Roemers 2
1 Darum bist du unentschuldbar, Mensch, und magst du sein, wer du willst, im Falle du richten wolltest. Dadurch, daß du den Nächsten richtest, verurteilst du dich ja selbst; denn du, der du den Richter spielst, treibst ja genau dasselbe.
Therefore thou art inexcusable, O man, whosoever thou art that judgest: for wherein thou judgest another, thou condemnest thyself; for thou that judgest doest the same things.
2 Wir wissen aber, daß das göttliche Gericht ohne Ansehen der Person ergeht über die, die solches treiben.
But we are sure that the judgment of God is according to truth against them which commit such things.
3 Meinst du denn wirklich, Mensch, der du die richtest, die solches treiben, und trotzdem dasselbe tust, gerade du würdest dem göttlichen Gericht entrinnen?
And thinkest thou this, O man, that judgest them which do such things, and doest the same, that thou shalt escape the judgment of God?
4 Oder denkst du vermessen von seiner überreichen Güte, seiner Geduld und Nachsicht? Weißt du wirklich nicht, daß dich die Güte Gottes nur zur Bekehrung führen will?
Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?
5 Mit deinem Starrsinn aber und deinem unbußfertigen Herzen häufst du dir Zorn auf für den Tag des Zornes und der Offenbarung des Gerichtes von seiten des gerechten Gottes,
But after thy hardness and impenitent heart treasurest up unto thyself wrath against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God;
6 "der einem jeden vergelten wird nach seinen Werken":
Who will render to every man according to his deeds:
7 Ein ewiges Leben denen, die durch Beharrlichkeit im Guten Verherrlichung, Ehre und Unvergänglichkeit erstreben; (aiōnios g166)
To them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life: (aiōnios g166)
8 dagegen Zorn und Grimm für die, die widerspenstig sind, die sich der Wahrheit nicht beugen, der Ungerechtigkeit dagegen folgen.
But unto them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath,
9 Trübsal und Angst über die Seele eines jeden Menschen, die böse Werke tut; vor allem über den Juden, jedoch auch über den Heiden.
Tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile;
10 Verherrlichung, Ehre und Friede aber einem jeden, der gute Werke tut, vor allem dem Juden, jedoch auch dem Heiden.
But glory, honour, and peace, to every man that worketh good, to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile:
11 Denn es gibt kein Ansehen der Person bei Gott.
For there is no respect of persons with God.
12 Alle, die ohne Gesetz gesündigt haben, werden verlorengehen ohne Gesetz; die aber gesündigt haben unter dem Gesetze, werden durch das Gesetz gerichtet werden.
For as many as have sinned without law shall also perish without law: and as many as have sinned in the law shall be judged by the law;
13 Denn nicht die Hörer des Gesetzes sind gerecht vor Gott; nur wer das Gesetz auch gehalten hat, wird für gerecht erklärt.
(For not the hearers of the law [are] just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified.
14 Wenn so zum Beispiel Heiden, die das Gesetz nicht haben, aus Antrieb der Natur die Forderungen des Gesetzes erfüllen, so sind sie, ohne das Gesetz zu haben, sich selbst Gesetz.
For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves:
15 Denn sie beweisen, daß der Kern des Gesetzes in ihr Herz eingezeichnet ist. Zeuge dafür ist ihnen ihr Gewissen: die Gedanken, mit denen sie sich gegenseitig anklagen oder auch verteidigen
Which shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and [their] thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another; )
16 am Tage, da Gott das heimliche Tun der Menschen richten wird meinem Evangelium entsprechend durch Jesus Christus.
In the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to my gospel.
17 Wenn du dich einen Juden heißen lässest, der sich auf das Gesetz versteift, und dich rühmst in Gott -
Behold, thou art called a Jew, and restest in the law, and makest thy boast of God,
18 du kennst ja seinen Willen, und als treuer Schüler des Gesetzes weißt du ganz genau, worauf es ankommt.
And knowest [his] will, and approvest the things that are more excellent, being instructed out of the law;
19 Du traust dir zu, Führer zu sein für Blinde, Licht für die, die im Finstern sind,
And art confident that thou thyself art a guide of the blind, a light of them which are in darkness,
20 ein Erzieher der Unverständigen, Lehrer der Unmündigen, der im Gesetz die Verkörperung des Wissens und der Wahrheit hat. -
An instructor of the foolish, a teacher of babes, which hast the form of knowledge and of the truth in the law.
21 Du zwar belehrst andere, dich selber aber lehrst du nicht? Du predigst, man dürfe nicht stehlen, und stiehlst doch selber?
Thou therefore which teachest another, teachest thou not thyself? thou that preachest a man should not steal, dost thou steal?
22 Du sagst, man dürfe nicht die Ehe brechen, und brichst doch selbst die Ehe? Du verabscheust wohl die Götzenbilder, verübst selber aber Tempelraub?
Thou that sayest a man should not commit adultery, dost thou commit adultery? thou that abhorrest idols, dost thou commit sacrilege?
23 Du rühmst dich des Gesetzes, entehrst aber Gott durch deine Übertretung des Gesetzes?
Thou that makest thy boast of the law, through breaking the law dishonourest thou God?
24 Denn "durch eure Schuld wird der Name Gottes gelästert von den Heiden", heißt es in der Schrift.
For the name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles through you, as it is written.
25 Nur dann ist die Beschneidung nämlich etwas wert, wenn du das Gesetz beachtest. Doch übertrittst du immer wieder das Gesetz, dann ist deine Beschneidung zur Vorhaut geworden.
For circumcision verily profiteth, if thou keep the law: but if thou be a breaker of the law, thy circumcision is made uncircumcision.
26 Wenn dagegen die Vorhaut die Rechtsforderungen des Gesetzes hält, wird ihr dann die Vorhaut nicht als Beschneidung angerechnet werden?
Therefore if the uncircumcision keep the righteousness of the law, shall not his uncircumcision be counted for circumcision?
27 Ja, die von Natur aus unbeschnitten sind, die aber das Gesetz erfüllen, werden dich verdammen, der du trotz Gesetzesvorschriften und Beschneidung dich gegen das Gesetz verfehlst.
And shall not uncircumcision which is by nature, if it fulfil the law, judge thee, who by the letter and circumcision dost transgress the law?
28 Denn ein wahrer Jude ist nicht der, der es nur nach außenhin ist, und nicht das ist die wahre Beschneidung, die äußerlich am Fleische vorhanden ist;
For he is not a Jew, which is one outwardly; neither [is that] circumcision, which is outward in the flesh:
29 nein, der nur ist ein Jude, der es im Innern ist, und eine richtige Beschneidung ist nur die des Herzens, dem Geiste nach, und nicht nur nach den Gesetzesvorschriften. Ein solcher freilich findet bei Menschen keine Anerkennung, sondern nur bei Gott.
But he [is] a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision [is that] of the heart, in the spirit, [and] not in the letter; whose praise [is] not of men, but of God.
