Psalm 97
1 Der Herr ist König. Erde freue dich! Und fröhlich sei'n die Inseln, soviel ihrer sind!
Yahweh, hath become king, Let the earth exult, Let the multitude of coastlands rejoice.
2 Gewölk und Dunkel um ihn her; und seines Thrones Stütze ist Gerechtigkeit und Recht.
Clouds and thick darkness, are round about him, Righteousness and justice, are the establishing of his throne.
3 Auflodere vor ihm ein Feuer und senge ringsum seine Feinde!
Fire, before him, proceedeth, That it may consume, round about, his adversaries.
4 Die Welt erhellen sollen seine Blitze; die Erde schaue es und zittere!
His lightnings, have illumined, the world, The earth, hath seen, and hath trembled;
5 Die Berge schmelzen vor dem Herrn wie Wachs, vor ihm, dem Herrn der ganzen Erde!
The mountains, like wax, have melted, At the presence of Yahweh, At the presence, of the Lord of all the earth.
6 Die Himmel sollen künden seinen Sieg; die Völker alle schauen seinen Ruhm!
The heavens, have declared, his righteousness, —And all the peoples, have seen, his glory.
7 Zuschanden sollen werden alle Bildanbeter, die stolz auf Götzen sind; hinsinken sollen in den Staub vor ihm die Götter alle!
Let all who serve an image, be ashamed, They who boast themselves in things of nought, Bow down unto him, all ye gods.
8 Mit Freuden hör es Sion, und Judas Töchter sollen jubeln ob Deiner Strafgerichte, Herr!
Zion, hath heard and rejoiced, And the daughters of Judah, have exulted, Because of thy righteous decisions, O Yahweh:
9 Für alle Welt bist Du der Höchste, Herr, hoch erhaben über alle Götter.
For, thou, Yahweh, art Most High over all the earth, Greatly hast thou exalted thyself above all gods.
10 Die ihr den Herren liebet, haßt das Böse! Er schirmt die Seelen seiner Frommen und reißt sie aus der Bösen Hand.
Ye lovers of Yahweh! be haters of wrong, —He preserveth the lives of his men of lovingkindness, From the hand of the lawless, will he rescue them.
11 Den Frommen wird ein Licht bereitet und Freude denen, die geraden Herzens.
Light, is sown for the righteous one, And, for the upright in heart, rejoicing:
12 Ihr Frommen, freut euch an dem Herrn! Preist seinen heiligen Namen!
Rejoice, ye righteous, in Yahweh, And give ye thanks, at the mention of his holiness.
