2 Chronik 17
1 Und sein Sohn Josaphat ward König an seiner Statt und befestigte sich wider Israel.
And his son Jehoshaphat reigns in his stead, and he strengthens himself against Israel,
2 Er legte Heeresmacht in alle festen Städte Judas und legte Besatzungen in das Land Juda und die Städte Ephraims, die sein Vater Asa erobert hatte.
and puts a force in all the fortified cities of Judah, and puts garrisons in the land of Judah, and in the cities of Ephraim that his father Asa had captured.
3 Und Jahwe war mit Josaphat; denn er wandelte in den anfänglichen Wegen seines Ahnherrn David und hielt sich nicht an die Baale,
And YHWH is with Jehoshaphat, for he has walked in the first ways of his father David, and has not sought for the Ba‘alim,
4 sondern hielt sich an den Gott seines Ahnherrn und wandelte nach seinen Geboten und that nicht wie die Israeliten.
for he has sought for the God of his father, and he has walked in His commands, and not according to the work of Israel.
5 Daher ließ Jahwe das Königtum unter seiner Hand erstarken, und alle Judäer gaben Josaphat Geschenke, so daß ihm Reichtum und Ehre in Menge zu teil ward.
And YHWH establishes the kingdom in his hand, and all Judah gives a present to Jehoshaphat, and he has riches and honor in abundance,
6 Und da ihm in den Wegen Jahwes der Mut wuchs, so beseitigte er auch die Opferhöhen und die heiligen Bäume aus Juda.
and his heart is high in the ways of YHWH, and again he has turned aside the high places and the Asherim out of Judah.
7 Im dritten Jahre seiner Regierung aber sandte er seine obersten Beamten Benhail, Obadja, Sacharja, Nethaneel und Michaja aus, in den Städten Judas zu lehren,
And in the third year of his reign he has sent for his heads, for Ben-Hail, and for Obadiah, and for Zechariah, and for Nethaneel, and for Michaiah, to teach in cities of Judah;
8 und mit ihnen die Leviten Semaja, Nethanja, Sebadja, Asahel, Semiramoth, Jonathan, Adonia, Tobia und Tob-Adonia, die Leviten, und mit ihnen die Priester Elisama und Joram.
and with them the Levites: Shemaiah, and Nethaniah, and Zebadiah, and Asahel, and Shemiramoth, and Jonathan, and Adonijah, and Tobijath, and Tob-Adonijah—the Levites; and with them Elishama and Jehoram, the priests.
9 Die lehrten in Juda, indem sie das Buch mit dem Gesetze Jahwes bei sich hatten, und zogen in allen Städten Judas umher und lehrten unter dem Volke.
And they teach in Judah, and the Scroll of the Law of YHWH [is] with them, and they go around into all cities of Judah, and teach among the people.
10 Und der Schrecken Jahwes kam über alle Reiche der Heidenländer, die rings um Juda lagen, so daß sie nicht mit Josaphat kriegten.
And there is a fear of YHWH on all kingdoms of the lands that [are] around Judah, and they have not fought with Jehoshaphat;
11 Und von den Philistern brachten welche dem Josaphat Geschenke und Silber als Tribut; auch die Araber brachten ihm Kleinvieh: 7700 Widder und 7700 Ziegenböcke.
and [some] from the Philistines are bringing a present to Jehoshaphat, and silver [as] tribute; also, the Arabians are bringing to him a flock of seven thousand and seven hundred rams, and seven thousand and seven hundred male goats.
12 Und so ward Josaphat immer mächtiger, bis er es überaus war, und er erbaute in Juda Schlösser und Vorratsstädte
And Jehoshaphat is going on and becoming very great, and he builds palaces and cities of store in Judah,
13 und hatte gewaltigen Mundvorrat in den Städten Judas und eine Schar tapferer Krieger zu Jerusalem.
and he has much work in cities of Judah; and men of war, mighty men of valor, [are] in Jerusalem.
14 Und dies ist ihre Amtsordnung nach ihren Familien: zu Juda gehörten als Oberste von Tausendschaften: Adna, der Oberste, und mit ihm 300000 tapfere Männer;
And these [are] their numbers, for the house of their fathers—of Judah, heads of thousands: Adnah the head, and with him three hundred thousand mighty men of valor;
15 neben ihm Johanan, der Oberste, und mit ihm 280000,
and at his hand [is] Jehohanan the head, and with him two hundred and eighty thousand;
16 und neben ihm Amasja, der Sohn Sichris, der sich freiwillig Jahwe hingegeben hatte, und mit ihm 200000 tapfere Männer.
and at his hand [is] Amasiah son of Zichri, who is willingly offering himself to YHWH, and with him two hundred thousand mighty men of valor.
17 Zu Benjamin aber gehörten: der tapfere Eljada und mit ihm 200000 mit Bogen und Schild Gerüstete,
And of Benjamin, mighty men of valor: Eliada, and with him two hundred thousand armed with bow and shield;
18 und neben ihm Josabad und mit ihm 180000 zum Kriegszuge Gerüstete.
and at his hand [is] Jehozabad, and with him one hundred and eighty thousand armed ones of the host.
19 Diese waren es, die dem Könige dienten, abgesehen von denen, die der König in ganz Juda in die festen Städte gelegt hatte.
These [are] those serving the king, apart from those whom the king put in the fortress cities in all of Judah.
