Daniel 3
1 Da ließ König Nebukadrezar ein golden Bild von sechzig Ellen Höhe und sechs Ellen Breite machen und stellte dieses in der Ebene von Dura auf, in der Provinz von Babel.
Nebuchadnezzar the king, made an image of gold, the height thereof, sixty cubits, the breadth thereof, six cubits, —he set it up in the valley of Dura, in the province of Babylon.
2 Dann ließ König Nebukadrezar die Satrapen, Statthalter, Vorgesetzte und Befehlshaber, Schatzmeister, Richter und Beamte sowie die andern Würdenträger der Provinz alle zusammenkommen, damit sie zu der Einweihung des Bildes sich einfänden, das er, König Nebukadrezar, errichten ließ.
And, Nebuchadnezzar the king, sent to gather together the satraps, the nobles and the pashas, the chief judges, the treasurers, the judges, the lawyers, and all the rulers of the province, —to come to the dedication of the image, which Nebuchadnezzar the king, had set up.
3 Und so versammelten sich die Satrapen, Statthalter, Vorgesetzten und Befehlshaber, Schatzmeister, Richter und Beamte, auch all die andern Würdenträger der Provinz zur Einweihung des Bildes, das er, König Nebukadrezar hatte dort erstellen lassen. Sie stellten vor dem Bild sich auf, das dort Nebukadrezar hatte aufzurichten angeordnet.
Then were gathered together, the satraps, the nobles and the pashas, the chief judges, the treasurers, the judges, the lawyers, and all the rulers of the province, to the dedication of the image, which Nebuchadnezzar the king had set up, —and they stood before the image, which Nebuchadnezzar, had set up.
4 Darauf rief laut der Herold aus: "Euch, Völker, Nationen, Zungen wird hiermit verkündet:
And, the herald, proclaimed aloud, —To you, is given the word, O ye peoples, races, and tongues:
5 Sobald ihr die Trompeten, Pfeifen, Zithern, Harfen, Psalter und Sackpfeifen, auch all die anderen Arten von Musik ertönen hört, dann werft euch nieder zu der Anbetung des goldenen Bildes, das er, König Nebukadrezar, hier errichten ließ.
At what time ye shall hear the sound of the horn, the pipe, the lyre, the harp, the psaltery, the bagpipes, and all kinds of instruments of music, ye shall fall down and adore the image of gold, which Nebuchadnezzar the king hath set up;
6 Wer sich jedoch zur Anbetung nicht niederwirft, wird in derselben Stunde noch den Flammen eines Feuerofens übergeben."
and, whosoever shall not fall down and adore, shall, instantly, be cast into the burning furnace of fire.
7 Sobald nun all die Völkerscharen Trompeten, Pfeifen, Zithern, Harfen, Psalter, auch all die anderen Arten von Musik ertönen hörten, warfen sich auf dies hin alle Völker, Nationen, Zungen nieder zur Anbetung des goldenen Bildes, das er, König Nebukadrezar, hatte dort erstellen lassen.
Wherefore, at the same time—when all the peoples heard the sound of the horn, the pipe, the lyre, the harp, the psaltery, and all kinds of instruments of music, they were falling down—even all the peoples, the races, and the tongues, —adoring the image of gold, which Nebuchadnezzar the king, had set up.
8 Da traten alsogleich Chaldäer vor, die Juden anzuklagen.
Wherefore, at the same time, drew near certain Chaldeans, —and accused the Jews:
9 Sie huben an und sprachen zu dem König Nebukadrezar: "König, mögst du ewig leben!
they spake, and said, to Nebuchadnezzar the king: O king! for ages, live!
10 Du gabst, o König, den Befehl: 'Wer die Trompeten, Pfeifen, Zithern, Harfen, Psalter, Sackpfeifen, auch all die anderen Arten von Musik ertönen hört, der soll sich niederwerfen und dies goldene Bild anbeten.
Thou thyself, O king, hast made a decree, that, any man who shall hear the sound of the horn, the pipe, the lyre, the harp, the psaltery and the bagpipes, and all kinds of instruments of music, shall fall down and adore the image of gold;
11 Wer aber sich zur Anbetung nicht niederwirft, der soll den Flammen eines Feuerofens übergeben werden.'
and, whosoever shall not fall down and adore, shall be cast into the burning furnace of fire.
12 Nun sind da diese Juden, die du über die Verwaltung der Provinz von Babel eingesetzt, Sidrach, Misach, Abdenago. Die Männer kümmerten sich nicht um dein Gebot, o König. Denn sie verehren deine Götter nicht und beten auch das goldene Bild nicht an, das du errichten ließest."
There are certain Jews whom thou hast set over the business of the province of Babylon, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, —these men, have made thee, O king, of no account, thy god, they serve not, and, the image of gold which thou hast set up, do they not adore.
13 Darauf befahl Nebukadrezar in Zorn und Grimm, Sidrach, Misach und Abdenago herzuführen. Da brachte man sie vor den König.
Then, Nebuchadnezzar—with anger and wrath, gave word to bring Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, then, these men, brought they before the king.
14 Da hob Nebukadrezar an und sprach zu ihnen:"Habt ihr absichtlich meine Götter nicht verehrt, Sidrach, Misach und Abdenago, und dieses goldene Bild, das ich errichten ließ, nicht angebetet?
Nebuchadnezzar spake and said unto them, Is it, with design, O Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, —that, my god, ye are not serving, and, the image which I have set up, are not adoring?
15 Nun wohl, seid ihr bereit dazu, dann werft euch nieder in dem Augenblick, da ihr Trompeten, Pfeifen, Zithern, Harfen, Psalter, Sackpfeifen und all die anderen Arten von Musik ertönen hört, zur Anbetung des Bildes, das ich errichten ließ! Doch betet ihr's nicht an, dann werdet ihr zur selben Stunde den Flammen eines Feuerofens übergeben werden. Und welchen Gott gäb's dann, der euch aus meiner Hand befreien könnte?"
Now, if ye be ready, at what time ye shall hear the sound of the cornet, the pipe, the lyre, the harp, the psaltery and the bagpipes, and all the instruments of music, ye shall fall down and adore the image which I have made, but, if ye shall not adore, instantly, shall ye be cast into the midst of the burning furnace of fire, —and who is the god that shall deliver you out of my hands?
16 Da hoben Sidrach, Misach sowie Abdenago also an und sprachen zu dem König:"Nebukadrezar! Wir brauchen keine Antwort dir zu geben.
Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego answered, and said to the king: O Nebuchadnezzar! we are not accounting it needful, concerning this, to answer thee.
17 Denn siehe, unser Gott, den wir verehren, hat die Macht, uns aus des Feuerofens Glut zu retten und aus deiner Hand, o König.
If it is, our God, whom we serve, is able to deliver us, —out of the burning furnace of fire, and out of thy hand, O king, he will deliver.
18 Wenn aber nicht, dann werden wir - du König, merk es dir! - doch deine Götter nicht verehren und nicht das goldene Bild, das du gemacht, anbeten."
But, if not, be it known to thee, O king, —that, thy god, will we not serve, and, the image of gold which thou hast set up, will we not adore.
19 Da ward Nebukadrezar von Wut erfüllt, und sein Gesicht ward ganz entstellt ob Sidrach, Misach und Abdenago. Er gab Befehl, den Ofen siebenmal so stark, wie es sonst angemessen war, zu heizen.
Then, Nebuchadnezzar, was filled with wrath, and, the likeness of his countenance, was changed, against Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, —he spake and gave word to heat the furnace seven times hotter than it was ever seen heated;
20 Alsdann gab er Befehl den stärksten Männern seines Heeres, Sidrach und Misach samt dem Abdenago an ihren Füßen fest zu fesseln und in des Feuerofens Glut zu werfen.
and, to men, who were the mightiest men in his army, gave he word to bind fast Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, —to cast them into the burning furnace of fire.
21 Da wurden diese Männer festgebunden, samt den Hosen, Hüten, Mänteln und den anderen Gewändern, und in des Feuerofens Glut geworfen.
Then bound they, these men, in their trousers, their tunics, and their cloaks, and their (other) clothing, —and cast into the midst of the burning furnace of fire.
22 Weil der Befehl des Königs äußerst dringend war, so ward der Ofen übermäßig angeheizt. Da tötete die Feuerflamme jene Männer, die Sidrach, Misach und Abdenago hineingeworfen.
Therefore, because the word of the king had raged forth, and the furnace was exceeding hot, those very men who took up Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, were slain by the flame of the fire;
23 Und jene drei, Sidrach, Misach und Abdenago, sie fielen in des Feuerofens Glut in ihren Fesseln.
and, these three men, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, fell down into the midst of the burning furnace of fire, fast bound.
24 Da ward König Nebukadrezar von Staunen tief ergriffen, stand eilends auf und sprach zu seinen Edlen: "Drei Männer ließen wir gefesselt in das Feuer werfen?" Sie sprachen zu dem König: "Ja, o König."
Then, Nebuchadnezzar the king, was amazed, and rose up in haste: he spake and said to his nearest friends—Were there not three men, we cast into the midst of the fire, fast bound? They answered and said to the king, Surely, O king!
25 Da hob er an und sprach: "Vier Männer seh ich frei im Feuer wandeln, und keinerlei Verletzung ist an ihnen zu bemerken; der vierte aber gleicht im Aussehn einem Sohne Gottes."
He answered and said, Lo! I, see four men, unbound, walking in the midst of the fire, and, injury, there is not in them, and, the appearance of the fourth, is like to a son of the gods!
26 Darauf trat Nebukadrezar zu der Tür des Feuerofens, und er sprach: "Ihr, Sidrach, Misach und Abdenago, des höchsten Gottes Diener, kommt heraus und tretet her!" Da traten sogleich Sidrach, Misach und Abdenago heraus aus jenem Feuer.
Then did Nebuchadnezzar, draw near, to the door of the burning furnace of fire, he spake and said, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, ye servants of the most high God, step forth and come hither. Then stepped forth Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, out of the midst of the fire.
27 Da eilten die Satrapen, Statthalter, die Vorgesetzten und des Königs andere Beamte her und überzeugten sich mit ihren Augen, daß das Feuer den Männern nichts an ihrem Leibe hatte schaden können, daß nicht einmal ein Haar auf ihrem Haupte war versengt, so wenig auch, wie einen Schaden ihre Beinkleider erlitten hatten. Nicht der geringste Feuerschaden hatte sich an sie geheftet.
And—being gathered together—the satraps, the nobles, and the pashas and near friends of the king, saw these men, over whose bodies the fire had, no power, nor was, a hair of their head, singed, neither were, their trousers, disfigured, —nor had, the smell of fire, come upon them.
28 Da hob Nebukadrezar an und sprach: "Gepriesen sei ihr Gott, der Gott des Sidrach, Misach und Abdenago, der seinen Engel hergesandt und seine Diener, die auf ihn vertraut, gerettet hat! Sie übertraten eher den Befehl des Königs und gaben selbst sich preis, damit sie keinen andern Gott verehren und anbeten mußten als nur den ihrigen.
Nebuchadnezzar spake and said, Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, who hath sent his messenger, and delivered his servants, who trusted in him, —when, the word of the king, they transgressed, and delivered up their bodies, that they might not serve nor adore any god, saving their own God.
29 Und so ergeht von mir jetzt der Befehl, daß jeder, welchen Volkes, welcher Nation und Zunge er auch sei, wenn gegen den Gott Sidrachs und den des Misach und des Abdenago er eine Lästerung ausstößt, in Stücke soll zerhauen werden, und daß sein Haus in Trümmer soll gelegt werden! Es gibt ja keinen andern Gott, der solche Rettung wirken könnte."
Therefore do I make a decree, that, whosoever of any people, race, or tongue it be that shall charge any error upon the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, shall be cut in pieces, and, his house, into a dunghill, shall be changed; because there is no other God, who is able to deliver, like this!
30 Hierauf beförderte der König Sidrach, Misach und Abdenago in der Provinz von Babel.
Then, the king, advanced Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, in the province of Babylon.
