5 Mose 11

1 "So liebe den Herrn, deinen Gott, und warte seines Amtes, seiner Gesetze, Gebote und Gebräuche!

Therefore shalt thou love Yahweh thy God and keep his observance and his statutes and his regulations and his commandments all the days.

2 Beachtet, daß dies jetzt nicht euren Kindern gilt! Sie haben die Zucht des Herrn, eures Gottes, nicht erlebt und nicht erfahren seine Größe, seine starke Hand und seinen ausgereckten Arm,

And ye must know to-day, (for not with your sons [do I speak] who know not, neither have they seen) the discipline of Yahweh your God, —his greatness, his firm hand, and his stretched-out arm;

3 seine Zeichen und Taten, die er in Ägypten an Ägyptens König Pharao und seinem ganzen Land getan,

and his signs and his doings, which he did in the midst of Egypt, —unto Pharaoh king of Egypt and unto all his land;

4 und was er getan an Ägyptens Heer, seinen Rossen und Wagen. Über sie hat der Herr des Schilfmeeres Wasser fluten lassen, als sie euch nachjagten; so vertilgte sie der Herr bis auf diesen Tag.

and what he did unto the forces of Egypt—unto his horses and unto his chariots in that he caused the waters of the Red Sea to flow over their faces, when they were pursuing after you, —and so Yahweh destroyed them (unto this day);

5 Und was er an euch in der Wüste getan bis zu eurer Ankunft an diesem Ort,

and what he did unto you, in the desert, —until ye came in as far as this place;

6 und was er getan an Datan und Abiram, den Söhnen des Rubensohnes Eliab, wie die Erde ihren Schlund aufgetan und sie dann verschlang inmitten von ganz Israel samt ihren Behausungen und Zelten und ihrem ganzen Gefolge.

and what he did to Dathan and to Abiram, sons of Eliab, son of Reuben, in that the earth opened wide her mouth, and swallowed-up them and their households and their tents, —and all the living things that attended them, in the midst of all Israel.

7 Ihr dagegen sahet mit eigenen Augen all die Großtaten, die der Herr getan.

For yours, are the eyes that have seen every great deed of Yahweh, —which he hath done.

8 So achtet aller Gebote, die ich euch heute gebiete, damit ihr stark seid und das Land betretet und es einnehmt, das zu besetzen ihr hinüberschreitet,

Therefore shall ye keep all the commandment which I am commanding thee, today, —that ye may be strong, and so enter and possess the land, whither ye are passing over to possess it;

9 und damit ihr lange lebet in dem Lande, das der Herr euren Vätern und ihrem Stamme zugeschworen, in dem Lande, das von Milch und Honig fließt!

and that ye may prolong your days upon the soil which Yahweh sware unto your fathers, to give unto them and unto their seed, —a land flowing with milk and honey.

10 Denn das Land, in das du ziehst, es zu besetzen, gleicht nicht dem Lande Ägypten, aus dem du gezogen, das du mit deiner Saat besätest und das du, wie einen Gemüsegarten, mit deinem Fuß bewässert hast.

For the land which thou art entering to, possess, not like the land of Egypt, it is, from whence ye came out, —where thou didst sow thy seed, and then water it with thy foot, like a garden of herbs;

11 Das Land, in das ihr hinüberzieht, es zu besetzen, ist ein Land mit Bergen und Tälern; vom Regen des Himmels trinkt es Wasser,

but the land whereinto ye are passing over to, possess it, is a land of hills, and valleys, —which of the rain of the heavens, doth drink water:

12 ein Land, für das der Herr, dein Gott, sorgt. Beständig ruhen des Herrn, deines Gottes, Augen auf ihm, vom Anfang bis zum Schluß des Jahres.

a land which Yahweh thy God careth for, —continually are the eyes of Yahweh thy God upon it, from the beginning of the year, even unto the end of the year.

13 Gehorchet ihr treulich meinen Geboten, die ich euch heute gebiete, den Herrn, euren Gott, zu lieben und ihm von ganzem Herzen und aus ganzer Seele zu dienen,

And it shall come to pass, if ye will hearken, unto my commandments, which, I am commanding you to-day, —to love Yahweh your God, and to serve him, with, all your heart, and with all your soul,

14 dann gebe ich eurem Lande zur rechten Zeit Regen, Frühregen und Spätregen, daß du dein Korn, deinen Wein und dein Öl einheimsest.

then [saith he] I will give the rain of your land in its season, the early rain and the latter rain; so shalt thou gather in thy corn, and thy new wine and thine oil;

15 Ich gebe auf deiner Flur Gras für dein Vieh, daß du essest und satt werdest.

and I will give grass in thy field for thy cattle, —and thou shalt eat and be satisfied.

16 Hütet euch, daß euer Herz nicht betört werde und ihr abfallet, anderen Göttern dienet und euch davor hinwerfet!

Take heed to yourselves, lest your heart be befooled, —and ye turn aside and serve other gods, and bow down to them.

17 Sonst entbrennt des Herrn Zorn gegen euch, und er sperrt den Himmel. Kein Regen fällt, und die Scholle gibt ihre Ernte nicht mehr. Dann schwindet ihr rasch aus dem schönen Lande, das der Herr euch gibt.

So would the anger of Yahweh kindle upon you and he would shut up the heavens, that there should be no rain, and the ground, would not yield her increase, —so should ye perish speedily, from off the good land, which Yahweh is giving unto you.

18 Nehmt euch diese meine Worte zu Herzen und zu Gemüt! Bindet sie als Denkzeichen an eure Hand! Tragt sie als Marken zwischen euren Augen!

Therefore shall ye lay these my words upon your heart, and upon your soul, —and bind them for a sign upon your hand, and they shall serve as bands between your eyes;

19 Lehrt sie eure Kinder, indem ihr davon redet, wenn du in deinem Hause weilst oder auf Reisen gehst, wenn du dich legst und wenn du aufstehst!

and ye shall teach them unto your children by speaking of them, —when thou sittest in thy house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down and when thou risest up;

20 Schreibe sie auf die Pfosten deines Hauses und an deine Tore,

and thou shalt write them upon the door-posts of thy house and within thy gates:

21 auf daß sich eure und eurer Kinder Tage mehren in dem vom Herrn euren Vätern zugeschworenen Land, wie die Tage des Himmels über der Erde!

that your days may multiply, and the days of your children, upon the soil which Yahweh sware unto your fathers, to give unto them, —like the days of the heavens upon the earth.

22 Achtet ernstlich darauf, all diese Gebote, die ich gebiete zu tun, den Herrn, euren Gott, zu lieben, auf seinen Wegen zu wandeln und ihm anzuhängen!

For if ye do, indeed keep, all this commandment which I am commanding you to do it, —to love Yahweh your God, to Walk in all his ways, and to cleave unto him,

23 Dann rottet der Herr all diese Völker vor euch aus, und ihr besiegt Völker, die größer und stärker als ihr.

then will Yahweh dispossess all these nations, from before you, —and ye shall dispossess nations greater and stronger than ye:

24 Jeder Ort, den eure Fußsohle betritt, wird euer sein. Von der Wüste bis zum Libanon, vom Strome, dem Euphratstrom, bis ans Westmeer, das wird euer Gebiet sein.

every place whereon the sole of your foot shall tread yours, shall it be, —from the desert and the Lebanon from the river—the river Euphrates, even unto the hinder sea, shall be your boundary.

25 Niemand besteht vor euch. Furcht und Schrecken legt vor euch der Herr, euer Gott, über das ganze Land, das ihr nach seiner Verheißung betretet.

No man shall stand before you, —the dread of you and the fear of you, will Yahweh your God put forth over the face of all the land whereon ye shall tread, as he spake unto you.

26 Seht! Ich lege euch heute Segen und Fluch vor.

See! I am setting before you to-day, —a blessing, and a curse:

27 Den Segen, falls ihr gehorchet des Herrn, eures Gottes, Geboten, die ich euch heute gebiete.

the blessing, when ye shall hearken unto the commandments of Yahweh your God, which I am commanding you to-day;

28 Den Fluch, wenn ihr nicht gehorcht den Geboten des Herrn, eures Gottes, wenn ihr abweicht von dem Weg, den ich euch heute gebiete, und anderen Göttern nachlauft, die ihr nicht kanntet.

and the curse if ye, shall not hearken unto the commandments of Yahweh your God, but shall turn aside out of the way which I am commanding you to-day, —to go after other gods which ye know not.

29 Bringt dich der Herr, dein Gott, in das Land, in das du ziehst, es zu besetzen, so erteile den Segen auf dem Berge Garizim und den Fluch auf dem Berge Ebal!

And it shall come to pass when Yahweh thy God shall bring thee into the land which thou art entering to possess, then shalt thou put the blessing, upon Mount Gerizim, and the curse, upon Mount Ebal.

30 Liegen sie nicht jenseits des Jordans, westlich der Straße des Sonnenuntergangs, im Land der Kanaaniter, in der Steppe gegenüber Gilgal bei den Maulbeerbäumen?

Are, they, not over the Jordan on the way towards the entering in of the sun, in the land of the Canaanite who dwelleth in the plain over against Gilgal beside the Teacher’s Terebinths?

31 Denn ihr überschreitet den Jordan, um vorzudringen und das Land zu besetzen, das euch der Herr, euer Gott, gibt. Habt ihr es besetzt und besiedelt,

For ye are passing over the Jordan, to enter to possess the land which Yahweh your God, is giving unto you, —so shall ye possess it and dwell therein.

32 dann achtet, all die Gesetze und Gebräuche zu halten, die ich euch heute vorlege!"

Therefore shall ye observe to do all the statutes and the regulations, —which I am setting before you to-day.
