Psalm 138

1 Von David. - Dich preise ich von ganzem Herzen; begeistert singe ich Dir zu.

A Psalm for David, of Aggaeus and Zacharias. I will give you thanks, O Lord, with my whole heart; and I will sing psalms to you before the angels; for you have heard all the words of my mouth.

2 In Deinem heiligen Tempel werfe ich mich nieder und preise Deinen Namen hoch für Deine Huld und Treue. Denn über allen Deinen Ruhm hinaus hast Du Dein Wort verherrlicht.

I will worship towards your holy temple, and give thanks to your name, on account of your mercy and your truth; for you have magnified your holy name above every thing.

3 Sooft ich zu Dir rufe, hörst Du mich, und so entlockst Du mir die kühnsten Wünsche.

In whatever day I shall call upon you, hear me speedily; you shall abundantly provide me with your power in my soul.

4 Dich preisen alle Erdenkönige, wenn Deines Mundes Worte sie vernehmen. -

Let all the kings of the earth, o Lord, give thanks to you; for they have heard all the words of your mouth.

5 Sie singen von des Herren Wegen; der Ruhm des Herrn ist groß.

And let them sing in the ways of the Lord; for great is the glory of the Lord.

6 Denn hoch erhaben ist der Herr und blickt doch auf das Niedrige, und ist er noch so hoch, so nimmt er doch aus weiter Ferne wahr. -

For the Lord is high, and [yet] regards the lowly; and he knows high things from afar off.

7 Und wandle ich auch mitten in der Not, erhältst Du dennoch mich am Leben; zu meiner Feinde Zorn streckst Deine Hand Du aus und hilfst mir so mit Deiner Rechten.

Though I should walk in the midst of affliction, you will quicken me; you have stretched forth your hands against the wrath of mine enemies, and your right hand has saved me.

8 Der Herr vollführt's für mich. Herr! Ewig währet Deine Huld. Laß nicht von Deiner Hände Werk!

O Lord, you shall recompense [them] on my behalf: your mercy, O Lord, [endures] for ever: overlook not the works of your hands.
