2 Chronik 18

1 So wurde Josaphat Reichtum und Ehre in Menge zu teil, und er verschwägerte sich mit Ahab.

Now Jehoshaphat had riches and honour in abundance, and joined affinity with Ahab.

2 Nach Verlauf einiger Jahre nun zog er zu Ahab nach Samaria hinab. Da schlachtete Ahab ihm und den Leuten, die er bei sich hatte, eine Menge Schafe und Rinder und verlockte ihn, mit gegen Ramoth in Gilead zu ziehen.

And after certain years he went down to Ahab to Samaria. And Ahab killed sheep and oxen for him in abundance, and for the people that he had with him, and persuaded him to go up with him to Ramoth-gilead.

3 Da sprach Ahab, der König von Israel, zu Josaphat, dem Könige von Juda: Willst du mit mir nach Ramoth in Gilead ziehen? Er erwiderte ihm: Ich will sein wie du; mein Volk sei wie dein Volk, und ich will mit dir in den Krieg!

And Ahab king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat king of Judah, Wilt thou go with me to Ramoth-gilead? And he answered him, I am as thou art, and my people as thy people; and we will be with thee in the war.

4 Und weiter sprach Josaphat zum Könige von Israel: Frage doch erst, was Jahwe dazu sagt!

And Jehoshaphat said unto the king of Israel, Inquire, I pray thee, at the word of YHWH to day.

5 Da versammelte der König von Israel die Propheten, vierhundert Mann, und fragte sie: Soll ich gegen Ramoth in Gilead in den Krieg ziehen oder soll ich es unterlassen? Sie antworteten: Ziehe hin, damit es Gott in die Gewalt des Königs gebe!

Therefore the king of Israel gathered together of prophets four hundred men, and said unto them, Shall we go to Ramoth-gilead to battle, or shall I forbear? And they said, Go up; for Elohim will deliver it into the king's hand.

6 Josaphat aber sprach: Ist denn hier weiter kein Prophet Jahwes, daß wir ihn befragen könnten?

But Jehoshaphat said, Is there not here a prophet of YHWH besides, that we might inquire of him?

7 Der König von Israel aber antwortete Josaphat: Noch einer ist da, durch den wir Jahwe befragen könnten; aber ich bin ihm gram, denn er pflegt über mich nicht Gutes zu weissagen, sondern allezeit Schlimmes: das ist Micha, der Sohn Jimlas. Josaphat aber sprach: Der König wolle nicht also reden!

And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat, There is yet one man, by whom we may inquire of YHWH: but I hate him; for he never prophesied good unto me, but always evil: the same is Micaiah the son of Imla. And Jehoshaphat said, Let not the king say so.

8 Da rief der König von Israel einen Kämmerer und befahl: Hole schleunigst Micha, den Sohn Jimlas!

And the king of Israel called for one of his officers, and said, Fetch quickly Micaiah the son of Imla.

9 Während nun der König von Israel und Josaphat, der König von Juda, angethan mit purpurnen Kleidern am Eingange des Thores von Samaria ein jeglicher auf seinem Throne saßen, und alle Propheten vor ihnen weissagten,

And the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat king of Judah sat either of them on his throne, clothed in their robes, and they sat in a void place at the entering in of the gate of Samaria; and all the prophets prophesied before them.

10 machte sich Zedekia, der Sohn Kenaanas, eiserne Hörner und rief: So spricht Jahwe: Mit solchen wirst du die Aramäer niederstoßen, bis du sie vernichtet hast!

And Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah had made him horns of iron, and said, Thus saith YHWH, With these thou shalt push Syria until they be consumed.

11 Und sämtliche Propheten weissagten ebenso und sprachen: Ziehe hin nach Ramoth in Gilead, und das Gelingen kann dir nicht fehlen; Jahwe wird es schon in die Gewalt des Königs geben!

And all the prophets prophesied so, saying, Go up to Ramoth-gilead, and prosper: for YHWH shall deliver it into the hand of the king.

12 Der Bote aber, der hingegangen war, Micha zu rufen, sprach zu ihm also: Sieh', die Propheten haben dem König einstimmig Gutes verkündigt; so laß doch dein Wort sein wie das Wort eines von ihnen und rede Gutes!

And the messenger that went to call Micaiah spake to him, saying, Behold, the words of the prophets declare good to the king with one assent; let thy word therefore, I pray thee, be like one of theirs, and speak thou good.

13 Micha aber sprach: So wahr Jahwe lebt: nur was mein Gott zu mir sagen wird, das will ich reden!

And Micaiah said, As YHWH liveth, even what my Elohim saith, that will I speak.

14 Als er nun zum Könige kam, fragte ihn der König: Micha, sollen wir nach Ramoth in Gilead in den Krieg ziehen oder sollen wir es unterlassen? Da antwortete er: Zieht hin, und das Gelingen kann euch nicht fehlen; sie werden in eure Gewalt gegeben werden!

And when he was come to the king, the king said unto him, Micaiah, shall we go to Ramoth-gilead to battle, or shall I forbear? And he said, Go ye up, and prosper, and they shall be delivered into your hand.

15 Der König aber sprach zu ihm: Wie oft soll ich dich beschwören, daß du mir im Namen Jahwes nichts als die Wahrheit verkündigen sollst?

And the king said to him, How many times shall I adjure thee that thou say nothing but the truth to me in the name of YHWH?

16 Da sprach er: Ich sah ganz Israel zerstreut auf den Bergen, wie Schafe, die keinen Hirten haben. Jahwe aber sprach: Diese haben keinen Herrn; sie mögen unversehrt ein jeglicher nach seinem Hause zurückkehren!

Then he said, I did see all Israel scattered upon the mountains, as sheep that have no shepherd: and YHWH said, These have no master; let them return therefore every man to his house in peace.

17 Der König von Israel aber sprach zu Josaphat: Habe ich dir nicht gesagt: Er weissagt nichts Gutes über mich, sondern Böses?

And the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, Did I not tell thee that he would not prophesy good unto me, but evil?

18 Da sprach er: Nicht doch! Vernehmt das Wort Jahwes! Ich sah Jahwe auf seinem Throne sitzen und das ganze Himmelsheer zu seiner Rechten und Linken stehen.

Again he said, Therefore hear the word of YHWH; I saw YHWH sitting upon his throne, and all the host of heaven standing on his right hand and on his left.

19 Und Jahwe sprach: Wer will Ahab, den König von Israel, bethören, daß er zu Felde ziehe und zu Ramoth in Gilead falle? Und der eine sagte dies, der andere sagte das.

And YHWH said, Who shall entice Ahab king of Israel, that he may go up and fall at Ramoth-gilead? And one spake saying after this manner, and another saying after that manner.

20 Da trat der Geist hervor, stellte sich vor Jahwe und sprach: ich will ihn bethören! Jahwe aber fragte ihn: Womit?

Then there came out a spirit, and stood before YHWH, and said, I will entice him. And YHWH said unto him, Wherewith?

21 Da antwortete er: Ich will ausgehen und zum Lügengeiste werden in aller seiner Propheten Munde! Er aber sprach: Ja, du wirst die Bethörung vollbringen! Gehe aus und thue also!

And he said, I will go out, and be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets. And YHWH said, Thou shalt entice him, and thou shalt also prevail: go out, and do even so.

22 So hat nun, wie du siehst, Jahwe in den Mund dieser deiner Propheten einen Lügengeist gelegt, während doch Jahwe Unheil über dich beschlossen hat.

Now therefore, behold, YHWH hath put a lying spirit in the mouth of these thy prophets, and YHWH hath spoken evil against thee.

23 Da trat Zedekia, der Sohn Kenaanas, herzu, schlug Micha auf den Backen und sprach: Auf welchem Wege wäre denn der Geist Jahwes von mir gewichen, um mit dir zu reden?

Then Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah came near, and smote Micaiah upon the cheek, and said, Which way went the Spirit of YHWH from me to speak unto thee?

24 Micha aber sprach: Du wirst es erfahren an dem Tag, an welchem du aus einer Kammer in die andere gehen wirst, um dich zu verstecken!

And Micaiah said, Behold, thou shalt see on that day when thou shalt go into an inner chamber to hide thyself.

25 Der König von Israel aber befahl: Nehmt Micha und bringt ihn zurück zu Amon, dem Befehlshaber über die Stadt, und zum Prinzen Joas

Then the king of Israel said, Take ye Micaiah, and carry him back to Amon the governor of the city, and to Joash the king's son;

26 und meldet: So spricht der König: Setzt diesen in den Kerker ein und speiset ihn mit kärglichem Brot und kärglichem Wasser, bis ich wohlbehalten wiederkomme.

And say, Thus saith the king, Put this fellow in the prison, and feed him with bread of affliction and with water of affliction, until I return in peace.

27 Da sprach Micha: Kehrst du wirklich wohlbehalten wieder, so hat Jahwe nicht durch mich geredet! Und er sprach: Höret, ihr Völker, insgesamt!

And Micaiah said, If thou certainly return in peace, then hath not YHWH spoken by me. And he said, Hearken, all ye people.

28 Also zog der König von Israel mit Josaphat, dem Könige von Juda, gegen Ramoth in Gilead.

So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah went up to Ramoth-gilead.

29 Und der König von Israel sprach zu Josaphat: Ich will mich verkleiden und so in den Kampf gehen; du aber behalte deine königlichen Kleider an! Und der König von Israel verkleidete sich, und sie gingen in den Kampf.

And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat, I will disguise myself, and will go to the battle; but put thou on thy robes. So the king of Israel disguised himself; and they went to the battle.

30 Der König von Aram aber hatte den Obersten seiner Streitwagen befohlen: Ihr sollt mit niemandem kämpfen, er sei gering oder vornehm, außer allein mit dem Könige von Israel!

Now the king of Syria had commanded the captains of the chariots that were with him, saying, Fight ye not with small or great, save only with the king of Israel.

31 Als nun die Obersten der Wagen Josaphat erblickten, dachten sie: das ist der König von Israel! und umringten ihn, um ihn anzugreifen. Aber Josaphat schrie, und Jahwe stand ihm bei und Gott lockte sie von ihm hinweg.

And it came to pass, when the captains of the chariots saw Jehoshaphat, that they said, It is the king of Israel. Therefore they compassed about him to fight: but Jehoshaphat cried out, and YHWH helped him; and Elohim moved them to depart from him.

32 Sobald jedoch die Obersten der Wagen merkten, daß es nicht der König von Israel war, ließen sie von ihm ab und lenkten wieder um.

For it came to pass, that, when the captains of the chariots perceived that it was not the king of Israel, they turned back again from pursuing him.

33 Ein Mann aber hatte von ungefähr den Bogen gespannt und traf den König von Israel zwischen Ringelgurt und Panzer. Da gebot er dem Wagenlenker: Lenke um und bringe mich aus dem Kampfgetümmel hinaus, denn ich bin verwundet!

And a certain man drew a bow at a venture, and smote the king of Israel between the joints of the harness: therefore he said to his chariot man, Turn thine hand, that thou mayest carry me out of the host; for I am wounded.

34 Aber der Kampf entbrannte jenes Tags immer heftiger, und der König von Israel stand aufrecht im Wagen den Aramäern gegenüber bis zum Abend; um die Zeit des Sonnenuntergangs aber starb er.

And the battle increased that day: howbeit the king of Israel stayed himself up in his chariot against the Syrians until the even: and about the time of the sun going down he died.
