1 Korinther 4

1 So also soll man uns ansehen, als Diener Christus' und Verwalter der Geheimnisse Gottes.

Let a man so account of us, as of the ministers of Christ, and stewards of the mysteries of God.

2 Von den Haushaltern wird allerdings verlangt, daß einer treu erfunden werde.

Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.

3 Doch ist es mir ein geringes, von euch oder von irgend einem menschlichen Gerichtstag ins Verhör genommen zu werden, ich stelle es nicht einmal mit mir selbst an;

But with me it is a very small thing that I should be judged of you, or of man's judgment: yea, I judge not mine own self.

4 denn ob ich mir auch nichts bewußt bin, so bin ich darum noch nicht gerechtfertigt; der mit mir ins Verhör geht, ist der Herr.

For I know nothing by myself; yet am I not hereby justified: but he that judges me is the Lord.

5 So richtet denn ihr nicht vor der Zeit, ehe der Herr kommt, der auch, was in der Finsternis verborgen ist, ins Licht stellen und die Ratschläge der Herzen offenbaren wird; dann wird jedem sein Lob von Gott werden.

Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord come, who both will bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and will make manifest the counsels of the hearts: and then shall every man have praise of God.

6 Ich habe das auf mich und Apollos bezogen, um euretwillen, Brüder, damit ihr an uns lernet das: nicht hoch hinaus, über das, was geschrieben steht, damit sich keiner aufblähe, je für den einen und gegen den andern.

And these things, brethren, I have in a figure transferred to myself and to Apollos for your sakes; that all of you might learn in us not to think of men above that which is written, that no one of you be puffed up for one against another.

7 Wer gibt dir den Vorzug? Was hast du, das du nicht empfangen hast? hast du es aber empfangen, was rühmst du dich, als hättest du nicht empfangen?

For who makes you to differ from another? and what have you that you did not receive? now if you did receive it, why do you glory, as if you had not received it?

8 Seid ihr schon satt, seid ihr schon reich geworden, habt ihr es ohne uns zum Herrschen gebracht? ja hättet ihr es doch, daß auch wir mit euch herrschen könnten.

Now all of you are full, now all of you are rich, all of you have reigned as kings without us: and I would to God all of you did reign, that we also might reign with you.

9 Denn mich dünkt, uns Apostel hat Gott als die letzten hingestellt, als wie zum Tod bestimmt; so sind wir ein Schauspiel geworden für Welt, Engel und Menschen.

For I think that God has set forth us the apostles last, as it were appointed to death: for we are made a spectacle unto the world, and to angels, and to men.

10 Wir sind Thoren um Christus willen, ihr seid klug in Christus. Wir schwach, ihr stark, Ihr im Ruhm, wir in Schande.

We are fools for Christ's sake, but all of you are wise in Christ; we are weak, but all of you are strong; all of you are honourable, but we are despised.

11 Bis zu dieser Stunde dürfen wir hungern und dürsten, in Blöße wandern und Schläge hinnehmen, ohne Heimat,

Even unto this present hour we both hunger, and thirst, and are naked, and are buffeted, and have no certain dwelling place;

12 uns plagen mit unserer Hände Arbeit. Wir werden geschmäht und segnen; wir werden verfolgt und dulden,

And labour, working with our own hands: being reviled, we bless; being persecuted, we suffer it:

13 wir werden verleumdet und trösten. Wie der Kehricht auf der Welt, wie der allgemeine Auswurf sind wir geworden bis daher.

Being defamed, we implore: we are made as the filth of the world, and are the waste of all things unto this day.

14 Nicht euch zu beschämen schreibe ich das, sondern euch zu ermahnen als meine geliebten Kinder.

I write not these things to shame you, but as my beloved sons I warn you.

15 Wenn ihr auch zehntausend Hofmeister in Christus hättet, so habt ihr doch nicht mehrere Väter; gezeugt habe ich euch in Christus Jesus durch das Evangelium.

For though all of you have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet have all of you not many fathers: for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel.

16 So mahne ich euch denn: nehmet mich zum Vorbild.

Wherefore I plead to you, be all of you followers of me.

17 Eben darum habe ich den Timotheus zu euch geschickt, der mein geliebtes und treues Kind ist im Herrn, der soll euch erinnern an meine Regeln in Christus, wie ich sie allenthalben in jeder Gemeinde lehre.

For this cause have I sent unto you Timotheus, who is my beloved son, and faithful in the Lord, who shall bring you into remembrance of my ways which be in Christ, as I teach every where in every church.

18 Daraufhin daß ich nicht zu euch komme, haben sich etliche aufgebläht;

Now some are puffed up, as though I would not come to you.

19 aber ich werde bald zu euch kommen, wenn es des Herrn Wille ist, und ich werde fragen nicht danach, was die Aufgeblähten sagen, sondern nach ihrer Kraft.

But I will come to you shortly, if the Lord will, and will know, not the speech (logos) of them which are puffed up, but the power.

20 Denn nicht in Worten steht das Reich Gottes, sondern in Kraft.

For the kingdom of God is not in word, (logos) but in power.

21 Was wollt ihr? soll ich mit dem Stocke zu euch kommen, oder mit der Liebe und dem Geiste der Milde?

What will all of you? shall I come unto you with a rod, or in love, (agape) and in the spirit (pneuma) of meekness?
