1 Mose 35

1 Gott sprach zu Jakob: "Auf! Hin nach Betel, bleib dort und baue dort einen Altar dem Gott, der dir erschienen ist, als du vor deinem Bruder Esau bist geflohen."

Then said God unto Jacob, Arise, go up to Bethel, and dwell there, —and make there an altar, to the GOD who appeared unto thee, when thou fleddest from the face of Esau thy brother.

2 Da sprach Jakob zu seiner Familie und allen anderen bei ihm: "Werft die fremden Götter bei euch weg! Reinigt euch und bessert eure Kleider aus!

And Jacob said unto his house, and unto all who were with him, —Put away the gods of the alien which are in your midst, and purify yourselves, and change your garments;

3 Wir wollen uns aufmachen und nach Betel ziehen! Dort will ich einen Altar bauen dem Gott, der mich an meinem Nottag erhört und mit mir auf dem Weg gewesen, den ich gegangen bin."

And let us arise, and go up to Beth-el, —that I may make there an altar to the GOD who answered me in the day of my distress, and was with me in the way that I went.

4 Da gaben sie Jakob alle fremden Götter aus ihrem Besitz, samt ihren Ohrringen, und Jakob vergrub sie unter der Terebinthe bei Sichem.

So they gave unto Jacob all the gods of the alien which were in their hand, and the earrings which were in their ears, —and Jacob hid them under the oak, which was by Shechem.

5 Dann brachen sie auf. Aber ein Gottesschrecken fiel auf die Städte ringsum; da verfolgten sie nicht die Jakobssöhne.

And they brake up, —and it came to pass that the terror of God, was on the cities which were round about them, so that they pursued not after the sons of Jacob.

6 So kam Jakob nach Luz im Land Kanaan, das ist Betel, er und all die Leute bei ihm.

And Jacob came in towards Luz, which was in the land of Canaan, the same, is Beth-el, —he and all the people who were with him.

7 Er baute dort einen Altar und rief bei dem Orte den Gott von Betel an; denn hier hatten sich ihm die göttlichen Mächte geoffenbart, als er vor seinem Bruder floh.

And he built there an altar, and called the place El-Beth-el, —because, there, God revealed himself unto him, when he fled from the face of his brother,

8 Da starb Rebekkas Amme Debora. Sie ward unterhalb Betels unter der Eiche begraben; man nannte sie Klageeiche.

And Deborah, Rebekah’s nurse died, and was buried below Beth-el, under the oak, —so the name thereof was called, Allon-bacuth.

9 Und Gott erschien nochmals Jakob nach seiner Rückkehr aus Paddan Aram und segnete ihn.

And God appeared unto Jacob again, when he came in from Padan-aram, —and blessed him.

10 Und Gott sprach zu ihm: "Du heißest Jakob; fortan sollst du nicht Jakob heißen, nein, Israel soll nun dein Name sein!" Daher nannte man ihn Israel.

And God said to him, Thy name, is Jacob, —Thy name shall no longer be called Jacob But, Israel, shall be thy name. So he called his name, Israel.

11 Und Gott sprach zu ihm: "Gott bin ich, der Allmächtige. Sei fruchtbar, mehre dich! Ein Volk, ja Völkerscharen sollen dir entstammen und Könige aus deinen Lenden sprossen!

And God said to him—I, am GOD Almighty! Be fruitful and multiply, A nation, and a multitude of nations shall spring from thee, —And, kings, from thy loins, shall come forth;

12 Das Land, das ich gegeben Abraham und Isaak, gebe ich dir. Auch deinem Stamm nach dir verleihe ich das Land."

And, the land which I gave to Abraham and to Isaac, To thee, will I give it, —And to thy seed after thee, will I give the land.

13 Und Gott fuhr von ihm an der Stätte auf, wo er mit ihm geredet hatte.

And God went up from him at the place where he had spoken with him.

14 Da errichtete Jakob ein Mal an dem Ort, wo er mit ihm geredet, ein Steinmal, und goß darauf ein Trankopfer und schüttete Öl darüber.

And Jacob set up a pillar in the place where he had spoken with him, a pillar of stone, —and he poured out thereon a drink-offering, and poured thereon oil.

15 Und Jakob nannte die Stätte, wo Gott mit ihm geredet, Betel.

And Jacob called the name of the place where God had spoken with him, Beth-el.

16 Sie zogen von Betel weiter. Es war aber noch ziemlich weit nach Ephrat; da mußte Rachel gebären, und sie bekam eine schwere Geburt.

Then brake they up from Beth-el, and it came to pass when there was yet a stretch of country, to enter into Ephrath, that Rachel was in childbirth, and had hard-labour in her child-birth.

17 Als ihr die Geburt so schwer ward, sprach die Geburtshelferin zu ihr: "Sei getrost! Du hast auch diesmal einen Sohn."

So it came to pass when she was in hard-labour in her child-birth, that the midwife said to her—Do not fear, for this also of thine, is, a son.

18 Als ihr aber der Lebenshauch entfloh, denn sie mußte sterben, nannte sie ihn Ben Oni; sein Vater aber hieß ihn Benjamin.

And it came to pass when her soul was going forth—for she died, that she called his name Ben-oni, —but, his father, called him, Ben-jamin.

19 So starb Rachel. Sie ward am Weg nach Ephrat, das ist Bethlehem, begraben.

So Rachel died, —and was buried on the way to Ephrath, the same, is Bethlehem.

20 Jakob stellte auf ihrem Grab ein Steinmal auf. Das ist das Steinmal am Rachelgrab bis auf diesen Tag.

And Jacob set up a pillar, over her grave, —the same, is—The Pillar of the Grave of Rachel until this day.

21 Israel zog weiter und spannte sein Zelt jenseits vom Herdenturm auf.

Then Israel brake up, —and spread his tent at a distance from Migdal Eder.

22 Während Israel in dieser Gegend wohnte, ging Ruben hin und beschlief seines Vaters Nebenweib Bilha, und Israel vernahm es. Die Jakobssöhne waren aber ihrer zwölf.

And it came to pass while Israel inhabited that land, that Reuben went and lay with Bilhah his father’s concubine; and Israel heard of it. And so the Sons of Israel came to be Twelve.

23 Die Leasöhne waren Jakobs Erstgeborener Ruben, Simeon, Levi, Juda, Issakar und Zabulon.

The sons of Leah, the firstborn of Jacob, Reuben, —And Simeon and Levi and Judah, and Issachar and Zebulon:

24 Die Rachelsöhne waren Joseph und Benjamin.

The sons of Rachel, Joseph and Benjamin:

25 Die Söhne Bilhas, der Magd der Rachel, waren Dan und Naphtali.

And the sons of Bilhah, handmaid of Rachel, Dan, and Naphtali:

26 Und die Söhne Zilpas, der Magd der Lea, waren Gad und Asser; dies sind die Jakobssöhne, die ihm zu Paddan Aram geboren sind.

And the sons of Zilpah, handmaid of Leah, Gad and Asher: These, are the sons of Jacob, who were born to him, in Padan-aram.

27 Jakob kam nun zu seinem Vater Isaak nach Mamre bei Kirjat Arba, das ist Hebron, wo Abraham und Isaak als Gäste geweilt hatten.

Then came Jacob unto Isaac his father, to Mamre, the city of Arba, —the same, is Hebron, where had sojourned Abraham and Isaac.

28 Und Isaaks Lebensdauer betrug 180 Jahre,

And the days of Isaac came to be—a hundred and eighty years.

29 da verschied Isaak. Er starb und ward zu seinen Stammesgenossen versammelt, alt und lebenssatt. Ihn begruben seine Söhne Esau und Jakob.

And Isaac breathed his last, and died and was added unto his people, old, and satisfied with days, —and Esau and Jacob his sons buried him.
