2 Mose 19
1 Am dritten Neumond nach dem Auszug der Israeliten aus Ägypten, genau auf den Tag, waren sie in die Wüste Sinai gekommen.
In the third month, by the coming forth of the sons of Israel out of the land of Egypt, on this day, came they into the desert of Sinai:
2 Sie brachen nämlich von Raphidim auf und kamen so in die Wüste Sinai. Und sie lagerten sich in der Wüste. Und Israel lagerte dort gegenüber dem Berge.
then was it that they brake up out of Rephidim and came into the desert of Sinai, and encamped in the desert, —yea Israel encamped there before the mountain.
3 Moses aber stieg zu Gott hinauf. Da rief ihm der Herr vom Berge zu: "Sprich also zu dem Jakobshaus und kündige den Söhnen Israels:
And when Moses, had gone up unto God, then called Yahweh unto him out of the mountain saying, Thus, shalt thou say to the house of Jacob, And tell the sons of Israel:
4 'Ihr selber habt gesehen, was ich an Ägypten getan und wie ich euch auf Adlerflügeln trug und euch zu mir herbrachte.
Ye, have seen what I did unto the Egyptians, —And how I bare you upon wings of eagles, And brought you in unto myself: —
5 Nun sollt ihr auf meine Stimme hören: Haltet ihr meinen Bund, dann seid ihr mir aus allen Völkern ein Sondergut. Denn mein ist die ganze Erde.
Now, therefore, if ye will, indeed hearken, to my voice, And keep my covenant, Then shall ye be mine as a treasure beyond all the peoples, For, mine, is all the earth;
6 Ihr aber sollt mir sein ein Königreich von Priestern, ein heilig Volk.' Das sind die Worte, die du den Israeliten sagen sollst."
But, ye, shall be mine, As a kingdom of priests, And a holy nation. These, are the words, which thou shalt speak unto the sons of Israel.
7 Da kam Moses, berief des Volkes Ältesten und trug ihnen alle diese Worte vor, die der Herr ihm aufgetragen.
Then came Moses, and called for the elders of the people, —and put before them all these words which Yahweh had commanded him.
8 Und das ganze Volk erwiderte einhellig und sprach: "Alles, was der Herr befiehlt, wollen wir tun." Und Moses überbrachte die Worte des Volkes dem Herrn.
And all the people responded together and said, All that Yahweh hath spoken, will we do. And Moses took back the words of the people, unto Yahweh.
9 Da sprach der Herr zu Moses: "Ich komme zu dir in dichter Wolke, damit das Volk höre, wenn ich mit dir rede, und daß sie für immer auch dir vertrauen." Moses aber berichtete die Worte des Volkes dem Herrn.
Then said Yahweh unto Moses: Lo! I, am coming unto thee in the veiling of cloud, in order that the people may hear when I speak with thee, moreover also, that, in thee, they may trust to times age-abiding. Then told Moses the words of the people unto Yahweh.
10 Und der Herr sprach zu Moses: "Geh zum Volk! Bereite es vor, heute und morgen! Sie sollen saubere Kleider tragen!
And Yahweh said unto Moses—Go unto the people, and thou shalt hallow them to-day, and to-morrow, —and they shall wash their clothes;
11 Für übermorgen seien sie bereit! Denn übermorgen fährt der Herr vor des ganzen Volkes Augen nieder auf den Sinaiberg.
and shall be ready, by the third day, —for on the third day, will Yahweh come down in the sight of all the people upon Mount Sinai.
12 Das Volk aber schranke du ringsum ein und sprich: 'Hütet euch, auf den Berg zu steigen oder nur an seinen Fuß zu rühren! Wer den Berg berührt, erleidet Todesstrafe.'
So then thou shalt set bounds for the people round about saying, Take heed to yourselves—that ye go not up into the mountain, nor touch the boundary thereof, whosoever toucheth the mountain, shall, surely die.
13 Nicht soll eine Hand an ihn rühren! Gesteinigt oder durchstochen werde, ob Vieh oder Mensch! Nicht dürfen sie am Leben bleiben. Erst wenn das Lärmhorn tönt, dürfen sie den Berg hinaufsteigen."
No hand shall touch it but he shall be, surely stoned, or be, surely shot, whether beast or man, he shall not live, —When the ram’s horn soundeth, they themselves, shall come up within the mount,
14 Da stieg Moses von dem Berge zum Volke hinab und bereitete das Volk vor. Sie legten saubere Gewänder an.
Then Moses went down out of the mount, unto the people, —and hallowed the people, and they washed their clothes.
15 Dann sprach er zum Volke: "Für übermorgen haltet euch bereit! Berührt kein Weib!"
And he said unto the people, Be ready, by the third day, —do not approach a woman.
16 Als es am dritten Tage Morgen ward, brachen Donner los und Blitze. Eine schwere Wolke hing auf dem Berge, und mächtiger Hörnerschall ertönte. Da bebte alles Volk im Lager.
And it came to pass on the third day, when the morning had come, that there were thunderings and lightnings, and a heavy cloud upon the mount, and the sound of a horn, loud exceedingly, —and all the people who were in the camp trembled.
17 Dann führte Moses das Volk Gott entgegen aus dem Lager, und am Fuße des Berges stellte es sich auf.
And Moses brought forth the people, to meet God out of the camp, —and they stationed themselves in the lower part of the mount,
18 Der ganze Berg Sinai aber rauchte, weil der Herr auf ihn im Feuer niedergefahren war. Und sein Rauch stieg auf, wie des Schmelzofens Rauch. Und der ganze Berg erbebte heftig.
And Mount Sinai, smoked, all over, because Yahweh had come down thereon in fire, —and the smoke thereof went up as the smoke of a furnace, and all the mountain trembled exceedingly.
19 Der Hörnerschall aber ward immer stärker. Und Moses redete; die Gottheit aber antwortete ihm nur in einem Schall.
And as oft as the sound of the horn went on and became exceeding loud, Moses, spake and, God, responded to him with a voice.
20 Der Herr fuhr also auf den Berg Sinai, auf den Gipfel des Berges, nieder. Da berief der Herr den Moses auf den Gipfel des Berges, und Moses stieg hinan.
Thus came Yahweh down upon Mount Sinai unto the top of the mount, —and Yahweh called Moses unto the top of the mount, and Moses went up.
21 Und der Herr sprach zu Moses: "Steig hinab! Schärfe dem Volke ein, daß sie nicht vorwärtsdringen, den Herrn zu schauen! Sonst würden viele aus ihnen fallen.
Then said Yahweh unto Moses, Go down, adjure the people, —lest they press through unto Yahweh to see, and so there fall from among them a multitude.
22 Die Priester selbst, die sonst dem Herrn nahen dürfen, müssen stehenbleiben, daß der Herr nicht gegen sie losfahre."
Yea, even the priests who do approach unto Yahweh, must hallow themselves, —lest Yahweh break in upon them.
23 Da sprach Moses zum Herrn: "Das Volk kann nicht den Sinaiberg besteigen; du hast ja selbst uns eingeschärft: 'Umschranke den Berg! Umhege ihn!'"
And Moses said unto Yahweh, The people cannot come up into Mount Sinai, —for, thou thyself, hast adjured us saying: Set bounds to the mountain and hallow it.
24 Da sprach der Herr zu ihm: "Geh hinab und komm mit Aaron wieder! Aber die Priester und das Volk dürfen nicht stürmisch zum Herrn heraufsteigen, daß er nicht gegen sie losfahre."
And Yahweh said unto him—Away, down, then shalt thou come up, thou and Aaron with thee, —but as for the priests and the people, let it not be that they press through to come up unto Yahweh lest he break in upon them.
25 Da stieg Moses zum Volke hinab und sprach mit ihm.
So Moses went down unto the people, —and said [these things] unto them.
