2 Mose 9
1 Hierauf befahl Jahwe Mose: Begieb dich zum Pharao und kündige ihm an: So spricht Jahwe, der Gott der Hebräer: Laß mein Volk ziehen, damit es mich verehre!
Then said Yahweh unto Moses, Go in unto Pharaoh, —then shalt thou say unto him—Thus, saith Yahweh, God of the Hebrews, Let my people go, that they may serve me.
2 Denn wenn du dich weigerst, sie ziehen zu lassen, und sie noch ferner zurückhältst,
But, if, refusing, thou art to let them go, —and still art holding them fast,
3 so wird Jahwes Hand über dein Vieh auf dem Felde, die Pferde, Esel, Kamele, Rinder und Schafe kommen in Gestalt einer sehr schweren Pest.
lo! the hand of Yahweh, is coming on thy cattle which are in the field, on the horses, on the asses on the camels, on the herds and on the flocks, —a very grievous pestilence;
4 Jahwe aber wird zwischen dem Vieh der Israeliten und dem der Ägypter einen Unterschied machen: von allem, das den Israeliten gehört, soll kein Stück fallen.
and Yahweh will make a difference between the cattle of Israel and the cattle of the Egyptians, —so that there shall not die from among all that pertaineth to the sons of Israel, a thing!
5 Hierauf bestimmte Jahwe eine Frist, indem er sprach: Morgen wird Jahwe dies über das Land bringen.
And Yahweh appointed a set time—saying, To-morrow, will Yahweh do this thing, in the land.
6 Am folgenden Tage ließ Jahwe dies eintreten. Da fiel alles Vieh der Ägypter; aber von dem Vieh der Israeliten fiel nicht ein einziges Stück.
So Yahweh did this thing, on the morrow, and all the cattle of the Egyptians died, —but of the cattle of the sons of Israel, died not one.
7 Der Pharao aber sandte Boten aus; da ergab sich, daß von dem Vieh der Israeliten auch nicht ein Stück gefallen war. Hierauf wurde der Sinn des Pharao wieder verstockt, und er ließ das Volk nicht ziehen.
And Pharaoh sent, and lo! there had not died of the cattle of Israel, so much as one. But Pharaoh’s heart became dull, and he did not let the people go.
8 Hierauf befahl Jahwe Mose und Aaron: Nehmt euch beide Hände voll Ofenruß, und Mose soll ihn vor den Augen des Pharao emporstreuen;
Then said Yahweh unto Moses and unto Aaron, Take you your hands full of the ashes of an oven, —and Moses shall scatter them towards the heavens, before the eyes of Pharaoh:
9 so soll er dann als eine feine Staubwolke auf ganz Ägypten fallen und sowohl an den Menschen als an den Tieren in ganz Ägypten zu Geschwüren werden, die in Blattern ausbrechen.
then shall they become fine dust, over all the land of Egypt, —and shall become on man and on beast, a burning sore, breaking out in pustules in all the land of Egypt.
10 Da nahmen sie den Ofenruß und traten vor den Pharao; dort streute ihn Mose empor, und es entstanden aufbrechende Geschwüre mit Pusteln, an den Menschen sowohl, wie an den Tieren.
So they took the ashes of an oven and stood before Pharaoh, and Moses scattered them towards the heavens, —and it came to pass that there was a burning sore in pustules breaking out, among men, and among beasts;
11 Die Zauberer aber waren nicht imstande, Mose die Spitze zu bieten, infolge der Geschwüre; denn die Geschwüre brachen an den Zauberern aus, wie an allen Ägyptern.
and the sacred scribes could not stand before Moses, because of the burning sore, —for the burning sore had come on the sacred scribes, and on all the Egyptians.
12 Jahwe aber machte den Sinn des Pharao verstockt, und er willfahrte ihnen nicht, wie Jahwe Mose vorausgesagt hatte.
But Yahweh let the heart of Pharaoh wax bold, and he hearkened not unto them, —as spake Yahweh unto Moses.
13 Hierauf befahl Jahwe Mose: Tritt morgen früh vor den Pharao und kündige ihm an: So spricht Jahwe, der Gott der Hebräer: Laß mein Volk ziehen, damit es mich verehre!
Then said Yahweh unto Moses, Rise thou early in the morning, and station thyself before Pharaoh, —then shalt thou say unto him—Thus, saith Yahweh, God of the Hebrews, Let my people go that they may serve me;
14 Denn diesmal will ich alle meine Plagen dich selbst, deine Höflinge und Unterthanen fühlen lassen, damit du erkennest, daß es keinen giebt, wie ich, auf der ganzen Erde!
for this time, am I, sending all my plagues unto thy heart, and amongst thy servants and amongst thy people, —to the intent thou mayest get to know, that there is none like me in all the earth.
15 Eben hätte ich meine Hand ausrecken und dich und deine Unterthanen mit der Pest zu Grunde richten können, so daß du weggefegt worden wärest vom Erdboden.
For now, might I have put forth my hand, and smitten thee and thy people with pestilence, —and thou shouldst have secretly disappeared from the earth;
16 Aber ich habe dich nur deswegen verschont, damit ich dir meine Macht zu fühlen gebe, und mein Name auf der ganzen Erde gepriesen werde.
but, in very deed for this purpose, have I let thee remain, for the purpose of showing thee my might, —and that my name may be celebrated in all the earth.
17 Noch stemmst du dich dagegen, mein Volk ziehen zu lassen.
Even yet, art thou exalting thyself over my people—in not letting them go?
18 Ich werde aber morgen um diese Zeit einen sehr schweren Hagelschlag herniederfallen lassen, dessengleichen in Ägypten nicht dagewesen ist, seitdem es erschaffen wurde, bis jetzt.
Behold me! raining down, about this time to-morrow, an exceeding heavy hail, —such as hath not been in Egypt, from the day it was founded, even unto the present time.
19 Schicke daher hin und laß dein Vieh und alles, was du draußen im Freien hast, in Sicherheit bringen; denn alle Menschen und Tiere, die sich im Freien befinden und nicht in ihre Behausungen zurückziehen werden, die wird der Hagel tot schlagen.
Now, therefore, send—bring into safety thy cattle, and all that thou hast in the field, —as touching all men and beasts which shall be found in the field and shall not be withdrawn into shelter, the hail shall come down upon them and they shall die.
20 Wer sich nun von den Höflingen des Pharao vor der Drohung Jahwes fürchtete, der ließ seine Sklaven und sein Vieh in die Wohnungen flüchten.
He that feared the word of Yahweh, among the servants of Pharaoh, made his servants and his cattle flee, under shelter:
21 Wer aber die Drohung Jahwes unbeachtet ließ, der ließ seine Sklaven und sein Vieh im Freien.
but, whoso applied not his heart unto the word of Yahweh, left his servants and his cattle in the field.
22 Da befahl Jahwe Mose: Recke deine Hand gen Himmel empor; so soll Hagel fallen auf ganz Ägypten, sowohl auf die Menschen, als auf die Tiere und auf alle Feldgewächse in Ägypten.
Then said Yahweh unto Moses—Stretch forth thy hand over the heavens, that there may be hail in all the land of Egypt, —on man and on beast, and on every herb of the field in the land of Egypt.
23 Da reckte Mose seinen Stab gen Himmel empor, und Jahwe ließ Donner und Hagel entstehen und Feuer fuhr hernieder; und Jahwe ließ Hagel fallen auf Ägypten.
So Moses stretched forth his staff over the heavens, and, Yahweh, gave forth thunderings and hail, and there came fire towards the earth, —and Yahweh rained down hail, on the land of Egypt.
24 Und es fiel ein sehr starker Hagel und unaufhörliches Feuer unter dem Hagel, wie seinesgleichen nie gefallen war in Ägypten, seitdem es von Menschen bewohnt war.
So there came to be hail, and fire catching hold of itself, in the midst of the hail, —exceeding heavy, such as had not been in all the land of Egypt, from the very time it became a nation.
25 Und der Hagel erschlug in ganz Ägypten alles, was im Freien war, sowohl Menschen als Tier, und alle Feldgewächse zerschlug der Hagel und alle Bäume auf dem Felde knickte er.
And the hail smote in all the land of Egypt all that was in the field, both man and beast, —and every herb of the field, did the hail smite, and every tree of the field, did it shiver.
26 Bloß in der Provinz Gosen, woselbst die Israeliten wohnten, fiel kein Hagel.
Only in the land of Goshen, where were the sons of Israel, was there no hail.
27 Da sandte der Pharao Boten, ließ Mose und Aaron rufen und sprach zu ihnen: Ich habe diesmal gefehlt; Jahwe ist im Recht und ich und meine Unterthanen sind im Unrecht.
Then sent Pharaoh, and called for Moses and for Aaron, and said unto them—I have sinned this time, —Yahweh, is the righteous one, and, I and my people, are the wrong-doers.
28 Legt bei Jahwe Fürbitte ein - es ist mehr als genug an den Donnerschlägen und dem Hagel -, so will ich euch ziehen lassen und ihr sollt nicht länger hier verweilen.
Make ye request unto Yahweh, and it shall be enough without there being any more thunderings of God, and hail, —and I must a let you go, and not again shall ye delay.
29 Mose antwortete ihm: Wenn ich zur Stadt hinausgehe, will ich meine Hände zu Jahwe ausbreiten; so sollen die Donnerschläge aufhören und der Hagel nicht mehr fallen, damit du erkennst, daß Jahwe die Erde gehört.
And Moses said unto him, As soon as I am gone out of the city, will I spread out my hands unto Yahweh, —the thunderings, shall cease, and, the hail, shall come no more, —that thou mayest know, that to Yahweh, belongeth the earth.
30 Aber du und deine Höflinge, ich weiß es, fürchtet euch noch nicht vor dem Gott Jahwe.
But as touching thee and thy servants, I know that not yet will ye stand in awe of Yahweh Elohim.
31 Der Flachs aber und die Gerste wurden vernichtet; denn die Gerste stand in Ähren und der Flachs hatte Knospen.
Now, the flax and the barley, were smitten, —for the barley, was in the ear, and, the flax, was in flower;
32 Der Weizen jedoch und der Spelt wurden nicht vernichtet; denn sie kommen später.
but the wheat and the spelt, were not smitten, —for they were, not ripe.
33 Hierauf verließ Mose den Pharao und ging zur Stadt hinaus; da breitete er seine Hände zu Jahwe aus, und alsbald hörten die Donnerschläge und der Hagel auf, und es strömte kein Regen mehr hernieder.
So Moses went away from Pharaoh out of the city, and spread out his hands unto Yahweh, —then did the thunderings and the hail cease, and, rain, was not poured out on the earth.
34 Als jedoch der Pharao merkte, daß der Regen, der Hagel und die Donnerschläge aufgehört hatten, verging er sich weiter und wurde verstockt, er und seine Höflinge.
And when Pharaoh saw that the rain and the hail and the thunderings had ceased, he again sinned, —and made his heart dull, he, and his servants.
35 Aber der Sinn des Pharao blieb verhärtet, und er ließ die Israeliten nicht ziehen, wie Jahwe durch Mose vorausgesagt hatte.
And the heart of Pharaoh waxed bold, and he did not let the sons of Israel go, —as spake Yahweh by the hand of Moses.
