1 Samuel 7

1 Da kamen die Leute von Kirjath Jearim und holten die Lade Jahwes hinauf; und zwar brachten sie sie in das Haus Abinadabs auf der Anhöhe und weihten seinen Sohn Eleasar dazu, daß er die Lade Jahwes hüte.

Therfor men of Cariathiarym camen, and ledden ayen the arke of the Lord, and brouyten it in to the hows of Amynadab in Gabaa. Sotheli thei halewiden Eleazar his sone, that he schulde kepe the ark of the Lord.

2 Seitdem nun die Lade in Kirjath Jearim weilte, verging eine lange Zeit, es verflossen zwanzig Jahre; da wandte sich das ganze Haus Israel Jahwe zu.

And it was doon, fro which dai `the arke of the Lord dwellide in Caryathiarym, daies weren multiplied; for the twentithe yeer was now, after that Samuel bigan to teche the puple; and al Israel restide aftir the Lord.

3 Samuel aber sprach zum ganzen Hause Israel also: Falls ihr euch von ganzem Herzen zu Jahwe zurückwenden wollt, so entfernt aus eurer Mitte die ausländischen Götter und die Astarten und richtet euren Sinn auf Jahwe, daß ihr ihn allein verehrt, - so wird er euch aus der Gewalt der Philister befreien.

Forsothe Samuel spak to al the hows of Israel, and seide, If in al youre herte ye turnen ayen to the Lord, do ye awei alien goddis, Balym and Astaroth, fro the myddis of you; and make ye redi youre hertis to the Lord, and serue ye hym aloone; and he schal delyuere you fro the hond of Filisteis.

4 Da entfernten die Israeliten die Baale und Astarten und verehrten Jahwe allein.

Therfor the sones of Israel diden awey Baalym and Astoroth, and serueden the Lord aloone.

5 Darauf gebot Samuel: Versammelt ganz Israel nach Mizpa, so will ich für euch zu Jahwe beten!

Forsothe Samuel seide, Gadere ye al Israel in to Masphat, that Y preie the Lord for you.

6 Da versammelten sie sich in Mizpa und schöpften Wasser und gossen es vor Jahwe aus und fasteten an jenem Tag und bekannten dort: Wir haben gegen Jahwe gesündigt! Und Samuel sprach den Israeliten Recht in Mizpa.

And thei camen togidere in to Masphat, and thei drowen watir, and shedden out in the `siyt of the Lord; and thei fastiden in that day, and seiden, Lord, we synneden to thee. And Samuel demyde the sones of Israel in Masphat.

7 Als aber die Philister hörten, daß sich die Israeliten in Mizpa versammelt hatten, zogen die Fürsten der Philister gegen Israel heran. Als die Israeliten dies vernahmen, gerieten sie in Furcht vor den Philistern;

And Filisteis herden that the sones of Israel weren gaderid in Masphat; and the princes of Filisteis stieden to Israel. And whanne the sones of Israel hadden herd this, thei dredden of the face of Filisteis.

8 und die Israeliten baten Samuel: Versage dich uns nicht, daß du nicht zu Jahwe, unserem Gotte, flehen solltest, daß er uns aus der Gewalt der Philister befreie!

And `thei seiden to Samuel, Ceesse thou not to crye for vs to oure Lord God, that he saue vs fro the `hoond of Filisteis.

9 Da nahm Samuel ein Milchlamm und brachte es Jahwe als Brandopfer - und Jahwe erhörte ihn.

Forsothe Samuel took o soukynge lomb, and offride that hool in to brent sacrifice to the Lord. And Samuel criede to the Lord for Israel; and the Lord herde hym.

10 Während nun Samuel eben das Brandopfer darbrachte, waren die Philister nahe herangerückt zum Kampfe mit Israel. Jahwe aber donnerte an jenem Tage mit gewaltigem Schalle wider die Philister und setzte sie in Verwirrung, daß sie Israel unterlagen.

Forsothe it was doon, whanne Samuel offryde brent sacrifice, that Filisteis bigunnen batel ayens Israel. Sotheli the Lord thundride with greet thundur in that dai on Filisteis, and made hem aferd; and thei weren slayn of the sones of Israel.

11 Die Männer Israels aber rückten von Mizpa aus, verfolgten die Philister und richteten unter ihnen eine Niederlage an bis unterhalb von Bethkar.

And the sones of Israel yeden out of Masphat, and pursueden Filisteis, and smytiden hem `til to the place that was vndur Bethachar.

12 Samuel aber nahm einen großen Stein und stellte ihn zwischen Mizpa und Jeschana auf. Und er nannte ihn Eben Ha-eser und sprach: Bis hierher hat uns Jahwe Hilfe geleistet!

Forsothe Samuel took o stoon, and puttide it bitwixe Masphat, and bitwixe Sen; and he clepide the name of that place The stoon of help. And he seide, Hidir to the Lord helpide vs.

13 So waren denn die Philister niedergeworfen, so daß sie fernerhin nicht mehr in das Gebiet Israels eindrangen, sondern Jahwes Hand lag auf den Philistern, so lange Samuel lebte.

And Filisteis weren maad low, and addiden no more to come in to the termes of Israel. And so the `hond of the Lord was maad on Filisteis in alle the daies of Samuel.

14 Die Städte aber, welche die Philister Israel weggenommen hatten, kamen an Israel zurück, von Ekron bis Gath; auch das zu ihnen gehörende Gebiet entriß Israel den Händen der Philister. Und es ward Friede zwischen Israel und den Amoritern.

And the citees whiche the Filisteis token fro Israel, weren yoldun to Israel, fro Accaron `til to Geth and `hise termes; and the Lord delyuerede Israel fro the hond of Filisteis; and pees was bitwixe Israel and Ammorrey.

15 Samuel aber übte das Richteramt über Israel sein Lebelang aus,

Also Samuel demyde Israel in alle the daies of his lijf, that is, `til to the ordeynyng `and confermyng of Saul;

16 und zwar wanderte er Jahr für Jahr umher und besuchte Bethel und Gilgal und Mizpa und sprach Israel an allen diesen Stätten Recht.

and he yede bi `alle yeeris, and cumpasside Bethel, and Galgal, and Masphat, and he demyde Israel in the forseid places.

17 Dann kehrte er nach Rama zurück, denn da wohnte er und da sprach er Israel Recht. Und er errichtete daselbst Jahwe einen Altar.

And he turnede ayen in to Ramatha, for his hows was there; and he demyde Israel there, and he bildide there also an auter to the Lord.
