1 Samuel 16

1 Und Jahwe sprach zu Samuel: Wie lange willst du um Saul trauern, da ich ihn doch zu gering geachtet habe, König über Israel zu sein? Fülle dein Horn mit Öl und mache dich auf den Weg: ich sende dich zu dem Bethlehemiten Isai; denn unter seinen Söhnen habe ich mir einen zum König ersehen.

And he said Yahweh to Samuel until when? [are] you mourning to Saul and I I have rejected him from reigning over Israel fill horn your oil and go I will send you to Jesse [the] Beth-lehemite for I have seen among sons his for myself a king.

2 Samuel erwiderte: Wie kann ich hingehen? Wenn Saul davon hört, wird er mich umbringen! Jahwe aber gebot: Nimm eine junge Kuh mit und sage: Jahwe zu opfern, komme ich!

And he said Samuel how? will I go and he will hear Saul and he will kill me. And he said Yahweh a heifer of cattle you will take in hand your and you will say to sacrifice to Yahweh I have come.

3 und lade den Isai zum Opfermahl. Ich selbst werde dir dann mitteilen, was du thun sollst, und zwar sollst du mir den salben, den ich dir nennen werde.

And you will invite Jesse at the sacrifice and I I will make known to you [that] which you will do and you will anoint for me [the one] whom I will say to you.

4 Samuel that, was Jahwe geboten hatte. Und als er nach Bethlehem kam, gingen ihm die Vornehmsten der Stadt unterwürfig entgegen und fragten: Bedeutet dein Kommen Gutes?

And he did Samuel [that] which he said Yahweh and he came Beth-lehem and they trembled [the] elders of the city to meet him and someone said [in] peace [are] coming? you.

5 Er antwortete: Jawohl! Jahwe zu opfern, komme ich; heiligt euch und kommt mit mir zum Opfermahl! Sodann heiligte er Isai und seine Söhne und lud sie zum Opfermahl.

And he said - peace to sacrifice to Yahweh I have come consecrate yourselves and you will come with me at the sacrifice and he consecrated Jesse and sons his and he invited them to the sacrifice.

6 Als sie nun kamen, und er den Eliab erblickte, dachte er: Sicherlich steht hier vor Jahwe sein Gesalbter!

And it was when came they and he saw Eliab and he said surely [is] before Yahweh anointed his.

7 Jahwe aber sprach zu Samuel: Achte nicht auf sein Aussehen und seinen hohne Wuchs, denn ich habe ihn nicht gewürdigt. Denn Gott sieht nicht das an, worauf der Mensch sieht: der Mensch sieht auf den Augenschein, Jahwe aber sieht auf das Herz!

And he said Yahweh to Samuel may not you look to appearance his and to [the] height of stature his for I have rejected him for - not [that] which he sees man for man he sees to the eyes and Yahweh he sees to the heart.

8 Da rief Isai den Abinadab und führte ihn Samuel vor. Aber er erklärte: Auch diesen hat Jahwe nicht erkoren!

And he called Jesse to Abinadab and he made pass by him before Samuel and he said also this one not he has chosen Yahweh.

9 Da führte Isai den Samma vor. Aber er erklärte: Auch diesen hat Jahwe nicht erkoren!

And he made pass by Jesse Shammah and he said also this one not he has chosen Yahweh.

10 Da führte Isai Samuel seine sieben Söhne vor; aber Samuel erklärte Isai: Diese hat Jahwe nicht erkoren!

And he made pass by Jesse seven of sons his before Samuel and he said Samuel to Jesse not he has chosen Yahweh these.

11 Da fragte Samuel Isai: Sind das die jungen Leute alle? Er entgegnete: Es fehlt noch der Jüngste, der hütet die Schafe. Samuel gebot Isai: Sende hin und laß ihn holen; denn wir setzen uns nicht, bevor er herkommt!

And he said Samuel to Jesse ¿ are they finished the young men and he said still he remains the young [one] and there! [he is] shepherding the flock and he said Samuel to Jesse send! and bring him for not we will turn round until comes he here.

12 Da sandte er hin und ließ ihn kommen; und er war rötlich, mit schönen Augen und wohlgebildeter gestalt. da befahl Jahwe: Auf! salbe ihn, denn dieser ist es!

And he sent and he brought him and he [was] red with beautiful of eyes and good of appearance. And he said Yahweh arise anoint him for this [is] he.

13 Da nahm Samuel das Ölhorn und salbte ihn in Gegenwart seiner Brüder. Da kam der Geist Jahwes über David von dem Tage an und weiterhin. Samuel aber brach auf und begab sich nach Rama.

And he took Samuel [the] horn of oil and he anointed him in [the] midst of brothers his and it rushed [the] spirit of Yahweh to David from the day that and on-wards and he arose Samuel and he went Ramah towards.

14 Nachden nun der Geist Jahwes von Saul sich zurückgezogen hatte, quälte ihn ein von Jahwe ausgesandter böser Geist.

And [the] spirit of Yahweh it departed from with Saul and it terrified him a spirit evil from with Yahweh.

15 Da machte Sauls Umgebung diesen Vorschlag: Da dich einmal ein böser Gottesgeist quält,

And they said [the] servants of Saul to him here! please a spirit of God evil [is] terrifying you.

16 so darf unser Herr nur gebieten; deine Sklaven stehen zu deiner Verfügung und werden einen Mann suchen, der ein kundiger Zitherspieler ist: wenn dann der böse Gottesgeist über dich kommt, und er spielt, so wird es dir besser werden.

Let him say please lord our servants your before you let them seek a person [who] knows playing on the harp and it will be when is on you a spirit of God evil and he will play with hand his and good [will belong] to you.

17 Saul erwiderte seiner Umgebung: Seht euch für mich nach einem Manne um, der ein geschickter Saitenspieler ist, und bringt ihn mir her!

And he said Saul to servants his see please for me a person [who] does well to play and you will bring [him] to me.

18 da nahm einer von den Dienern das Wort und sprach: Ich habe da einen Sohn des Bethlehemiten Isai gesehen, der ist des Saitenspiels kundig, ein tüchtiger Mann und kriegsgeübt, dazu des Wortes mächtig und ein Mann von schöner Gestalt, und Jahwe ist mit ihm!

And he answered one from the young men and he said here! I have seen a son of Jesse [the] Beth-lehemite [who] knows to play and a mighty [man] of strength and a man of war and [one] discerning of word and a man of form and Yahweh [is] with him.

19 Da schickte Saul Boten an Isai und ließ ihm sagen: Schicke mir deinen Sohn David, der bei den Schafen ist!

And he sent Saul messengers to Jesse and he said send! to me David son your who [is] with the flock.

20 Da nahm Isai zehn Brotlaibe, einen Schlauch Wein und ein Ziegenböckchen und schickte es durch seinen Sohn David an Saul.

And he took Jesse a donkey bread and a skin-bottle of wine and a kid of goats one and he sent [them] by [the] hand of David son his to Saul.

21 Als nun David zu Saul kam und bei ihm Dienste tat, gewann er ihn sehr lieb, sodaß er sein Eaffenträger wurde.

And he came David to Saul and he stood before him and he loved him exceedingly and he was of him bearer of armor.

22 Da schickte Saul zu Isai und ließ ihm sagen: Laß doch David in meinen Dienst treten, denn er gefällt mir wohl!

And he sent Saul to Jesse saying let him stand please David before me for he has found favor in eyes my.

23 So oft hernach der Gottesgeist über Saul kam, griff David zur Zither und spielte: da wurde es Saul leichter und besser, und der böse Geist zog sich von ihm zurück.

And it was when was a spirit of God to Saul and he took David the harp and he played with hand his and it was relief to Saul and good [belonged] to him and it departed from on him [the] spirit of evil.
