Epheser 2
1 Ihr waret tot infolge eurer Übertretungen und Sünden,
And you [hath he quickened], who were dead in trespasses and sins;
2 in denen ihr einst nach dem Zeitgeist dieser Welt gewandelt seid, nach dem Fürsten der Gewalt der Luft, des Geistes, der noch immer in den Kindern des Ungehorsams wirksam ist. (aiōn g165)
Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience: (aiōn g165)
3 Darunter wandelten auch wir einst alle mit unseren fleischlichen Gelüsten. Wir taten, was das Fleisch und Herz begehrte, und waren von Natur Kinder des Zornes, genau so wie die anderen.
Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.
4 Gott aber, der reich ist an Erbarmen, hat auch uns in seiner großen Liebe, in der er uns so sehr geliebt hat,
But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,
5 obwohl wir unserer Sünden wegen tot waren, dennoch mit Christus zusammen wieder auferweckt zum Leben. Aus Gnade seid ihr gerettet.
Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved; )
6 Er hat in Christus Jesus uns auch miterweckt und mit ins Himmelreich versetzt,
And hath raised [us] up together, and made [us] sit together in heavenly [places] in Christ Jesus:
7 Um in den Zeiten, die da kommen werden, den übergroßen Reichtum der Gnade aufzuzeigen, aus lauter Güte gegen uns in Christus Jesus. (aiōn g165)
That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in [his] kindness toward us through Christ Jesus. (aiōn g165)
8 Durch Gnade seid ihr kraft des Glaubens gerettet, und zwar nicht als euer eigenes Verdienst; Gottes Gabe ist es.
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: [it is] the gift of God:
9 Nicht aus Werken, damit sich keiner rühmen könne.
Not of works, lest any man should boast.
10 Wir sind ja sein Geschöpf, in Christus Jesus für gute Werke geschaffen, die Gott bereitet hat im voraus, damit wir eifrig in ihnen wandeln.
For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
11 Darum bedenkt, daß ehemals ihr, die Heiden von Geburt - die "Beschnittenen", die am Leibe von Menschenhänden beschnitten sind, heißen euch "Unbeschnittene" -
Wherefore remember, that ye [being] in time past Gentiles in the flesh, who are called Uncircumcision by that which is called the Circumcision in the flesh made by hands;
12 in jener Zeit ohne Christus gelebt habt, ausgeschlossen aus Israels Gemeinde, ohne Anteil am Bunde der Verheißung, ohne Hoffnung, ohne Gott in dieser Welt.
That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world:
13 Doch jetzt seid ihr, die ihr einst ferne wart, in Christus Jesus nahe geworden durch Christi Blut.
But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.
14 Denn er selbst ist unser Friede, der die beiden zu Einem gemacht hat und dadurch, daß er die Scheidewand, das heißt den Zaun, die Feindschaft in seinem Fleische abgebrochen hat,
For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition [between us];
15 das Gesetz der Gebote in seinen Anordnungen außer Kraft gesetzt hat, damit er die beiden in sich zu einem einzigen, neuen Menschen schuf und so Frieden stiftete.
Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, [even] the law of commandments [contained] in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, [so] making peace;
16 Die beiden wollte er in einem Leibe durch das Kreuz mit Gott versöhnen, indem er die Feindschaft dort vernichtete.
And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby:
17 So trat er auf und verkündete Frieden euch, den Fernen, und Frieden den Nahen.
And came and preached peace to you which were afar off, and to them that were nigh.
18 Wir beide haben also durch ihn in einem Geiste den Zutritt zum Vater.
For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father.
19 So seid ihr denn nicht mehr Fremde und Beisassen, sondern Mitbürger der Heiligen und Hausgenossen Gottes,
Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God;
20 aufgebaut auf dem Fundament der Apostel und Propheten, indessen Christus Jesus selbst der Schlußstein ist.
And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner [stone];
21 In ihm fügt sich der ganze Bau zusammen und wächst zu einem Tempel aus, heilig im Herrn,
In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord:
22 auf dem auch ihr zu einer geistigen Gotteswohnung miterbaut seid.
In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.
