4 Mose 16
1 Da erfrechte sich Korach, Ishars Sohn, der Enkel des Levisohnes Kehat, mit den Rubeniten Datan und Abiram, Eliabs Söhnen, und mit On, Pelets Sohn.
Then took Korah, son of Izhar son of Kohath son of Levi, —and Dathan and Abiram sons of Eliab, and On, son of Peleth sons of Reuben;
2 Und sie traten vor Moses hin, ebenso 250 Männer von den anderen Israeliten, Gemeindevorsteher, Ratsherren und Vornehme.
and rose up before Moses, with certain men of the sons of Israel, two hundred and fifty, —princes of assembly, called to the stated meeting, men of renown;
3 So scharten sie sich gegen Moses und Aaron zusammen und sprachen zu ihnen: "Genug mit euch! Denn die Gesamtgemeinde, alle miteinander, sind heilig, und in ihrer Mitte ist der Herr. Warum erhebt ihr euch über des Herrn Gemeinde?"
and gathered themselves together against Moses and against Aaron and said unto them Too much for you, when, all the assembly, are, all of them, holy, and in the midst of them, is Yahweh, —Wherefore, then, should ye set yourselves up, above the convocation of Yahweh?
4 Als Moses es hörte, fiel er auf sein Angesicht.
And, when Moses heard it, he fell upon his face.
5 Dann sprach er zu Korach und seiner ganzen Rotte: "Der Herr tut morgen kund, wer sein ist und wer geweiht und wer mit ihm verkehren darf, wer ihm genehm, daß er ihn mit sich verkehren läßt.
Then spake he unto Korah, and unto all his assembly, saying, In the morning, will Yahweh make known who are his, and who is the holy one and will cause him to come near unto himself, —yea him whom he shall choose, will he cause to come near unto himself.
6 Tut dies: Nehmet euch Räucherpfannen, Korach und seine ganze Rotte,
This do, —Take to you censers, Korah and all his assembly;
7 tut Feuer darein und legt darauf morgen vor dem Herrn Räucherwerk! Zu wem sich der Herr bekennt, der ist geweiht. Ihr Levisöhne, dies genüge euch!"
and place therein fire, and put thereon incense before Yahweh, to-morrow, So shall it be—that, the man whom Yahweh shall choose, he shall be the holy one. Too much for you ye sons of Levi!
8 Und Moses sprach zu Korach: "Hört dies, ihr Levisöhne!
And Moses said unto Korah, —Hear, I pray you, ye sons of Levi!
9 Ist es euch zu wenig, daß euch Israels Gott aus der israelitischen Gemeinde ausgesondert hat, daß ihr mit ihm verkehren dürft, um an des Herrn Wohnung Dienst zu tun und vor der Gemeinde mit ihrem Dienst zu stehen?
Is it too small a thing for you that the God of Israel hath separated you from the assembly of Israel, to bring you near unto himself, —to do the laborious work of the habitation of Yahweh, and to stand before the assembly, to wait upon them?
10 Dich ließ er mit sich verkehren und mit dir alle deine Brüder, Levis Söhne, und nun verlangt ihr auch Priesterrechte?
But having brought thee near, and all thy brethren the sons of Levi with thee, must ye seek priesthood also?
11 Darum rottest du dich mit deiner Rotte gegen den Herrn zusammen. Was ist denn Aaron, daß ihr über ihn murret?"
Wherefore thou and all thine assembly, are conspiring against Yahweh, —But Aaron, what is he, that ye should murmur against him?
12 Dann sandte Moses und ließ Datan und Abiram, Eliabs Söhne, rufen. Sie aber sprachen: "Wir kommen nicht.
Then sent Moses, to call for Dathan and for Abiram sons of Eliab, —and they said We will not come up:
13 Ist es zu wenig, daß du uns aus einem Land, von Milch und Honig fließend, heraufgeführt, um uns in der Wüste umzubringen, daß du auch noch selbstherrlich über uns herrschen Willst?
Was it, a small thing, that thou didst bring us up out of a land flowing with milk and honey, to put us to death in the desert but thou must, continue even to lord it, over us?
14 Nicht wahr? Du hast uns in ein Land, von Milch und Honig fließend, gebracht, und Feld und Weinberg gabst du uns zu Erbe. Darfst du die Augen dieser Leute blenden? Wir kommen nicht."
Certainly not into a land flowing with milk and honey, hast thou brought us, nor given unto us an inheritance of field and vineyard, —The eyes of those men, wilt thou dig out? We will not come up.
15 Da wurde Moses sehr zornig und sprach zum Herrn: "Kehre Dich nicht an ihr Gerede! Nicht einen Esel habe ich ihnen jemals weggenommen. Nicht einem unter ihnen ein Leid getan!"
Then was Moses very angry, and he said unto Yahweh, Do not thou have respect unto their meal-offering. Not one ass, from them, have I taken, neither have I wronged one of them.
16 Und zu Korach sprach Moses: "Du und deine ganze Rotte sind morgen vor dem Herrn; du, sie und Aaron.
And Moses said unto Korah, Thou, and all thine assembly, come ye before Yahweh, —thou, and they, and Aaron to-morrow.
17 Nehme jeder seine Räucherpfanne mit, tue Räucherwerk darauf und bringe vor den Herrn jeder seine Räucherpfanne, 250 Räucherpfannen, auch du und Aaron, jeder seine Räucherpfanne!"
And take ye each man his censer and put thereon incense, then shall ye bring near before Yahweh, each man his censer, two hundred and fifty Censers, —and, thou and Aaron, each man his censer.
18 Da nahmen sie jeder seine Räucherpfanne, taten Feuer darein, legten Räucherwerk darauf und stellten sich an die Pforte des Festgezeltes, ebenso Moses und Aaron.
So they took each man his censer and put thereon fire, and placed thereon incense, —and took their stand at the entrance of the tent of meeting with Moses and Aaron.
19 Und Korach versammelte die ganze Gemeinde wider sie an der Pforte des Festgezeltes. Da erschien der ganzen Gemeinde die Herrlichkeit des Herrn,
And Korah gathered together against them all the assembly, unto the entrance of the tent of meeting, —then appeared the glory of Yahweh, unto all the assembly.
20 Und der Herr redete mit Moses und Aaron also:
Then spake Yahweh unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying:
21 "Sondert euch von der Gemeinde hier ab, daß ich sie im Nu vertilge!"
Separate yourselves out of the midst of this assembly, —that I may consume them in a moment.
22 Da fielen sie auf ihr Antlitz und sprachen: "Gott, Du Gott des Lebensodems alles Fleisches! Ein Mann sündigt, und Du willst gegen die Gemeinde ohne Ausnahme wüten?"
And they fell upon their faces and said, O GOD, the God of the spirits of all flesh, —shall, one man, sin, and against all the assembly, wilt thou be wroth.
23 Da sprach der Herr zu Moses also:
And Yahweh spake unto Moses, saying,
24 "Sprich so zu der Gemeinde: 'Verzieht euch rings von der Wohnstätte Korachs, Datans und Abirams.'"
Speak unto the assembly, saying, —Get ye up from round about the habitation of Korah, Dathan and Abiram.
25 Da stand Moses auf und ging zu Datan und Abiram; ihm folgten die Ältesten Israels.
So Moses rose up, and went, unto Dathan and Abiram, —then went, after him the elders of Israel.
26 Und er sprach zur Gemeinde: "Weicht von den Zelten dieser schlimmen Männer! Berührt nichts, was ihrer ist, damit ihr nicht, um all ihrer Sünden willen, mit hinweggerafft werdet!"
And he spake unto the assembly, saying—Remove I pray you from beside the tents of these lawless men, and do not touch aught that pertaineth unto them, —lest ye be carried off, in all their sins.
27 So verzogen sie sich rings von der Wohnstätte Korachs, Datans und Abirams. Datan und Abiram aber waren herausgetreten und hatten sich vor ihre Zelttüren gestellt, samt ihren Weibern, großen und kleinen Kindern.
So they went up from beside the habitation of Korah, Dathan and Abiram on every side, —and, Dathan and Abiram, came out and stationed themselves at the entrance of their tents, with their wives and their sons and their little ones.
28 Da sprach Moses: "Daran sollt ihr erkennen, daß der Herr mich gesandt, alle diese Taten zu tun, und daß ich solche nicht von mir aus tue!
Then said Moses, Hereby, shall ye know, that, Yahweh hath sent me, to do all these works, —verily, not out of my own heart:
29 Wenn diese sterben, wie alle Menschen sterben, und ihnen nur das widerfährt, was allen Menschen begegnet, dann hat der Herr mich nicht gesandt.
If, as all human beings die, these do die, and the visitation of all human beings, be visited upon them, Yahweh, hath not sent me.
30 Aber tut der Herr ein Werk, und öffnet die Erde ihren Schlund und verschlingt sie mit allem, was ihrer ist, und fahren sie lebend in die Unterwelt, dann erkennet, daß diese Männer den Herrn gelästert haben!" (Sheol h7585)
But, if, a creation, Yahweh create, and the ground open wide her mouth and swallow them up, with all that pertain unto them, and so they go down alive unto hades, then shall ye know, that these men have despised Yahweh. (Sheol h7585)
31 Wie er nun all diese Reden beendet hatte, spaltete sich der Erdboden unter ihnen,
And it came to pass as he made an end of speaking all these words, that the ground which was under them, clave asunder;
32 und die Erde öffnete ihren Schlund und verschlang sie und ihre Behausungen sowie alle Leute, die Korach gehörten, und alle Habe.
and the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed up them, and their households, —and all the human beings who pertained unto Korah, with all their goods:
33 Und sie fuhren mit all ihrer Habe lebend zur Unterwelt, und die Erde schloß sich über ihnen, und sie verschwanden aus der Gemeinde. (Sheol h7585)
so, they, and all that pertained unto them, went down, alive unto hades, —and the earth, closed upon them, and they perished out of the midst of the convocation. (Sheol h7585)
34 Ganz Israel aber, das sie rings umstand, war eilends geflohen; denn sie sagten: "Die Erde könnte auch uns verschlingen."
And, all Israel who were round about them, fled at their cry, —for they said, Lest the earth swallow us up.
35 Ein Feuer war nämlich vom Herrn ausgegangen und fraß die 250 Männer, die das Räucherwerk gebracht hatten.
Fire also came forth, from Yahweh, —and consumed the two hundred and fifty men, who offered the incense.
36 Und der Herr sprach zu Moses:
Then spake Yahweh unto Moses, saying:
37 "Sprich zum Aaronsohn, dem Priester Eleazar, er soll die Räucherpfannen von der Brandstatt nehmen und das Feuer von da zerstreuen!
Say unto Eleazar, son of Aaron the priest, that he take up the censers out of the midst of the burning, and the fire, scatter thou yonder, —for they have been hallowed.
38 Weil die Frevler diese Räucherpfannen mit dem Verlust ihres Lebens geheiligt, so mache man aus ihnen Bleche und überziehe damit den Altar! Sie hatten sie ja vor den Herrn gebracht, und so heiligten sie sie. Sie seien den Söhnen Israels ein Wahrzeichen!"
As for the censers of these sinners against their own persons, they shall be made into beaten-out plates as an overlay for the altar, for they had brought them near before Yahweh and hallowed them, —so shall they become a sign unto the sons of Israel.
39 Da nahm der Priester Eleazar die kupfernen Räucherpfannen, die die Verbrannten hergebracht hatten, und man schlug sie breit zu einem Altarüberzug,
And Eleazar the priest took the censers of bronze, which the consumed men had brought near, —and beat them out into plates for overlaying the altar:
40 ein Merkzeichen für die Israeliten, daß kein Unbefugter, der nicht zu Aarons Nachkommen gehört, das Recht hat, vor dem Herrn Räucherwerk darzubringen. Sonst geht es ihm wie Korach und seiner Rotte, wie ihm der Herr durch Moses angedroht hatte.
a memorial unto the sons of Israel, That no stranger, who is not of the seed of Aaron, shall draw near to offer incense before Yahweh, —lest he become like Korah and like his assembly, As spake Yahweh by the hand of Moses with regard thereto.
41 Da murrte die ganze israelitische Gemeinde am anderen Morgen wider Moses und Aaron und sagte: "Ihr habt das Volk des Herrn bestürzt gemacht."
And all the assembly of the sons of Israel murmured, on the morrow, against Moses and against, Aaron, saying, —Ye, have caused the death of the people of Yahweh.
42 Als sich nun die Gemeinde gegen Moses und Aaron zusammenrottete, wandten sich diese nach dem Festgezelt. Und schon hatte es die Wolke bedeckt. Da erschien die Herrlichkeit des Herrn.
And it came to pass, when the assembly gathered themselves together against Moses and against Aaron, that they turned towards the tent of meeting, and lo! the cloud had covered it: and the glory of Yahweh, appeared.
43 Moses und Aaron betraten das Festgezelt.
And Moses and Aaron came in, before the tent of meeting.
44 Und der Herr sprach zu Moses:
Then spake Yahweh unto Moses, saying:
45 "Hebt euch weg aus der Gemeinde hier, daß ich sie im Nu vertilge!" Da fielen sie auf ihr Antlitz.
Lift yourselves up out of the midst of this assembly, that I may consume them, as in a moment, —And they fell upon their faces.
46 Und Moses sprach zu Aaron: "Nimm die Räucherpfanne, tu vom Altar Feuer darein, lege Räucherwerk darauf und trag es schleunigst in die Gemeinde und schaff ihnen Sühne! Denn schon geht vom Herrn der Grimm ans. Die Pest hat begonnen."
Then said Moses unto Aaron—Take the censer and place thereon fire, from off the altar, and put incense [thereon], and, going quickly into the assembly, put a propitiatory-covering over them, —for wrath hath gone forth from before Yahweh the plague, hath begun.
47 Da nahm es Aaron, wie Moses gesagt, und lief mitten unter die Gemeinde. Schon aber hatte die Pest unter dem Volke begonnen. Da räucherte er und schaffte dem Volk Sühne.
Then took Aaron, as Moses spake, and ran into the midst of the convocation, and lo! the plague had begun among the people, —so he placed the incense, and put a propitiatory-covering over the people:
48 Also stellte er sich zwischen die Toten und die Lebenden, und der Pest ward Einhalt getan.
thus did he take his stand between the dead and the living, —and the plague was restrained.
49 Aber der Pestleichen waren es 14.700, außer den um Korachs willen Umgekommenen.
And so it was that they who died in the plague were fourteen thousand and seven hundred, —besides them who died over the matter of Korah.
50 Aaron kehrte nun zu Moses an die Pforte des Festgezeltes zurück; der Pest war nämlich Einhalt getan worden.
And Aaron returned unto Moses, unto the entrance of the tent of meeting, —when, the plague, had been restrained.
