Lukas 2
1 In jenen Tagen erging ein Erlaß des Kaisers Augustus, das ganze Land sei aufzunehmen.
Now in those days, a decree went out from Caesar [Ruler] Augustus [Revered, Esteemed, Venerable] that all the world should be enrolled.
2 Dies war die erste Aufzeichnung, die unter dem Statthalter von Syrien, Cyrinus, stattfand.
This was the first enrollment made when Quirinius was governor of Syria [Elevated].
3 Da gingen alle hin, sich eintragen zu lassen, ein jeglicher in seinen Heimatort.
All went to enroll themselves, everyone to his own city.
4 Auch Joseph reiste von Galiläa aus der Stadt Nazareth nach Judäa zur Davidstadt mit Namen Bethlehem, um sich eintragen zu lassen, weil er aus dem Hause und Geschlechte Davids war.
Joseph [May he add] also went up from Galilee [District, Circuit], out of the city of Nazareth [Branch, Separated one], into Judea [Praise], to David [Beloved]’s city, which is called Bethlehem [House of Bread], because he was of the house and family of David [Beloved];
5 Mit ihm ging Maria, sein anverlobtes Weib, das guter Hoffnung war.
to enroll himself with Mary [Rebellion], who was pledged to be married to him as wife, being pregnant.
6 Während sie dort verweilten, kam für sie die Zeit der Niederkunft.
While they were there, the day had come for her to give birth.
7 Und sie gebar ihren erstgeborenen Sohn; sie wickelte ihn in Windeln und legte ihn in eine Krippe, weil sich in der Herberge sonst kein Platz für sie fand.
She gave birth to her firstborn son. She wrapped him in bands of cloth, and laid him in a feeding trough, because there was no room for them in the inn.
8 In derselben Gegend waren Hirten auf dem freien Felde; sie hielten nachts Wache bei ihrer Herde.
There were shepherds in the same country staying in the field, and keeping watch by night over their flock.
9 Da stand der Engel des Herrn vor ihnen, und die Herrlichkeit des Herrn umleuchtete sie. Und sie gerieten in übergroße Furcht.
Behold, an angel of Adonai stood by them, and the shekhinah ·manifest weighty glory and presence of God· shone around them, and they were terrified.
10 Der Engel aber sprach zu ihnen: "Fürchtet euch nicht: Seht, ich verkünde euch eine große Freude, die allem Volke zuteil werden soll:
The angel said to them, “Don’t be afraid, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be to all the people.
11 Heute ist euch in der Stadt Davids der Heiland geboren; es ist Christus, der Herr.
For there is born to you today, in David [Beloved]’s city, a Savior, who is Messiah [Anointed one] the MarYah [Master Yahweh].
12 Und dies soll euch zum Zeichen dienen: Ihr werdet ein Kind finden, das in Windeln eingewickelt ist und in einer Krippe liegt."
This is the sign to you: you will find a baby wrapped in strips of cloth, lying in a feeding trough.”
13 Und sogleich war bei dem Engel eine ganze Schar des himmlischen Heeres.
Suddenly, there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly army praising God, and saying,
14 Sie lobten Gott und sprachen: "Ehre ist Gott in der Höhe und Friede auf der Erde den Menschen seiner Huld."
“Glory to God in the highest, on earth peace, good will toward men.”
15 Die Engel gingen dann von ihnen weg in den Himmel; die Hirten aber sprachen zueinander: "Laßt uns nach Bethlehem gehen und sehen, was dort geschehen ist, was uns der Herr kundgetan hat."
When the angels went away from them into the sky, the shepherds said to one another, “Let’s go to Bethlehem [House of Bread], now, and see this thing that has happened, which MarYah [Master Yahweh] has made known to us.”
16 Sie gingen eilends hin und fanden Maria und Joseph und das Kind, das in der Krippe lag.
They came with haste, and found both Mary [Rebellion] and Joseph [May he add], and the baby was lying in the feeding trough.
17 Als sie es gesehen hatten, erzählten sie, was sie über dieses Kind erfahren hatten.
When they saw it, they publicized widely the saying which was spoken to them about this child.
18 Und alle, die davon hörten, verwunderten sich über das, was ihnen von den Hirten gesagt worden war.
All who heard it wondered at the things which were spoken to them by the shepherds.
19 Maria aber bewahrte alle diese Begebenheiten und überdachte sie in ihrem Herzen.
But Mary [Rebellion] kept all these sayings, pondering them in her heart.
20 Die Hirten kehrten heim und lobten und priesen Gott für alles, was sie vernommen und gesehen hatten, so wie es ihnen gesagt worden war.
The shepherds teshuvah ·completely returned·, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, just as it was told them.
21 Als acht Tage vorüber waren und das Kind beschnitten werden mußte, erhielt es den Namen Jesus, den es vom Engel erhalten hatte, noch ehe es im Mutterschoß empfangen war.
When eight days were fulfilled for the circumcision of the child, his name was called Yeshua [Salvation], which was given by the angel before he was conceived in the womb.
22 Als die Tage ihrer Reinigung, entsprechend dem Gesetze des Moses, vorüber waren, brachten sie das Kind nach Jerusalem, um es dem Herrn darzustellen,
When the time came for their purification according to the Torah ·Teaching· of Moses [Drawn out] were fulfilled, they brought him up to Jerusalem [City of peace], to present him to MarYah [Master Yahweh]
23 wie im Gesetze des Herrn geschrieben steht: "Jeder erstgeborene Sohn soll dem Herrn geheiligt sein."
(as it is written in the Torah ·Teaching· of MarYah [Master Yahweh], “Every firstborn male shall be consecrated holy to MarYah [Master Yahweh]”),
24 Auch wollten sie das Opfer darbringen, wie es im Gesetze des Herrn geboten ist, ein Paar Turteltauben oder zwei junge Tauben.
and to offer a sacrifice according to that which is said in the Torah ·Teaching· of MarYah [Master Yahweh], “A pair of turtledoves, or two young pigeons.”
25 In Jerusalem lebte ein Mann mit Namen Simeon. Er war ein frommer und gottesfürchtiger Mann, der den Trost Israels erwartete; auch war der Heilige Geist in ihm.
Behold, there was a man in Jerusalem [City of peace] whose name was Simeon [Hearing]. This man was upright and devout, looking for the consolation of Israel [God prevails], and Ruach haKodesh [Spirit of the Holiness] was on him.
26 Ihm war vom Heiligen Geist geoffenbart worden, daß er den Tod nicht schauen werde, bevor er nicht den Gesalbten des Herrn gesehen habe. So kam er auf den Antrieb des Geistes in den Tempel.
It had been revealed to him by Ruach haKodesh [Spirit of the Holiness] that he should not see death before he had seen Adonai’s Messiah [Anointed one].
27 Als eben die Eltern das Kind Jesus hereintrugen, um die Gesetzesvorschrift an ihm zu erfüllen,
Prompted by haRuach [the Spirit], he went into the temple courts; and when the parents brought in the child Yeshua [Salvation] to do for him what the Torah ·Teaching· required,
28 nahm er es auf seine Arme, pries Gott und sprach:
then he received him into his arms, and blessed God, and said,
29 "Nunmehr entlässest du Deinen Knecht, o Herr, nach Deinem Wort in Frieden;
“Now you are releasing your servant, Master, according to your word, in peace;
30 mit eigenen Augen habe ich Dein Heil geschaut,
for my eyes have seen your method of salvation,
31 das du bereitet hast vor allen Völkern:
which you have prepared before the face of all peoples;
32 Ein Licht zur Offenbarung für die Heiden und eine Ehre für Dein Volk Israel."
a light for revelation to the nations, and the glory of your people Israel [God prevails].”
33 Sein Vater und seine Mutter staunten über das, was über ihn gesprochen wurde.
Joseph [May he add] and his mother were marveling at the things which were spoken concerning him,
34 Und Simeon segnete sie und sagte zu Maria, seiner Mutter: "Siehe, dieser ist bestimmt zum Falle und zur Auferstehung vieler in Israel und zu einem Zeichen, dem man widersprechen wird -
and Simeon [Hearing] blessed them, and said to Mary [Rebellion], his mother, “Behold, this child is set for the falling and the rising of many in Israel [God prevails], and for a sign which is spoken against.
35 auch deine Seele wird das Schwert durchdringen -, damit die Gedanken vieler Herzen offenkundig werden."
Yes, a sword will pierce through your own soul, that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed.”
36 Da war auch Anna, eine Prophetin, eine Tochter Phanuels, aus dem Stamme Aser. Sie war schon hochbetagt; sie hatte nach ihrer Mädchenzeit sieben Jahre mit ihrem Manne gelebt
There was one Anna, a prophetess, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Asher [Happy] (she was of a great age, having lived with a husband seven years from her virginity,
37 und war nun eine Witwe von vierundachtzig Jahren. Sie lebte dauernd im Tempel und diente Gott mit Fasten und Beten Tag und Nacht.
and she had been a widow for about eighty-four years), who didn’t depart from the temple, worshiping with fastings and petitions night and day.
38 Auch diese fand sich zur selben Stunde ein, pries Gott und redete von ihm zu allen, die auf die Erlösung Jerusalems warteten.
Coming up at that very hour, she gave thanks to Yahweh, and spoke of him to all those who were looking for redemption in Jerusalem [City of peace].
39 Nachdem sie alles nach dem Gesetze des Herrn erfüllt hatten, begaben sie sich nach Galiläa in ihre Stadt Nazareth zurück.
When they had accomplished everything required by the Torah ·Teaching· of MarYah [Master Yahweh], they returned into Galilee [District, Circuit], to their town of Nazareth [Branch, Separated one].
40 Das Kind wuchs heran, es erstarkte, ward voll Weisheit; die Liebe Gottes ruhte auf ihm.
The child was growing, and was becoming strong in spirit, being filled with wisdom, and the grace of God was upon him.
41 Seine Eltern pilgerten jährlich nach Jerusalem zum Osterfest.
His parents went every year to Jerusalem [City of peace] at the festival of the Pesac ·Passover·.
42 Auch als er zwölf Jahre alt war, reisten sie der Festsitte gemäß hinauf.
When he was twelve years old, they went up to Jerusalem [City of peace] according to the custom of the feast,
43 Am Schluß der Festtage machten sie sich wieder auf den Weg; der Jesusknabe aber blieb in Jerusalem zurück, und seine Eltern wußten nichts davon.
and when they had fulfilled the days, as they were making teshuvah ·complete return·, the boy Yeshua [Salvation] stayed behind in Jerusalem [City of peace]. Joseph [May he add] and his mother didn’t know it,
44 Sie glaubten, er sei bei der Karawane, und gingen eine Tagereise weit; dann suchten sie ihn bei den Verwandten und Bekannten.
but supposing him to be in the company, they went a day’s journey, and they looked for him among their relatives and acquaintances.
45 Als sie ihn aber dort nicht fanden, kehrten sie nach Jerusalem zurück und suchten ihn.
When they didn’t find him, they make teshuvah ·complete return· to Jerusalem [City of peace], looking for him.
46 Erst nach drei Tagen fanden sie ihn im Tempel; er saß mitten unter den Lehrern und hörte ihnen zu und stellte ihnen Fragen.
After three days they found him in the temple, sitting in the middle of the teachers, both listening to them, and asking them questions.
47 Und alle, die ihn hörten, waren außer sich über sein Verständnis und über seine Antworten.
All who heard him were amazed at his understanding and his answers.
48 Als sie ihn nun sahen, wunderten sie sich. Und seine Mutter sprach zu ihm: "Kind, warum hast du uns das getan? Siehe, dein Vater und ich haben dich mit Schmerzen gesucht."
When they saw him, they were astonished, and his mother said to him, “Son, why have you treated us this way? Behold, your 'Avikah ·your Father· and I were anxiously looking for you.”
49 Er sprach zu ihnen: "Warum habt ihr mich gesucht? Wußtet ihr nicht, daß ich im Hause meines Vaters sein muß?"
He said to them, “Why were you looking for me? Didn’t you know that I must be in 'Avi ·my Father·’s house?”
50 Doch sie verstanden nicht, was er mit diesem Worte ihnen sagen wollte.
They didn’t understand the saying which he spoke to them.
51 Alsdann zog er mit ihnen nach Nazareth hinab und war ihnen untertan. Seine Mutter aber bewahrte alle diese Begebenheiten in ihrem Herzen.
And he went down with them, and came to Nazareth [Branch, Separated one]. He was subject to them, and his mother kept all these sayings in her heart.
52 Und Jesus nahm zu an Weisheit, Alter und Wohlgefallen bei Gott und den Menschen.
And Yeshua [Salvation] increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men.
