5 Mose 25
1 "Ist Streit zwischen Männern, und treten sie vor Gericht, dann richte man sie! Den Unschuldigen spreche man frei und verurteile den Schuldigen!
When there ariseth a controversy between men, and they come nigh unto judgment, and judgment is granted them, then shall they justify the righteous man, and condemn the lawless.
2 Verdient der Schuldige Schläge, dann lasse ihn der Richter hinlegen und ihm vor ihm Schläge geben seines Frevels wegen zur Genüge an Zahl.
And it shall be—if the lawless man be, worthy of stripes, then shall the judge cause him to lie down and be beaten before him, according to the measure of his lawlessness, by number:
3 Vierzig Hiebe lasse er ihm geben, aber nicht mehr, damit dein Bruder nicht vor deinen Augen zerfleischt würde, versetzte man ihm noch mehr Hiebe.
forty stripes, may he give him not going beyond, —lest, if he do go beyond to smite him above these, with many stripes, then should thy brother be of no account in thine eyes.
4 Du sollst einem Rinde beim Dreschen keinen Maulkorb anlegen!
Thou shalt not muzzle an ox when he is treading out the corn.
5 Leben Brüder beisammen und stirbt einer von ihnen, ohne daß er einen Sohn gehabt, so soll die Frau des Verstorbenen nicht nach auswärts eines fremden Mannes werden! Ihr Schwager soll zu ihr eingehen! Er nehme sie sich zum Weibe und leiste ihr die Schwagerpflicht!
When brethren dwell together, and one of them dieth, having, no son, the wife of the dead shall not marry outside to a stranger, —her husband’s brother, shall go in unto her, and take her unto him to wife and do for her as a husband’s brother.
6 Der Erstgeborene, den sie gebiert, komme auf den Namen seines verstorbenen Bruders, daß nicht sein Name in Israel erlösche!
And it shall be, that, the firstborn which she beareth, shall succeed in the name of his brother who is dead, —so shall his name not be wiped out from Israel.
7 Hat aber der Mann keine Lust, seine Schwägerin zu heiraten so gehe seine Schwägerin an das Tor zu den Ältesten und spreche: 'Mein Schwager weigert sich, seines Bruders Namen in Israel zu erhalten! Er will mir die Schwagerpflicht nicht leisten.'
But, if the man like not to take his sister-in-law, then shall his sister-in-law go up unto the gate, unto the elders, and say—My husband’s brother hath refused, to raise up unto his brother a name in Israel, he is not willing to do as a husband’s brother unto me.
8 Da sollen ihn die Ältesten seiner Stadt vorladen und ihm zureden! Bleibt er aber dabei und sagt: 'Ich habe keine Lust, sie zu nehmen',
Then shall the elders of his city call him and speak unto him, —and he shall stand and say, I like not to take her.
9 so trete seine Schwägerin in Gegenwart der Ältesten zu ihm, ziehe ihm den Schuh vom Fuße, speie ihm ins Angesicht, hebe an und sage: 'Also ergehe es jedermann, der seines Bruders Haus nicht aufbauen will!'
Then shall his brother’s wife come near unto him in the presence of the elders, and draw his shoe from off his foot, and spit in his face, —and respond and say, Thus shall it be done unto the man who will not build up the house of his brother.
10 Und sein Name heiße in Israel: 'Elender Barfüßer'!
And his name shall be called in Israel, —The house of him who had his shoe drawn off.
11 Raufen zwei Brüder miteinander, und eilt das Weib des einen herbei, ihren Mann zu befreien aus der Hand dessen, der ihn schlägt, und packt sie ihn mit der Hand an den Schamteilen,
When men strive together one with another, and the wife of the one draweth near to deliver her husband out of the hand of him that smiteth him, —and she putteth forth her hand, and seizeth him by his parts of shame,
12 dann haue ihr schonungslos die Hand ab!
then shalt thou cut off her hand, thine eye shall not pity.
13 In deiner Tasche sollst du nicht zweierlei Gewichtssteine tragen, einen größeren und einen kleineren!
Thou shalt not have in thy bag divers weights, —a great and a small.
14 In deinem Hause sollst du nicht zweierlei Scheffel haben, einen größeren und einen kleineren!
Thou shalt not have in thy house divers measures, —a great and a small.
15 Nur volles und richtiges Gewicht sollst du haben, vollen und richtigen Scheffel, auf daß du lange lebst in dem Land, das dir der Herr, dein Gott, gibt!
A weight full and just, shalt thou have, a measure full and just, shalt thou have, —that thy days may be prolonged upon the soil which Yahweh thy God is giving unto thee.
16 Denn ein Greuel für den Herrn, deinen Gott, ist jeder, der solches tut und solche Unredlichkeit verübt.
For an abomination unto Yahweh thy God, is every one that doeth these things, —every one that doeth unjustly.
17 Bedenke, was dir die Amalekiter unterwegs getan, auf deinem Zuge aus Ägypten,
Remember that which Amalek did unto thee by the way when ye came forth out of Egypt;
18 wie sie dich unterwegs überfallen und all deine ermatteten Nachzügler von dir abschnitten, als du erschöpft und müde geworden, und wie sie Gott nicht gefürchtet haben!
how he encountered thee by the way and cut off in thy rear all the worn-out behind thee, thou thyself, being weary and worn, —how he feared not God.
19 Darum sollst du in dem Lande, das dir der Herr, dein Gott, zu eigen gibt, des Amalekiters Namen unter dem Himmel auslöschen, wenn dir der Herr, dein Gott, vor all deinen Feinden ringsum Ruhe schafft! Du sollst es nicht vergessen!"
Therefore shall it be when Yahweh thy God hath given thee rest from all thine enemies round about in the land which Yahweh thy God is giving unto thee for an inheritance to possess it, then shalt thou wipe out the remembrance of Amalek from under the heavens, —thou shalt not forget.
