5 Mose 21
1 Wenn in dem Lande, das dir Jahwe, dein Gott, zum Besitztume verleiht, ein Erschlagener auf dem Felde liegen gefunden wird, ohne daß man weiß, wer ihn erschlagen hat,
'When one is found slain on the ground which Jehovah thy God is giving to thee to possess it — fallen in a field — it is not known who hath smitten him,
2 so sollen deine Vornehmsten und Richter hinausgehen und die Entfernung bis zu den Städten abmessen, die sich rings um den Erschlagenen befinden.
then have thine elders and thy judges gone out and measured unto the cities which [are] round about the slain one,
3 Ist dann die dem Erschlagenen zunächst liegende Stadt ermittelt, so sollen die Vornehmsten jener Stadt eine junge Kuh nehmen, mit der noch nicht gearbeitet worden ist, die noch nicht an einem Joche gezogen hat.
and it hath been, the city which [is] near unto the slain one, even the elders of that city have taken a heifer of the herd, which hath not been wrought with, which hath not drawn in the yoke,
4 Dann sollen die Vornehmsten jener Stadt die junge Kuh in ein Thal mit nie versiegendem Wasser hinabführen, wo nicht geackert und nicht gesät wird, und sollen dort im Thale der jungen Kuh das Genick brechen.
and the elders of that city have brought down the heifer unto a hard valley, which is not tilled nor sown, and have beheaded there the heifer in the valley.
5 Darauf sollen die Priester, die Söhne Levis, herzutreten, - denn sie hat Jahwe, dein Gott, erwählt, daß sie ihm dienen und im Namen Jahwes segnen sollen, und nach ihrem Ausspruche wird über jeden Streit und jede Verletzung entschieden, -
'And the priests, sons of Levi, have come nigh — for on them hath Jehovah thy God fixed to serve Him, and to bless in the name of Jehovah, and by their mouth is every strife, and every stroke —
6 und alle Vornehmsten jener Stadt, als die, welche dem Erschlagenen am nächsten wohnen, sollen über der jungen Kuh, der im Thale das Genick gebrochen wurde, ihre Hände waschen
and all the elders of that city, who are near unto the slain one, do wash their hands over the heifer which is beheaded in the valley,
7 und sollen anheben und sprechen: Unsere Hände haben dieses Blut nicht vergossen, und unsere Augen haben die Unthat nicht gesehen.
and they have answered and said, Our hands have not shed this blood, and our eyes have not seen —
8 Vergieb, o Jahwe, deinem Volke Israel, das du erlöst hast, und lege deinem Volke Israel nicht die Verantwortung für unschuldig vergossenes Blut auf! So werden sie von der Blutschuld frei werden,
receive atonement for Thy people Israel, whom Thou hast ransomed, O Jehovah, and suffer not innocent blood in the midst of Thy people Israel; and the blood hath been pardoned to them,
9 und du sollst das unschuldig vergossene Blut aus deiner Mitte hinwegtilgen, damit es dir wohl gehe, wenn du thust, was vor Jahwe recht ist.
and thou dost put away the innocent blood out of thy midst, for thou dost that which [is] right in the eyes of Jehovah.
10 Wenn du gegen deine Feinde in den Krieg ziehst, und Jahwe, dein Gott, sie in deine Gewalt giebt, und du Gefangene unter ihnen machst
'When thou goest out to battle against thine enemies, and Jehovah thy God hath given them into thy hand, and thou hast taken captive its captivity,
11 und unter den Gefangenen ein Weib von schöner Gestalt erblickst und von Liebe zu ihr ergriffen wirst, daß du sie dir zum Weibe nehmen willst,
and hast seen in the captivity a woman of fair form, and hast delighted in her, and hast taken to thee for a wife,
12 so bringe sie hinein in dein Haus, daß sie ihr Haupt beschere, ihre Nägel beschneide
then thou hast brought her in unto the midst of thy household, and she hath shaved her head, and prepared her nails,
13 und ihre Gefangenenkleidung ablege. So soll sie in deinem Hause wohnen und ihren Vater und ihre Mutter einen Monat lang betrauern; und darnach darfst du zu ihr eingehen und sie ehelichen, daß sie dein Weib sei.
and turned aside the raiment of her captivity from off her, and hath dwelt in thy house, and bewailed her father and her mother a month of days, and afterwards thou dost go in unto her and hast married her, and she hath been to thee for a wife:
14 Wenn sie dir aber nicht mehr gefällt, so hast du sie ganz frei zu geben und darfst sie keinesfalls um Geld verkaufen. Du darfst dich nicht gewaltthätig gegen sie erzeigen, weil du sie geschwächt hast.
'And it hath been — if thou hast not delighted in her, that thou hast sent her away at her desire, and thou dost not at all sell her for money; thou dost not tyrannize over her, because that thou hast humbled her.
15 Wenn ein Mann zwei Frauen hat, von denen er die eine bevorzugt, die andere aber zurücksetzt, und beide ihm Söhne gebären, die bevorzugte wie die zurückgesetzte, und der erstgeborne Sohn von der zurückgesetzten stammt,
'When a man hath two wives, the one loved and the other hated, and they have borne to him sons (the loved one and the hated one), and the first-born son hath been to the hated one;
16 so darf er, wenn er seinen Söhnen sein Vermögen als Erbe übergiebt, nicht mit Hintansetzung des Sohns der zurückgesetzten, der der Erstgeborne ist, dem Sohne der bevorzugten die Rechte des Erstgebornen verleihen,
then it hath been, in the day of his causing his sons to inherit that which he hath, he is not able to declare first-born the son of the loved one, in the face of the son of the hated one — the first-born.
17 sondern er hat den wirklichen Erstgebornen, den Sohn der zurückgesetzten, als solchen anzuerkennen, indem er ihm von allem, was er besitzt, doppelten Anteil gewährt; denn dieser ist der Erstling deiner Kraft, ihm gehört das Erstgeburtsrecht.
But the first-born, son of the hated one, he doth acknowledge, to give to him a double portion of all that is found with him, for he [is] the beginning of his strength; to him [is] the right of the first-born.
18 Hat jemand einen mißratenen und widerspenstigen Sohn, der auf die Mahnung seines Vaters und seiner Mutter nicht hören will und ihnen auch, nachdem sie ihn gezüchtigt haben, nicht gehorcht,
'When a man hath a son apostatizing and rebellious — he is not hearkening to the voice of his father, and to the voice of his mother, and they have chastised him, and he doth not hearken unto them —
19 so sollen ihn seine Eltern ergreifen, ihn vor die Vornehmsten seiner Stadt und zwar zum Thore seine Wohnorts hinausführen
then laid hold on him have his father and his mother, and they have brought him out unto the elders of his city, and unto the gate of his place,
20 und zu den Vornehmsten seiner Stadt sprechen: Dieser unser Sohn da ist mißraten und widerspenstig, will auf unsere Mahnung nicht hören, ist ein Verschwender und Trunkenbold!
and have said unto the elders of his city, Our son — this one — is apostatizing and rebellious; he is not hearkening to our voice — a glutton and drunkard;
21 So sollen ihn dann alle Leute aus seiner Stadt zu Tode steinigen, und so sollst du das Böse aus deiner Mitte hinwegtilgen, und ganz Israel soll es vernehmen und sich fürchten.
and all the men of his city have stoned him with stones, and he hath died, and thou hast put away the evil out of thy midst, and all Israel do hear and fear.
22 Wenn einer, der ein todeswürdiges Verbrechen begangen hat, mit dem Tode bestraft wird, und man ihn an einen Baum aufgehängt hat,
'And when there is in a man a sin — a cause of death, and he hath been put to death, and thou hast hanged him on a tree,
23 so soll sein Leichnam nicht über Nacht an dem Baume hängen bleiben, sondern du hast ihn noch am gleichen Tage zu begraben; denn ein Gehängter ist bei Gott verflucht, und du sollst dein Land nicht verunreinigen, das dir Jahwe, dein Gott, zum Eigentume verleiht.
his corpse doth not remain on the tree, for thou dost certainly bury him in that day — for a thing lightly esteemed of God [is] the hanged one — and thou dost not defile thy ground which Jehovah thy God is giving to thee — an inheritance.
