2 Chronik 24

1 Sieben Jahre war Jehoas alt, als er König ward, und vierzig Jahre regierte er zu Jerusalem; seine Mutter aber hieß Zibja und stammte aus Beerseba.

[was] a son of Seven years Joash when became king he and forty year[s] he reigned in Jerusalem and [the] name of mother his [was] Zibiah from Beer Sheba.

2 Und Jehoas that, was Jahwe wohlgefiel, so lange der Priester Jojada lebte.

And he did Joash the right in [the] eyes of Yahweh all [the] days of Jehoiada the priest.

3 Jojada verheiratete ihn mit zwei Frauen, und er erzeugte Söhne und Töchter.

And he took for him Jehoiada wives two and he fathered sons and daughters.

4 Nachmals aber beschloß Jehoas, den Tempel Jahwes wiederherzustellen.

And it was after this it was with [the] heart of Joash to renew [the] house of Yahweh.

5 Da versammelte er die Priester und die Leviten und gebot ihnen: Geht hinaus in die Städte Judas und sammelt von ganz Israel Geld ein, um Jahr für Jahr den Tempel eures Gottes auszubessern, und zwar müßt ihr die Sache eilig betreiben! Aber die Leviten beeilten sich nicht.

And he assembled the priests and the Levites and he said to them go out to [the] cities of Judah and collect from all Israel money to repair - [the] house of God your as often as a year in a year and you you will do quickly the matter and not they acted quickly the Levites.

6 Da berief der König Jojada, das Oberhaupt der Priester, und sprach zu ihm: Warum hast du dich nicht darum gekümmert, daß die Leviten die Steuer aus Juda und Jerusalem einbringen, die von Mose, dem Knechte Jahwes, der Volksgemeinde Israels zum Besten des Gesetzeszeltes auferlegt ward?

And he summoned the king Jehoiada the chief and he said to him why? not have you required on the Levites to bring from Judah and from Jerusalem [the] tax of Moses [the] servant of Yahweh and of the assembly of Israel to [the] tent of the testimony.

7 Denn Athalja, das ruchlose Weib, und ihre Söhne haben am Tempel Gottes Zerstörungen angerichtet, dazu auch alle dem Tempel Jahwes geweihte Gaben für die Baale verwendet!

For Athaliah the wickedness sons her they had broken into [the] house of God and also all [the] holy things of [the] house of Yahweh they had used for the Baals.

8 Sodann verfertigte man auf Befehl des Königs eine Lade und stellte sie hinaus vor das Thor des Tempels Jahwes.

And he said the king and they made a chest one and they put it at [the] gate of [the] house of Yahweh [the] outside towards.

9 Alsdann rief man in Juda und Jerusalem aus, daß man Jahwe die von Mose, dem Knechte Gottes, den Israeliten in der Wüste auferlegte Steuer herbeibringen solle.

And they made a proclamation in Judah and in Jerusalem to bring to Yahweh [the] tax of Moses [the] servant of God on Israel in the wilderness.

10 Da freuten sich alle Obersten bis auf den letzten Mann.

And they were glad all the officials and all the people and they brought and they threw to the chest until finished.

11 Und jedesmal, wenn er die Lade durch die Leviten zu der königlichen Aufsichtsbehörde bringen ließ, wenn sie nämlich sahen, daß des Geldes viel war, kam der Schreiber des Königs und der Beauftragte des Hohenpriesters; die leerten die Lade und trugen sie dann wieder an ihren Ort. So thaten sie Tag für Tag und sammelten eine Menge Geld.

And it was at [the] time [when] someone brought the chest to [the] overseer of the king by [the] hand of the Levites and just as saw they that [was] much the money and he came [the] scribe of the king and [the] officer of [the] priest of the head so they may pour out the chest and they took it and they returned it to place its thus they did to a day - in a day and they gathered money to abundance.

12 Und der König und Jojada gaben es den Werkführern bei der Arbeit am Tempel Jahwes; die dingeten alsdann Steinmetzen und Zimmerleute, um den Tempel Jahwes wiederherzustellen, dazu auch Eisen- und Kupferschmiede, um den Tempel Jahwes auszubessern.

And he gave it the king and Jehoiada to [the] doer of [the] work of [the] service of [the] house of Yahweh and they were hiring stone cutters and craftsmen to renew [the] house of Yahweh and also craftsmen of iron and bronze to repair [the] house of Yahweh.

13 Und die Werkmeister waren thätig, so daß die Ausbesserung durch sie vorwärts ging, und so stellten sie den Tempel Gottes nach den gegebenen Maßen wieder her und setzten ihn in guten Stand.

And they worked [the] doers of the work and it went up [the] repair for the work by hand their and they erected [the] house of God on measurement its and they strengthened it.

14 Und als sie damit fertig waren, brachten sie das übrige Geld dem König und Jojada, und man machte Geräte für den Tempel Jahwes daraus - Geräte für den Gottesdienst und die Darbringung der Opfer, Schalen und goldene und silberne Geräte. Und man brachte beständig Brandopfer im Tempel Jahwes, so lange Jojada lebte.

And just as had finished they they brought before the king and Jehoiada [the] remainder of the money and someone made it articles for [the] house of Yahweh articles of service and offering up and pans and articles of gold and silver and they were offering up burnt offerings in [the] house of Yahweh continually all [the] days of Jehoiada.

15 Es ward aber Jojada alt und lebenssatt und starb; hundertunddreißig Jahre war er alt, als er starb.

And he became old Jehoiada and he was satisfied days and he died a son of one hundred and thirty year[s] at death his.

16 Und man begrub ihn in der Stadt Davids bei den Königen; denn er hatte sich um Israel und um Gott und seinen Tempel verdient gemacht.

And people buried him in [the] city of David with the kings for he had done good in Israel and with God and house his.

17 Nach dem Tode Jojadas aber kamen die Obersten Judas und warfen sich vor dem Könige nieder; da hörte der König auf sie.

And after [the] death of Jehoiada they came [the] leaders of Judah and they bowed down to the king then he listened the king to them.

18 Und sie verließen den Tempel Jahwes, des Gottes ihrer Väter, und verehrten die Ascheren und die Schnitzbilder. Da kam grimmiger Zorn über Juda und Jerusalem um dieser Verschuldung willen.

And they abandoned [the] house of Yahweh [the] God of ancestors their and they served the Asherah poles and the idols and it was wrath towards Judah and Jerusalem in guilt their this.

19 Und er sandte Propheten unter sie, um sie zu Jahwe zurückzubringen; diese beschworen sie, aber sie hörten nicht darauf.

And he sent among them prophets to bring back them to Yahweh and they warned them and not they gave ear.

20 Aber der Geist Gottes ergriff Sacharja, den Sohn des Priesters Jojada, daß er vor das Volk trat und zu ihnen sprach: So spricht Gott: Warum übertretet ihr die Gebote Jahwes und wollt euch um euer Glück bringen? Weil ihr Jahwe verlassen habt, verließ er euch!

And [the] spirit of God it clothed Zechariah [the] son of Jehoiada the priest and he stood above the people and he said to them thus - he says God why? [are] you transgressing [the] commandments of Yahweh and not you will prosper for you have forsaken Yahweh and he has forsaken you.

21 Da stifteten sie eine Verschwörung wider ihn und steinigten ihn auf Befehl des Königs im Vorhofe des Tempels Jahwes.

And they conspired on him and they stoned him stone[s] by [the] command of the king in [the] courtyard of [the] house of Yahweh.

22 Und der König Jehoas gedachte nicht der Liebe, die ihm Jojada, der Vater jenes, erwiesen hatte, sondern ließ seinen Sohn töten. Dieser aber rief sterbend: Jahwe sieht es und wird es ahnden!

And not he remembered Joash the king the loyalty which he had done Jehoiada father his with him and he killed son his and when dying he he said may he see Yahweh and may he require.

23 Und um die Wende des Jahres rückte das Heer der Aramäer wider ihn an. Als die nach Juda und Jerusalem gelangt waren, rotteten sie alle Obersten des Volkes aus dem Volke aus und sandten alle Beute, die sie ihnen abgenommen, dem Könige von Damaskus.

And it was - to [the] circuit of the year it came up on him [the] army of Aram and they came to Judah and Jerusalem and they destroyed all [the] leaders of the people from [the] people and all booty their they sent to [the] king of Damascus.

24 Obwohl das aramäische Heer nur mit einer geringen Zahl von Leuten kam, gab doch Jahwe ein überaus großes Heer in ihre Gewalt, weil sie Jahwe, den Gott ihrer Väter, verlassen hatten, und so vollzogen sie an Jehoas das Strafgericht.

For with smallness of men they came - [the] army of Aram and Yahweh he gave in hand their an army for multitude exceedingly for they had forsaken Yahweh [the] God of ancestors their and with Joash they did judgment.

25 Als sie aber von ihm abzogen - sie ließen ihn nämlich schwer erkrankt zurück -, verschworen sich seine Diener wider ihn wegen der Blutschuld am Sohne des Priesters Jojada und ermordeten ihn auf seinem Bette. So starb er, und man begrub ihn in der Stadt Davids, begrub ihn aber nicht in den Gräbern der Könige.

And when went they from him for they had left him (with sicknesses *Qk) great they conspired on him own servants his in [the] blood of [the] sons of Jehoiada the priest and they killed him on bed his and he died and they buried him in [the] city of David and not they buried him in [the] graves of the kings.

26 Und diese waren es, die sich wider ihn verschworen hatten: Sabad, der Sohn der Ammoniterin Simeath, und Josabad, der Sohn der Moabiterin Simrith.

And these [are] the [ones who] conspired on him Zabad [the] son of Shimeath the Ammonite [woman] and Jehozabad [the] son of Shimrith the Moabite [woman].

27 Seine Söhne aber, sowie die Höhe des ihm auferlegten Tributs und der Bau des Tempels finden sich aufgezeichnet im Midrasch des Buches der Könige. Und sein Sohn Amazja ward König an seiner Statt.

And sons his (it will be numerous of *QK) the oracle on him and [the] founding of [the] house of God there they [are] written on [the] record of [the] scroll of the kings and he became king Amaziah son his in place of him.
