1 Petrus 3

1 Ebenso die Frauen, unterthan ihren Männer! damit, wenn welche dem Worte nicht glauben, sie durch den Wandel der Frauen ohne Wort gewonnen werden,

Likewise, all of you wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; that, if any obey not the word, (logos) they also may without the word (logos) be won by the conversation of the wives;

2 euren in Furcht keuschen Wandel wahrnehmend.

While they behold your chaste conversation coupled with (rhema) fear.

3 Ihr Schmuck sei nicht der äußerliche mit Haarflechten, Anlegen goldenen Geschmeides, Kleideranziehen,

Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of braiding the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel;

4 sondern der verborgene Mensch des Herzens mit dem unvergänglichen Wesen des sanften und stillen Geistes, der vor Gott kostbar ist.

But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, (pneuma) which is in the sight of God of great price.

5 Denn so schmückten sich einst auch die heiligen Frauen die auf Gott hofften, unterthan ihren Männern

For after this manner in the old time the holy women also, who trusted in God, adorned themselves, being in subjection unto their own husbands:

6 wie Sara dem Abraham gehorchte, da sie ihn Herr nannte; ihre Kinder seid ihr geworden, wenn ihr Gutes thut, und keinen Schrecken fürchtet.

Even as Sara obeyed Abraham, calling him lord: whose daughters all of you are, as long as all of you do well, and are not afraid with any amazement.

7 Die Männer ebenso, einsichtsvoll die Ehe führend, dem weiblichen als dem schwächeren Gefäß Rücksicht zollend, als die auch Miterben der Gnade des Lebens sind, auf daß eure Gebete nicht gestört werden.

Likewise, all of you husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered.

8 Endlich aber seid alle eines Sinnes, in Mitgefühl und Bruderliebe, barmherzig und demütig,

Finally, be all of you all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous:

9 nicht Böses vergeltend mit Bösem und Schmähung mit Schmähung, sondern im Gegenteil segnend, denn dazu seid ihr berufen, damit ihr Segen ererbet.

Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but contrariwise blessing; knowing that all of you are thereunto called, that all of you should inherit a blessing.

10 Denn wer Freude am Leben haben und gute Tage sehen will, der soll seine Zunge wahren vor dem Bösen und seine Lippen vor Trugreden,

For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile:

11 er lasse ab vom Bösen und thue Gutes, suche Frieden und trachte ihm nach.

Let him shun evil, and do good; let him seek peace, and pursue it.

12 Denn die Augen des Herrn sind bei den Gerechten, und seine Ohren bei ihren Bitten, das Angesicht des Herrn aber ist gegen die, die Böses thun.

For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil.

13 Und wer wird euch schädigen, wenn ihr Eiferer für das Gute werdet?

And who is he that will harm you, if all of you be followers of that which is good?

14 Aber wenn ihr auch leiden solltet um der Gerechtigkeit willen - selig seid ihr; lasset euch nicht von der Furcht vor ihnen einnehmen, noch beunruhigen.

But and if all of you suffer for righteousness' sake, happy are all of you: and be not afraid of their terror, neither be troubled;

15 Den Herrn, den Christus heiligt in euren Herzen, allezeit bereit zur Verantwortung gegen jeden, der von euch Rechenschaft fordert über die Hoffnung, die bei euch zu Hause ist,

But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asks you a reason (logos) of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:

16 aber mit Sanftmut und Furcht; im Besitze eines guten Gewissens, damit, wo ihr verleumdet werdet, beschämt werden, die euren guten Wandel in Christus schmähen.

Having a good conscience; that, whereas they speak evil of you, as of evildoers, they may be ashamed that falsely accuse your good conversation in Christ.

17 Denn es ist besser, mit Gutesthun, wenn es Gottes Wille wäre, zu leiden, als mit Bösesthun.

For it is better, if the will of God be so, that all of you suffer for well doing, than for evil doing.

18 Ist ja auch Christus einmal gestorben, um der Sünden willen, der Gerechte für die Ungerechten, damit er uns zu Gott führe, getötet nach dem Fleische, lebendig gemacht nach dem Geist,

For Christ also has once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit: (pneuma)

19 worin er auch hingieng und verkündigte den Geistern im Gefängnis,

By which also he went and preached unto the spirits (pneuma) in prison;

20 die einst ungehorsam gewesen, als die Langmut Gottes zuwartete, in den Tagen Noahs, da der Kasten hergestellt wurde, in welchen wenige nämlich acht Seelen gerettet wurden durch Wasser,

Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water.

21 wovon das Widerbild die Taufe auch euch jetzt errettet, nicht als Abthun des Schmutzes am Fleisch, sondern als Gottesanrufen mit gutem Gewissen durch die Auferstehung Jesus Christus',

The like figure unto which even baptism does also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God, ) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:

22 der da ist zur Rechten Gottes hingegangen in den Himmel, da ihm Engel unterthan wurden und Mächte und Gewalten.

Who is gone into heaven, and is on the right hand of God; angels and authorities and powers being made subject unto him.
