Jeremia 26
1 Am Anfang der Regierung Jojakims, des Sohnes des Josias, des Judakönigs, ist dieses Wort vom Herrn ergangen:
In the beginning of the reign of king Sedekias, there came this word concerning Aelam.
2 So spricht der Herr: "Betritt den Vorhof in dem Haus des Herrn und sprich zu all den Leuten aus den Städten Judas, die in das Haus des Herrn zur Anbetung gekommen sind, all diese Worte, die ihnen zu verkünden ich dir anbefehle! Kürze nicht ein Wort!
FOR EGYPT, AGAINST THE POWER OF PHARAO NECHAO KING OF EGYPT, who was by the river Euphrates in Charmis, whom Nabuchodonosor king of Babylon smote in the fourth year of Joakim king of Juda.
3 Sie hören doch vielleicht und kehren um, ein jeglicher von seinem schlimmen Weg; dann laß ich mich des Unheils auch gereuen, das ich beschlossen, ihnen anzutun, um ihrer bösen Taten Willen.
Take up arms and spears, and draw nigh to battle;
4 Nun sprich zu ihnen: Also spricht der Herr: 'Ihr höret nicht auf mich und lebet nicht nach meiner Lehre, die ich euch vorgelegt.
and harness the horses: mount, ye horsemen, and stand ready in your helmets; advance the spears, and put on your breast-plates.
5 Ihr hört nicht auf die Worte der Propheten, meiner Diener, die ich euch sende und unermüdlich sandte, und doch wollt ihr nicht hören.
Why do they fear, and turn back? even because their mighty men shall be slain: they have utterly fled, and being hemmed in they have not rallied, saith the Lord.
6 Drum mache ich dies Haus hier dem zu Silo gleich, und gebe allen Völkern auf der Erde diese Stadt hin zur Verwünschung.'
Let not the swift flee, and let not the mighty man escape to the north: the [forces] at Euphrates are become feeble, and they have fallen.
7 Die Priester und Propheten und die ganze Menge waren Zeuge, wie Jeremias diese Worte in dem Haus des Herrn verkündete.
Who is this [that] shall come up as a river, and as rivers roll [their] waves?
8 Und Jeremias trug all das, was ihn der Herr geheißen, dem ganzen Volke vor. Da packten ihn die Priester und Propheten und das Volk und schrien: "Jetzt mußt du sterben.
The waters of Egypt shall come up like a river: and he said, I will go up, and will cover the earth, and will destroy the dwellers in it.
9 Warum weissagst du also in des Herren Namen: 'Wie dem zu Silo soll es diesem Haus ergehen' und 'Diese Stadt soll wüst und ganz entvölkert werden'?" So rottete sich alles Volk zusammen wider Jeremias in dem Haus des Herrn.
Mount ye the horses, prepare the chariots; go forth, ye warriors of the Ethiopians, and Libyans armed with shields; and mount, ye Lydians, bend the bow.
10 Als aber Judas Fürsten davon hörten, gingen sie vom Haus des Königs in das Haus des Herrn und ließen sich am Eingange des neuen Herrentores nieder.
And that day [shall be] to the Lord our God a day of vengeance, to take vengeance on his enemies: and the sword of the Lord shall devour, and be glutted, and be drunken with their blood: for the Lord [has] a sacrifice from the land of the north at the river Euphrates.
11 Da sprachen die Propheten und die Priester zu den Fürsten und zum gesamten Volke so: "Des Todes schuldig ist der Mann, hat er doch gegen diese Stadt geweissagt, wie ihr es selbst gehört."
Go up to Galaad, and take balm for the virgin daughter of Egypt: in vain hast thou multiplied thy medicines; there is no help in thee.
12 Doch Jeremias sprach zu all den Fürsten wie zum ganzen Volke so: "Mich hat der Herr gesandt, um gegen dieses Haus und diese Stadt all jene Worte, die ihr vernommen habt, zu weissagen.
The nations have heard thy voice, and the land has been filled with thy cry: for the warriors have fainted fighting one against another, [and] both are fallen together.
13 So bessert euren Wandel, eure Werke! Hört auf des Herren, eures Gottes, Stimme, daß sich der Herr das Unheil mög gereuen lassen, das er euch angedroht!
THE WORDS WHICH THE LORD SPOKE by Jeremias, concerning the coming of the king of Babylon to smite the land of Egypt.
14 Was mich betrifft, so bin ich hier in eurer Hand. Verfahrt mit mir, wie's gut und billig euch erscheint!
Proclaim [it] at Magdol, and declare [it] at Memphis: say ye, Stand up, and prepare; for the sword has devoured thy yew-tree.
15 Nur wißt, falls ihr mich tötet, daß ihr unschuldig Blut bringt über euch und diese Stadt und ihre Einwohner! In Wahrheit sandte mich der Herr zu euch, in eurer Gegenwart all diese Worte zu verkünden." -
Wherefore has Apis fled from thee? thy choice calf has not remained; for the Lord has utterly weakened him.
16 Da sprachen nun die Fürsten und das ganze Volk zu den Propheten und den Priestern: "Der Mann ist keineswegs des Todes schuldig, sprach er zu uns doch in des Herren, unseres Gottes, Namen."
And thy multitude has fainted and fallen; and each one said to his neighbour, Let us arise, and return into our country to our people, from the Grecian sword.
17 Da traten von den Ältesten des Landes Männer auf und sprachen zu der ganzen Volksgemeinde:
Call ye the name of Pharao Nechao king of Egypt, Saon esbeie moed.
18 "Michaeas, der aus Maresa stammte, trat als Prophet zur Zeit des Judakönigs Ezechias auf und sprach zum ganzen Volk von Juda so: 'So spricht der Heeresscharen Herr: Zum Feld wird Sion umgepflügt, Jerusalem ein Trümmerhaufen, Gestrüpp der Berg des Hauses.'
[As] I live, saith the Lord God, he shall come as Itabyrion among the mountains, and as Carmel that is on the sea.
19 Hat Judas König Ezechias und das gesamte Juda ihn zum Tod geführt? Hat man sich nicht vielmehr vorm Herrn gefürchtet und sich bemüht, ihn zu versöhnen, so daß der Herr des Unheils, das er ihnen angedroht, sich wiederum gereuen ließ? Und wir sind im Begriff, ein großes Unrecht zu verüben, uns selbst zum Leid?"
O daughter of Egypt dwelling [at home], prepare thee stuff for removing: for Memphis shall be utterly desolate, and shall be called Woe, because there are no inhabitants in it.
20 Auch noch ein andrer prophezeite in des Herrn Namen, Urias, des Semaja Sohn, aus Kirjatjearim, und zwar weissagte dieser gegen diese Stadt und dieses Land im Einklang mit des Jeremias Reden.
Egypt is a fair heifer, [but] destruction from the north is come upon her.
21 Der König Jojakim und alle seine Krieger und all die Fürsten hörten seine Reden. Da wollte ihn der König töten lassen. Als nun Urias dies erfuhr, ward er von Furcht erfüllt, ergriff die Flucht und kam so nach Ägypten.
Also her hired [soldiers] in the midst of her are as fatted calves fed in her; for they also have turned, and fled with one accord: they stood not, for the day of destruction was come upon them, and the time of their retribution.
22 Da sandte König Jojakim von seinen Leuten nach Ägypten, Elnatan, Akbors Sohn, und andre mit ihm nach Ägypten.
Their voice is as [that] of a hissing serpent, for they go upon the sand; they shall come upon Egypt with axes, as men that cut wood.
23 Sie holten den Urias aus Ägypten und brachten ihn zum König Jojakim, und dieser ließ ihn mit dem Schwerte richten und seinen Leichnam in das Grab der Findlinge wegbringen.
They shall cut down her forest, saith the Lord, for [their number] cannot at all be conjectured, for it exceeds the locust in multitude, and they are innumerable.
24 Doch Saphans Sohn, Achikam, schützte Jeremias; so gab man ihn dem Volke nicht zur Tötung preis.
The daughter of Egypt is confounded; she is delivered into the hands of a people from the north.
Behold, I [will] avenge Ammon her son upon Pharao, and upon them that trust in him.
But fear not thou, my servant Jacob, neither be thou alarmed, Israel: for, behold, I will save thee from afar, and thy seed from their captivity; and Jacob shall return, and be at ease, and sleep, and there shall be no one to trouble him.
Fear not thou, my servant Jacob, saith the Lord; for I am with thee: she [that was] without fear and in luxury, has been delivered up: for I will make a full end of every nation among whom I have thrust thee forth; but I will not cause thee to fail: yet will I chastise thee in the way of judgment, and will not hold thee entirely guiltless.
