Psalm 112

1 Alleluja! Wie selig, wer den Herren fürchtet und freudig tut, was er gebeut!

Praise Yahweh! (Happy are/He is pleased with) those who revere him, those who happily obey his commands.

2 Sein Stamm ist mächtig auf der Erde; gesegnet ist der Redlichen Geschlecht.

Their children will prosper in their land; and their descendants will be blessed [by God].

3 In seinem Haus ist Pracht und Fülle, und seine Milde währet immerdar.

Their families [MTY] will be very wealthy [DOU], and [the results of] their righteous deeds will endure forever.

4 Er strahlt den Frommen auf, ein Licht im Dunkel, barmherzig, mild und liebevoll ist er.

Godly/Righteous people are [like] lights [SIM] that shine in the darkness on those who are kind, merciful and righteous.

5 Wohl geht's dem Mann, der schenkt und leiht, der hierfür seinen Haushalt nach Gebühr einrichtet.

Things [will] go well for those who generously lend money to others and who conduct their businesses honestly.

6 Er wankt auf ewig nicht; in ewigem Gedächtnis bleibt er als Gerechter.

Righteous people will not be overwhelmed/worried/distressed [because of their troubles], and they will never be forgotten [by other people].

7 Vor Unheilsboten bebt er nicht; sein Herz ist unverzagt, dem Herrn vertrauend.

They are not afraid of [receiving] bad news; they confidently/completely trust in Yahweh.

8 Sein Herz ist fest und ohne Furcht; er schaut sogar an seinen Feinden seine Lust.

They are confident and not afraid, because they know that they will see [God defeat] their enemies.

9 Freigebig ist er, schenkt den Armen, und alle Zeit währt seine Milde; durch sein Vermögen ragt er hoch empor.

They give things generously to poor/needy [people]; [the results of] their kind deeds will endure forever, and they [will] be exalted and honored.

10 Der Frevler sieht's und ärgert sich, und zähneknirschend schwindet er dahin; der Bösen Reiz vergeht.

Wicked people see those things and are angry; they gnash their teeth [angrily], but they [will] disappear [and die]. The [wicked] things that they want to do [will] never happen.
