1 Samuel 25

1 Da starb Samuel, und ganz Israel versammelte sich und betrauerte ihn, und man begrub ihn bei seinem Hause in Rama. Und David machte sich auf und zog hinab in die Wüste Maon.

And he died Samuel and they gathered together all Israel and they mourned for him and they buried him at house his in Ramah and he arose David and he went down to [the] wilderness of Paran.

2 Nun lebte in Maon ein Mann, der hatte sein Geschäft in Karmel. Der Mann war sehr reich; er besaß 3000 Schafe und 1000 Ziegen. Er eben mit der Schur seine Schafe in Karmel beschäftigt.

And a man [was] in Maon and business his [was] in Carmel and the man [was] great very and [belonged] to him sheep three thousand and one thousand goats and it was when sheared sheep his in Carmel.

3 Der Mann hieß Nabul und sein Weib Abigail. Sie war eine Frau von gutem Verstand und schönem Äußeren, der Mann hingegen roh und bösartig: er war ein Kalebiter.

And [the] name of the man [was] Nabal and [the] name of wife his [was] Abigail and the woman [was] good of insight and beautiful of appearance and the man [was] hard and evil of deeds and he ([was] a Calebite. *Q(K)*)

4 Als nun David in der Wüste vernahm, daß Nabal in der Schafschur begriffen sei,

And he heard David in the wilderness that [was] shearing Nabal sheep his.

5 schickte David zehn Leute ab. Und David gebot den Leuten: Geht nach Karmel hinauf, begebt euch zu Nabal, grüßt ihn in meinem Namen

And he sent David ten young men and he said David to the young men go up Carmel towards and you will go to Nabal and you will ask of him in name my to welfare.

6 und richtet meinem Bruder aus: Du selbst bist wohlbehalten, dazu auch deine Familie, sowie dein ganzer Besitz.

And you will say thus to the living [one] and you peace and house your peace and all that [belongs] to you peace.

7 Nun habe ich gehört, daß man bei dir Schur hält. Da nun deine Hirten in unserer Nähe geweilt haben, ohne daß wir sie beschimpften, oder daß etwas von ihnen vermißt wurde, so lange sie in Karmel waren,

And now I have heard that shearers [belong] to you now the shepherds who [belong] to you they have been with us not we have humiliated them and not it has been missing to them anything all [the] days of being they in Carmel.

8 - frage nur deine Leute, so werden sie es dir sagen, - so magst du dich den Leuten freundlich erweisen, wir sind ja zu einem Festtage gekommen! Gieb also deinen Sklaven und deinem Sohne David, was du gerade zur Hand hast!

Ask own young men your so they may tell to you and let them find the young men favor in view your for on a day good we have come give! please [that] which it will find hand your to servants your and to son your to David.

9 Als nun Davids Leute hinkamen, richteten sie diesen Auftrag Davids vollständig aus und warteten sodann.

And they went [the] young men of David and they spoke to Nabal according to all the words these in [the] name of David and they rested.

10 Nabal aber erwiderte davids Knechten also: Wer ist David? wer ist der Sohn Isais? Heutzutage giebt es genug Knechte, die ihrem Herrn davonlaufen!

And he answered Nabal [the] servants of David and he said who? [is] David and who? [is] [the] son of Jesse this day they are many servants who break away each one from before master his.

11 Soll ich etwa mein Brot, meinen Wein und mein Schlachtvieh, daß ich für meine Scherer geschlachtet habe, nehemn und an Leute weggeben, von denen ich nicht einmal weiß, woher sie sind?

And will I take bread my and water my and slaughter my which I have slaughtered for shearers my and will I give [them] to men who not I know where? from this [are] they.

12 Da wandten sich Davids Leute zum Rückweg, gingen heim und meldeten ihm genau, was vorgefallen war.

And they turned round [the] young men of David to way their and they returned and they came and they told to him according to all the words these.

13 Da gebot David seiner Schar: Jeder gürte sein Schwert um. Dann gürtete David auch sein Schwert um, und sie marschierten unter Davids Führung aus, bei 400 Mann stark; 200 aber blieben beim Gepäck.

And he said David to men his gird on - everyone sword his and they girded on everyone sword his and he girded on also David sword his and they went up - after David about four hundred man and two hundred they remained with the baggage.

14 Inzwischen hatte einer von den Knechten Abigail, dem Weibe Nabals, die Kunde hinterbracht: Eben hat David von der Wüste aus Boten geschickt, unsern Herrn grüßen zu lassen, aber er fuhr auf sie los.

And to Abigail [the] wife of Nabal he told a young man one from the young men saying there! he sent David messengers - from the wilderness to bless master our and he shouted at them.

15 Und die Männer sind doch sehr gut gegen uns; wir sind nicht beschimpft worden und haben nie etwas vermißt, wenn wir auf dem Felde waren, so lange wir in ihrer Nähe umherzogen.

And the men [were] good to us very and not we were humiliated and not we missed anything all [the] days [which] we went about with them when were we in the field.

16 Sie waren eine Mauer um uns bei Nacht wie bei Tage, so lange wir in ihrer Nähe die Schafe hüteten.

A wall they were with us both night as well as by day all [the] days of being we with them shepherding the flock.

17 Besinne dich daher, was du jetzt thun willst, denn das Verderben ist beschlossen über unsern Herrn und über sein ganzes Haus; er selbst aber ist ein zu bösartiger Mann, als daß man mit ihm reden könnte.

And now know and see what? will you do for it has been determined evil against master our and on all household his and he [is] a son of worthlessness from speaking to him.

18 Da nahm Abigail schleunigst zweihundert Brote, zwei Schläuche mit Wein, fünf fertig zubereitete Schafe, fünf Sea geröstetes Getreide, hundert Rosinentrauben und zweihundert Feigenkuchen, packte sie auf Esel

And she made haste (Abigail *Q(k)*) and she took two hundred bread[s] and two jars of wine and five sheep (prepared *Q(k)*) and five seahs of roasted grain and a hundred bunches of raisins and two hundred fig cakes and she put [them] on the donkeys.

19 und gebot, ohne ihrem Manne Nabal etwas davon zu sagen, ihren Leuten: Geht mit voraus, ich folge euch sogleich nach!

And she said to servants her pass on before me here I after you [will be] coming and to husband her Nabal not she told.

20 Während sie nun vom Berge verdeckt auf einem Esel abwärts ritt, kam plötzlich David mit seinen Leuten den Berg herunter auf sie zu, so daß sie auf sie stieß.

And it was she - [was] riding on the donkey and [was] going down in [the] cover of the mountain and there! David and men his [were] going down to meet her and she met them.

21 David aber hatte erwogen: Rein umsonst habe ich dem seine gesamte Habe in der Wüste behütet, so daß nie etwas von seiner gesamten Habe vermißt wurde: er aber hat mir Gutes mit Bösem vergolten!

And David he had said surely to deception I have guarded all that [belongs] to this [man] in the wilderness and not it has been missing any of all that [belongs] to him anything and he has returned to me evil in place of good.

22 Dies und das thue Gott David an, wenn ich von allem, was sein ist, bis der Morgentagt, einen, der an die Wand pißt, übrig lasse!

Thus may he do God to [the] enemies David and thus may he add if I will leave any of all that [belongs] to him until the morning [one who] urinates on a wall.

23 Als nun Abigail David erblickte, stieg sie eilends vom Esel und warf sich zur Erde niedergestreckt vor David auf ihr Angesicht,

And she saw Abigail David and she made haste and she came down from on the donkey and she fell to [the] face of David on face her and she bowed down [the] ground.

24 warf sich ihm dann zu Füßen und rief: Auf mir, mein Herr, liegt die Schuld! Möchte deine Sklavin vor dir reden dürfen, und möchtest du den Worten deiner Sklavin Gehör schenken!

And she fell at feet his and she said [be] on me I O lord my the iniquity and let her speak please maidservant your in ears your and hear [the] words of maidservant your.

25 Möchte sich doch mein Herr um diesen nichtswürdigen Menschen, den Nabal, nicht kümmern, denn wie er heißt, so ist er: Nabal heißt er, und voll Thorheit ist er: ich aber, deine Sklavin, habe die Leute meines Herrn nicht gesehen, die du gesandt hast.

May not please he set lord my - heart his to [the] man of worthlessness this on Nabal for like name his [is] so he [is] Nabal name his and disgraceful folly [is] with him and I maidservant your not I saw [the] young men of lord my whom you sent.

26 Nun denn, mein Herr, so wahr Jahwe lebt, und so wahr du lebst, den Jahwe davon zurückgehalten hat, in blutschuld zu geraten und dir mit eigener Hand zu helfen: nun, mögen Nabal gleich werden deine Feinde und wer über meinen Herrn Unheil bringen will!

And now O lord my [by] [the] life of Yahweh and [by] [the] life of self your that he has restrained you Yahweh from coming in blood and [from] delivering hand your you and now may they be like Nabal enemies your and those [who] seek against lord my evil.

27 Nun denn, dies Geschenk, daß deine Sklavin meinem Herrn mitgebracht hat, laß den Leuten geben, die das Gefolge meines Herrn auf seinen Zügen bilden.

And now the blessing this which he has brought maidservant your to lord my and it will be given to the young men who go about at [the] feet of lord my.

28 Vergieb deiner Sklavin ihr Vergehen, denn Jahwe wird meinem Herrn ein dauerndes Haus schaffen, weil mein Herr die Kämpfe Jahwes kämpft, und sich kein Unrecht an dir finden wird dein Leben lang.

Forgive please to [the] transgression of maidservant your for certainly he will make Yahweh for lord my a house enduring for [the] battles of Yahweh lord my [is] fighting and evil not it will be found in you from days your.

29 Wenn ein Mensch sich erhebt, dich zu verfolgen, und dir nach dem Leben zu trachten, so möge das Leben meines Herrn eingebunden sein in das Bündel der Lebendigen bei Jahwe, deinem Gotte; das Leben deiner Feinde aber möge er fortschleudern in der Schleuderpfanne!

And he has arisen a man to pursue you and to seek life your and it will be [the] life of lord my bound up - in [the] bundle of the living with Yahweh God your and [the] life of enemies your he will sling out it in [the] midst of [the] hollow of sling.

30 Wenn dann Jahwe an meinem Herrn ganz so thut, wie er dir Gutes verheißen hat, und dich zum Fürsten über Israel bestellt,

And it will be that he will do Yahweh to lord my according to all that he has spoken the good on you and he will appoint you to ruler over Israel.

31 so wird dir das nicht zum Anstoß und Fallstrick gereichen, daß mein Herr unschuldig Blut vergossen und sich mit eigner Hand Hilfe geschafft hätte. Wenn aber Jahwe meinem Herrn wohlthun wird, so denke an deine Sklavin!

And not it will become this - for you staggering and stumbling of heart for lord my and pouring out of blood without cause and to deliver lord my himself and he will do good Yahweh to lord my and you will remember maidservant your.

32 David erwiderte Abigail: Gepriesen sei Jahwe, der Gott Israels, der dich mir heute entgegengeschickt hat,

And he said David to Abigail [be] blessed Yahweh [the] God of Israel who he has sent you the day this to meet me.

33 gepriesen deine Klugheit und gepriesen du selbst, die mich heute davon zurückhielt, daß ich in Blutschuld geriet und mir mit eigener Hand half!

And [be] blessed discernment your and [be] blessed you who you have restrained me the day this from coming in blood and [from] delivering hand my me.

34 Aber so wahr Jahwe lebt, der Gott Israels, der mich abgehlten hat, dir Übles zu thun: wenn du nicht geeilt hättest, mir entgegenzukommen, es wäre Nabal, bis der Morgen tagte, nicht einer übrig geblieben, der an die Wand pißt!

And but [by] [the] life of Yahweh [the] God of Israel who he has restrained me from doing harm to you if - if not you had made haste (and you had come *Q(k)*) to meet me that except he has been left to Nabal until [the] light of the morning [one who] urinates on a wall.

35 Hierauf nahm David, was sie ihm mitgebracht hatte, von ihr an und zu ihr selbst sprach er: Geh unbesorgt heim. Sieh, ich habe dir Gehör geschenkt und Rücksicht auf dich genommen!

And he took David from hand her [that] which she had brought to him and to her he said go up to peace to house your see I have listened to voice your and I have lifted up face your.

36 Als aber Abigail zu Nabal heim kam, da hielt er eben im Hause einen Schmaus, wie ein Königsmahl. Nabals Herz war guter Dinge, und er war schwer betrunken. daher sagte sie ihm nicht das Geringste, bis der Morgen tagte.

And she went Abigail - to Nabal and there! [belonged] to him a feast in house his like [the] feast of king and [the] heart of Nabal it was good on him and he [was] drunk up to muchness and not she told to him anything small and great until [the] light of the morning.

37 Am andern Morgen aber, als der Rausch von Nabal gewichen war, erzählte ihm sein Weib, was vorgegangen war. Da erstarb sein Herz in seinem Leibe und er wurde wie ein Stein.

And it was in the morning when had gone out the wine from Nabal and she told to him wife his the things these and it died heart his in inward part[s] his and he he became stone.

38 Und es währte etwa zehn Tage, da schlug Jahwe Nabal, daß er starb.

And it was about [the] ten the days and he struck Yahweh Nabal and he died.

39 Als nun David hörte, daß Nabal tot sei, rief er aus: Gepriesen sei Jahwe, der meine Beschimpfung an Nabal gerochen und seinen Knecht vom Unrecht zurüchgehalten hat, während Jahwe das Unrecht Nabals auf ihn selbst zurückfallen ließ! Darauf sandte David hin und warb um Abigail, um sie sich zum Weibe zu nehmen.

And he heard David that he had died Nabal and he said [be] blessed Yahweh who he has conducted [the] case of disgrace my from [the] hand of Nabal and servant his he has restrained from evil and [the] evil of Nabal he has turned back Yahweh on own head his and he sent David and he spoke with Abigail to take her for himself to a wife.

40 Als nun Davids Untergebene zu Abigail nach Karmel kamen und um sie warben, indem sie sprachen: David schickt uns zu dir, um dich zu holen, daß du sein Weib werdest,

And they went [the] servants of David to Abigail Carmel towards and they spoke to her saying David he has sent us to you to take you for himself to a wife.

41 da erhob sie sich, warf sich dann mit dem Angesicht zur Erde nieder und rief: Dein Sklavin betrachtet sich als Magd, bereit, den Untergebenen meines herrn die Füße zu waschen!

And she arose and she bowed down face [the] ground towards and she said here! maidservant your to a maid to wash [the] feet of [the] servants of lord my.

42 Sodann stand Abigail schleunigst auf und bestieg ihren Esel; ebenso ihre fünf Mädchen, die ihr Gefolge bildeten. So folgte sie den Abgesandten Davids und wurde sein Weib.

And she made haste and she arose Abigail and she rode on the donkey and five maids her who walked to foot her and she went after [the] messengers of David and she became of him a wife.

43 Ahinoam aber hatte sich David aus Jesreel geholt; so wurden beide zumal seine Frauen.

And Ahinoam he had taken David from Jezreel and they became also both of them of him wives.

44 Saul hingegen hatte seine Tochter Michal, das Weib Davids, Palti, dem Sohne des Lais aus Gallim, gegeben.

And Saul he had given Michal daughter his [the] wife of David to Palti [the] son of Laish who [was] from Gallim.
