Psalm 116

1 Weil auf mein Rufen hört der Herr, hab ich die Stunden meiner Andacht lieb;

I love Yahweh—because he heareth my voice, my supplications;

2 er neigt sein Ohr zu mir, sooft ich rufe.

Because he hath bowed down his ear unto me, therefore, throughout my days, will I call.

3 Umfangen mich des Todes Bande, und überkommt mich Höllenangst, und komme ich in Not und Jammer, (Sheol h7585)

The meshes of death encompassed me, and the distresses of hades, came upon me, Peril and sorrow, I found; (Sheol h7585)

4 dann rufe ich des Herren Namen an; "Ach, rette, Herr, mein Leben!"

But, on the Name of Yahweh, I called—I beseech thee, Yahweh, deliver my soul.

5 Der Herr ist gnädig und ist mild; erbarmungsvoll ist unser Gott.

Gracious is Yahweh and righteous, and, our God, is full of compassion.

6 Einfältige beschützt der Herr; bin ich unwürdig schon, so hilft er dennoch mir.

Yahweh, preserveth the simple, I was brought low, when, to me, he granted salvation.

7 Zu deiner Ruhestätte, meine Seele, wende dich! Der Herr tut dir ja Gutes unverdient.

Return, O my soul, to thy rest, For, Yahweh, hath dealt bountifully with thee.

8 Du wahrst mein Leben vor dem Tode, mein Auge vor den Tränen und meine Füße vor dem Straucheln.

For thou hast rescued my soul from death, —mine eyes from tears, my feet from stumbling.

9 So kann ich wandeln vor dem Herrn im Lande der Lebendigen.

I will walk to and fro before Yahweh, in the lands of life.

10 Ich kann's bestätigen, was ich jetzt sage: Ich war so tief gebeugt.

I believed that I should speak, I, was greatly depressed.

11 Ich sprach in meiner Angst: "Die Menschenkinder trügen all."

I, said in mine alarm, All men, are false!

12 Wie kann ich jetzt dem Herrn vergelten all das, was er an mir getan?

How shall I give back to Yahweh, All his benefits unto me?

13 Des Heiles Kelch ergreife ich; des Herren Ruhm verkünde ich. -

The cup of salvation, will I lift, and, on the Name of Yahweh, will I call:

14 Was ich dem Herrn gelobt, das löse ich jetzt ein vor seinem ganzen Volke.

My vows—to Yahweh, will I pay, Might it be in presence of all his people!

15 Bedeutungsvoll ist in des Herren Augen, wenn's um das Sterben seiner Frommen geht. -

Costly in the eyes of Yahweh, is, death, for his men of lovingkindness.

16 Ach, Herr, ich bin Dein Knecht; ich bin Dein Knecht, von Deiner Magd geboren. Wenn Du jetzt meine Bande lösest,

I beseech thee, O Yahweh—for, I, am thy servant, —I, am thy servant, the son of thy handmaid, Thou hast loosened my bonds.

17 dann bringe ich Dir Dankesopfer dar und künde so des Herren Ruhm. -

To thee, will I sacrifice a sacrifice of thanksgiving, and, on the Name of Yahweh, will I call:

18 Was ich dem Herrn gelobt, das löse ich jetzt ein vor seinem ganzen Volke,

My vows—to Yahweh, will I pay, Might it be in the presence of all his people; —

19 im Haus des Herrn in seinen Höfen, Jerusalem, in deiner Mitte. Alleluja!

In the courts of the house of Yahweh, In the midst of thee, O Jerusalem. Praise ye Yah!
