2 Korinther 2

1 Ich habe nämlich bei mir selbst gedacht, ich wollte nicht abermals mit Betrübnis zu euch kommen.

But I determined this with myself, that I would not come again to you in heaviness.

2 Denn wenn ich euch betrübe, wer soll mich noch erfreuen? wenn nicht eben der, der von mir betrübt wird?

For if I make you sorry, who is he then that makes me glad, but the same which is made sorry by me?

3 So habe ich diese Angelegenheit brieflich bei euch abgemacht, damit ich nicht, wenn ich käme, Betrübnis habe von denen, an welchen ich Freude haben sollte; darf ich mich doch zu euch allen versehen, daß meine Freude euer aller Sache ist.

And I wrote this same unto you, lest, when I came, I should have sorrow from them of whom I ought to rejoice; having confidence in you all, that my joy is the joy of you all.

4 Aus vieler Drangsal und Herzensbeklemmung heraus habe ich euch also geschrieben, unter vielen Thränen: nicht damit ihr betrübt werdet, sondern damit ihr die Liebe, die ich ganz besonders zu euch habe, erkennet.

For out of much affliction and anguish of heart I wrote unto you with many tears; not that all of you should be grieved, but that all of you might know the love (agape) which I have more abundantly unto you.

5 Hat aber ein Gewisser Betrübnis geschaffen, so hat er nicht mich betrübt, sondern eure Gesamtheit; wenigstens, damit ich nicht zu viel thue, einen Teil davon.

But if any have caused grief, he has not grieved me, but in part: that I may not burden you all.

6 Für einen solchen ist es genug an der Zurechtweisung von der Mehrheit:

Sufficient to such a man is this punishment, which was inflicted of many.

7 so möget ihr nun umgekehrt ihm verzeihen, und ihn mit Zuspruch vor Verzweiflung bewahren.

So that contrariwise all of you ought rather to forgive him, and comfort him, lest perhaps such a one should be swallowed up with overmuch sorrow.

8 Darum ersuche ich euch, die Liebe gegen ihn walten zu lassen.

Wherefore I plead to you that all of you would confirm your love (agape) toward him.

9 Habe ich doch, eben mit dem was ich schrieb, euch prüfen wollen, ob ihr willig zu allem seid.

In order to this end also did I write, that I might know the proof of you, whether all of you be obedient in all things.

10 Wem ihr aber verzeiht, dem verzeihe ich auch; ebenso was ich meinerseits verziehen habe, wo ich es gethan, das habe ich um euretwillen im Angesichte Christus' gethan,

To whom all of you forgive any thing, I forgive also: for if I forgave any thing, to whom I forgave it, for your sakes forgave I it in the person of Christ;

11 damit wir nicht vom Satan überlistet werden; kennen wir doch seine Anschläge nur zu wohl.

Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

12 Wie ich aber nach Troas kam zur Verkündigung des Evangeliums Christus', so that sich mir wohl eine Thüre auf im Herrn;

Furthermore, when I came to Troas to preach Christ's gospel, and a door was opened unto me of the Lord,

13 aber ich war doch nicht frei im Geiste, weil ich meinen Bruder Titus nicht traf; so nahm ich Abschied von ihnen und zog nach Makedonia.

I had no rest in my spirit, (pneuma) because I found not Titus my brother: but taking my leave of them, I went from thence into Macedonia.

14 Dank aber sei Gott, der uns allezeit zum Sieg führt in Christus, und den Wohlgeruch seiner Erkenntnis durch uns offenbart aller Orten.

Now thanks be unto God, which always causes us to triumph in Christ, and makes manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place.

15 Denn wir sind für Gott ein Wohlgeruch Christus' bei den Geretteten und den Verlorenen.

For we are unto God a sweet savour of Christ, in them that are saved, and in them that perish:

16 Den einen ein Geruch von Tod zu Tod, den anderen ein Geruch von Leben zu Leben. Und wie wird man dazu geschickt?

To the one we are the savour of death unto death; and to the other the savour of life unto life. And who is sufficient for these things?

17 Nun, wir treiben es nicht, wie so viele die aus dem Worte Gottes ein Gewerbe machen, sondern aus lauterem Triebe von Gott aus reden wir vor Gott in Christus.

For we are not as many, which corrupt the word (logos) of God: but as of sincerity, but as of God, in the sight of God speak we in Christ.
