1 Samuel 5

1 Die Philister aber hatten die Lade Gottes an sich genommen und sie von Eben Ha-eser nach Asdod überführt.

And [the] Philistines they took [the] ark of God and they brought it from Eben-ezer Ashdod towards.

2 Darauf nahmen die Philister die Lade Gottes, brachten sie in den Tempel Dagons und stellen sie neben Dagon hin.

And they took [the] Philistines [the] ark of God and they brought it [the] house of Dagon and they placed it beside Dagon.

3 Als aber die Asdoditer am andern Morgen früh in den Tempel Dagons kamen, gewahrten sie, daß Dagon vor der Lade Jahwes niedergefallen war auf sein Angesicht. Da nahmen sie den Dagon und stellen ihn wieder an seinen Platz.

And they rose early [the] Ashdodites from [the] next day and there! Dagon [was] fallen to face its [the] ground towards before [the] ark of Yahweh and they took Dagon and they returned it to place its.

4 Am andern Morgen früh aber befand sich, daß Dagon abermals vor der Lade Jahwes auf sein Angesicht niedergefallen war, und zwar lagen der Kopf Dagons und seine beiden Hände abgeschlagen auf der Schwelle; nur der Rumpf Dagons war noch von ihm zurückgeblieben.

And they rose early in the morning from [the] next day and there! Dagon [was] fallen to face its [the] ground towards before [the] ark of Yahweh and [the] head of Dagon and [the] two - [the] palms of hands its were cut off to the threshold only Dagon it remained on it.

5 Daher treten die Priester Dagons und wer irgend den Dagonstempel besucht bis auf den heutigen Tag nicht auf die Schwelle Dagons in Asdod.

There-fore not they tread [the] priests of Dagon and all those [who] go [the] house of Dagon on [the] threshold of Dagon in Ashdod until the day this.

6 Es lag aber die Hand Jahwes schwer auf den Asdoditern; er setzte sie in Schrecken und schlug sie mit Pestbeulen, sowohl Asdod als sein Gebiet.

And it was heavy [the] hand of Yahweh against the Ashdodites and he devastated them and he struck them (with tumors *QK) Ashdod and territories its.

7 Als aber die Leute von Asdod merkten, daß es an dem sei, erklärten sie: Die Lade des Gottes Israels soll nicht länger bei uns bleiben, denn seine Hand lastet schwer auf uns und unserem Gott Dagon.

And they saw [the] people of Ashdod that so and they said not it will remain [the] ark of [the] God of Israel with us for it is hard hand his on us and on Dagon God our.

8 Darauf sandten sie hin, versammelten alle Fürsten der Philister zu sich und sprachen: Was sollen wir mit der Lade des Gottes Israels anfangen? Jene erklärten: Nach Gath soll die Lade des Gottes Israels übergeführt werden. Da führten sie die Lade des Gottes Israels dorthin über.

And they sent and they gathered all [the] rulers of [the] Philistines to them and they said what? will we do to [the] ark of [the] God of Israel and they said Gath let it go round [the] ark of [the] God of Israel and they brought round [the] ark of [the] God of Israel.

9 Aber nachdem man sie übergeführt hatte, kam die Hand Jahwes über die Stadt in Gestalt einer gewaltigen Bestürzung, und er schlug die Bewohner der Stadt, klein und groß, daß die Beulen an ihnen hervorbrachen.

And it was after - they had brought round it and it was [the] hand of Yahweh - on the city panic great exceedingly and he struck [the] men of the city from young and unto [the] old and they broke out to them (tumors. *QK)

10 Da schickten sie die Lade Gottes nach Ekron. Als aber die Lade Gottes in Ekron ankam, da wehklagten die Ekroniter: Sie haben die Lade des Gottes Israels zu mir übergeführt, um mich und mein Volk dem Tode preiszugeben!

And they sent [the] ark of God Ekron and it was when went [the] ark of God Ekron and they cried out the Ekronites saying they have brought round to me [the] ark of [the] God of Israel to kill me and people my.

11 Sodann sandten sie hin, versammelten alle Fürsten der Philister und forderten: Schickt die Lade des Gottes Israels fort, daß sie an ihren Ort zurückkomme und nicht mich und mein Volk umbringe! Denn es war eine tödliche Bestürzung über die ganze Stadt gekommen; gar schwer lag die Hand Gottes darauf.

And they sent and they gathered all [the] rulers of [the] Philistines and they said send away [the] ark of [the] God of Israel so may it return to own place its and not it will kill me and people my for it was panic of death in all the city it was heavy exceedingly [the] hand of God there.

12 Die Leute, die nicht starben, wurden mit Pestbeulen geplagt, und das Wehgeschrei der Stadt stieg zum Himmel empor.

And the men who not they died they were struck (with the tumors *QK) and it went up [the] cry for help of the city the heavens.
