommen; denn er wohnte im Südland.
And Isaac he came from going Beer Lahai Roi and he [was] dwelling in [the] land of the Negev.
63 Einst war Isaak ausgegangen, um auf dem Felde zu beten, als der Abend anbrach. Als er nun aufblickte, sah er Kamele daherkommen.
And he went out Isaac to meditate in the field to [the] turning of evening and he lifted up eyes his and he saw and there! camels [were] coming.
64 Als aber Rebeka aufschaute, erblickte sie den Isaak. Da sprang sie herab vom Kamel
And she lifted up Rebekah eyes her and she saw Isaac and she fell from on the camel.
65 und sprach zu dem Sklaven: Wer ist der Mann, der uns da auf dem Feld entgegenkommt? Der Sklave antwortete: Es ist mein Herr! Da nahm sie den Schleier und verhüllte sich.
And she said to the servant who? [is] the man this who is walking in the field to meet us and he said the servant it [is] master my and she took the veil and she covered herself.
66 Hierauf erzählte der Sklave dem Isaak alles, was er verrichtet hatte.
And he recounted the servant to Isaac all the things which he had done.
67 Isaak aber führte sie hinein ins Zelt seiner Mutter Sara und er nahm Rebeka und sie wurde sein Weib und er gewann sie lieb; so tröstete sich Isaak über den Verlust seiner Mutter.
And he brought her Isaac the tent of towards Sarah mother his and he took Rebekah and she became of him a wife and he loved her and he was comforted Isaac after mother his.
