Hesekiel 3
1 Er sprach zu mir: "Du Menschensohn! Iß, was du findest! Verzehre diese Rolle! Geh hin und sprich zu Israel!"
Then said he unto me, Son of man What thou findest, eat, —eat this roll, and go speak unto the house of Israel.
2 Ich öffnete den Mund; dann gab er diese Rolle mir zu essen
So I opened my mouth, —and he caused me to eat this roll.
3 und sprach zu mir: "Du Menschensohn! Gib deinem Magen diese Rolle zum Verzehren, die ich dir hiermit gebe, und fülle deinen Leib damit!" Da aß ich sie. Sie ward in meinem Munde honigsüß.
Then said he unto me Son of man. Thy belly, cause thou to eat and thy bowels, fill thou with this roll which I am giving unto thee. So I did eat, and it became in my mouth, as honey for sweetness.
4 Er sprach zu mir: "Du Menschensohn! Zum Hause Israel geh hin und sprich zu ihm mit meinen Worten!
Then said he unto me, — Son of man Go get thee unto the house of Israel, and thou shalt speak with my words, unto them.
5 Du wirst ja nicht gesandt zu einem Volk von unbekannter Sprache, von schwerer Zunge, nein, zum Hause Israel.
For not unto a people deep of lip and heavy of tongue, art thou sent —[but] unto the house of Israel:
6 Doch wenn ich dich zu vielen Völkern unbekannter Sprachen und schwerer Zungen schickte, zu solchen, deren Worte für dich unverständlich, ja, wenn ich dich zu solchen schickte, sie würden auf dich hören.
not unto many peoples deep of lip and heavy of tongue, whose words thou couldst not understand, —surely if unto them I had sent thee, they would have hearkened unto thee.
7 Das Haus von Israel jedoch hört nicht auf dich. Es hört ja nicht einmal auf mich, ist doch das ganze Israel von harter Stirn und starrem Sinn.
But the house of Israel will not be willing to hearken unto thee, for they are not willing to hearken unto me, —for all the house of Israel are bold of forehead and hard of heart.
8 Doch sieh, ich mache hart dein Angesicht, gleich ihrem Angesicht, gleich ihrer Stirne deine Stirn.
Lo! I have made thy face bold like as their faces, and thy forehead bold like as their forehead.
9 Wie Diamant, noch härter als ein Felsen, mach ich deine Stirn. Du sollst dich nicht vor ihnen fürchten und nicht vor ihnen zittern, obgleich ein Haus der Widerspenstigkeit sie sind!"
As an adamant harder than flint, have I made thy forehead, —thou shalt not fear them neither shalt thou be dismayed at their faces, For a perverse house, they are!
10 Er sprach zu mir: "Du Menschensohn! Präg meine Worte, die ich zu dir rede, dir ein, ja, präg sie deinem Herzen ein, horch auf mit deinen Ohren!
Then said he unto me, — Son of man. All my words which I shall speak unto thee, receive thou into thy heart and in thine ears, hear thou:
11 Nun geh zu den Gefangenen, zu deines Volkes Söhnen! Sag ihnen! Sprich zu ihnen: 'Also spricht der Herr: Sie mögen hören und erbeben!'"
then go get thee unto them of the captivity, unto the sons of thy people, and thou shalt speak unto them and say unto them, Thus saith My Lord Yahweh, whether they will hear or whether they will forbear.
12 Ein Geist hob mich empor, und hinter mir vernahm ich eine mächtig starke Stimme: "Gepriesen sei die Majestät des Herrn!", von seinem Orte her,
Then the Spirit lifted me up, and I heard behind me the sound of a great rushing, — Blessed be the glory of Yahweh. From his place!
13 und dann ein Rauschen, das von der Wesen Flügel kam, die aneinander rührten, und dann ein Rasseln von den Rädern nebenan, ein mächtiges Getöse.
Yea the sound of the wings of the living ones, gently touching each other, and the sound of the wheels, along with them, even the sound of a great rushing.
14 So hob mich denn ein Geist empor und riß mich fort. Da schritt ich, bitterer Gefühle voll, dahin, in meinem Innern ganz erregt; schwer lastete die Hand des Herrn auf mir.
So the Spirit lifted me up, and took me away, —and I went bitterly, in the rage of my spirit, but the hand of Yahweh upon me was strong.
15 Nach Tell Abib kam ich zu den Gefangenen, die an dem Kebarflusse saßen, und wo sie wohnten, verblieb ich unter ihnen sieben Tage, starr.
Thus came I unto them of the captivity, at Tel-abib. who were dwelling towards he river Chebar and I dwelt where They were dwelling; yea I dwelt there seven days, stunned in their midst,
16 Nach dem Verlauf von sieben Tagen erging das Wort des Herrn an mich:
And it came to pass at the end of seven days, that the word of Yahweh came unto me saying
17 "Dich, Menschensohn, bestell ich für das Haus von Israel zum Wächter. Aus meinem Mund vernimm das Wort, mit dem du sie von mir verwarnen sollst!
Son of man, A watchman, have I appointed thee to the house of Israel, —and thou shalt hear, at my mouth a message, and shalt warn them from me.
18 Wenn ich vom Frevler sage: 'Du mußt sterben!', und du verwarnst ihn nicht und sagst auch nichts, um einen Frevler vor dem schlimmen Weg zu warnen, daß er am Leben bleibe, dann stirbt der Frevler zwar für seine Missetat; von deiner Hand jedoch verlange ich sein Blut.
When I say to the lawless man— Thou shalt surely die, and thou hast not given him warning, neither hast spoken to warn the lawless man from his lawless way, to save himself alive the same lawless man in his iniquity shall die, but his blood, at thy hand, will I require.
19 Verwarnst du aber einen Frevler und läßt er nicht von seinem Frevel und nicht von seinem schlimmen Wege, so muß er selbst für seine Sünde sterben. Du aber hast dich selbst gerettet.
Whereas when thou hast warned a lawless man, and he hath not turned from his lawlessness and from his lawless way he in his iniquity shall die, but Thou hast delivered thine own soul.
20 Und wendet sich der Fromme weg von seiner Frömmigkeit, und tut er Unrechtes, dann laß ich's ihm zum Fall gereichen, daß er stirbt. Hast du ihn nicht verwarnt, so muß er zwar ob seiner Sünde selber sterben, und der Verdienste, die er sich erworben, wird nicht mehr gedacht. Von deiner Hand jedoch verlange ich sein Blut.
And when a righteous man hath turned from his righteousness, and committed perversity, and I have suffered a stumbling- block to be laid before him he shall die, —though thou hast not warned him, in his sin, shall he die, neither shall be remembered his righteous deeds which he hath done, but his blood, at thy hand will I require;
21 Verwarnst du aber einen Frommen in rechter Weise, ohne selbst dich zu verfehlen, und sündigt dieser wirklich nicht mehr, so wird er leben bleiben. Er hat sich warnen lassen, und du hast dich gerettet."
whereas when Thou hast warned a righteous man. That a righteous man must not sin and he hath not sinned, he shall surely live in that he took warning, and thou hast delivered thine own soul.
22 Dort kam die Hand des Herrn auf mich; er sprach zu mir: "Steh auf, geh in das Tal hinaus! Dort will ich mit dir sprechen."
Then came upon me there the hand of Yahweh, —and he said unto me, Arise go forth into the valley, and there, will I speak with thee.
23 Da stand ich auf und ging ins Tal hinaus. Da stand die Herrlichkeit des Herrn, gleich der, die ich am Kebarfluß geschaut. Da fiel ich auf mein Antlitz nieder.
So I arose and went forth into the valley, and lo! there the glory of Yahweh, standing, like the glory which I saw by the river Chebar, -and I fell upon my face.
24 Dann aber kam ein Geist in mich; der stellte mich auf meine Füße; er redete mich an und sprach zu mir: "Sperr dich in deine Wohnung ein!
Then the Spirit entered into me, and caused me to stand upon my feet, —and he spake with me and said unto me, Go in shut thyself up, in the midst of thine own house,
25 Nun, Menschensohn! Schau hin! Sie werden Stricke um dich legen und dich mit ihnen fesseln, daß du nicht unter sie hinausgehn kannst.
And thou—O son of man, lo! they have put upon thee bands, and they will bind thee therewith, -. so that thou go not forth in their midst;
26 Dann laß ich deine Zunge dir am Gaumen kleben, daß du verstummst und ihnen nicht zu einem Manne werdest, der Strafe predigt; sie sind ein Haus der Widerspenstigkeit.
thy tongue also, will I cause to cleave unto the roof of thy mouth, so shalt thou be dumb and not be to them a reprover, — For a perverse house, they are!
27 Sobald ich aber zu dir rede, will ich den Mund dir öffnen, daß du zu ihnen sagst: 'So spricht der Herr, der Herr.' Wer hören will, der höre; wer nicht, der laß es sein; sie sind ein Haus der Widerspenstigkeit."
But when I speak with thee, I will open thy mouth, and thou shalt say unto them. Thus saith My Lord Yahweh, —He that is minded to hear, let him hear, And he that is minded to forbear, let him forbear! For a perverse house, they are!
