Amos 6
1 Weh denen, die sich dort auf Sion sicher fühlen und die sich auf Samarias Berg verlassen, die da der Heidenvölker Bestes zur Aus- und Einfuhr nehmen für das Haus von Israel!
Woe to them that set at nothing Sion, and that trust in the mountain of Samaria: they have gathered [the harvest of] the heads of the nations, and they have gone in themselves.
2 "Nach Kalne geht und schaut euch um! Und zieht von dort her nach dem großen Hamat! Nach Gat in dem Philisterlande geht, ob ihr wohl tapfrer seid als diese Königreiche, ob ihr Gebiet nicht größer als das eure ist!
O house of Israel, pass by all [of you], and see; and pass by thence to Ematrabba; and thence descend to Geth of the Philistines, the chief of all these kingdoms, [see] if their coasts are greater than your coasts.
3 Die ihr den Unglückstag fern wissen möchtet und doch den Sabbat der Gewalt herbeiführt!"
You who are approaching the evil day, who are drawing near and adopting false sabbaths;
4 Gelagert auf den elfenbeingeschmückten Ruhebetten und hingestreckt auf ihre Ruhelager, verzehren sie der Herde Lämmer, die jungen Rinder aus dem Stall.
who sleep upon beds of ivory, and live delicately on their couches, and eat kids out of the flocks, and sucking calves out of the midst of the stalls;
5 Sie gröhlen zu der Zither Klang und musizieren wie verrückt.
who excel in the sound of musical instruments; they have regarded them as dwelling, not as fleeting [pleasures];
6 Sie trinken von dem feinsten Wein und salben sich mit bestem Öl. Jedoch um Josephs Schaden kümmern sie sich nicht.
who drink strained wine, and anoint themselves with the best ointment; and have suffered nothing on occasion of the calamity of Joseph.
7 Sie ziehen deshalb an der Spitze der Gefangnen fort; zu Ende ist der Schwelger Freudenmahl.
Therefore now shall they depart into captivity from the dominion of princes, and the neighing of horses shall be cut off from Ephraim.
8 Geschworen hat der Herr, der Herr, bei sich - ein Spruch des Herrn, des Gottes der Heerscharen -: "Ein Abscheu ist mir Jakobs Prunk; zuwider sind mir seine Schlösser. Ich geb die Stadt samt allem, was darinnen, preis.
For the Lord has sworn by himself, [saying], Because I abhor all the pride of Jacob, I do also hate his countries, and I will cut off [his] city with all who inhabit it.
9 Und blieben noch in einem einzigen Haus zehn Männer übrig, auch diese sollen sterben."
And it shall come to pass, if there be ten men left in one house, that they shall die.
10 Wenn dann der Lieblingssohn und Erbe einen forttragen läßt, um die Gebeine aus dem Haus zu schaffen, und fragt er die, die sich im Hintergrund des Hauses hält: "Ist jemand noch bei dir?" dann sagt sie: "Nein!" und sagt dann noch: "Kein Wort mehr weiter!", weil man des Herren Namen nicht mehr nennen darf.
But a remnant shall be left behind, and their relations shall take them, and shall strenuously endeavor to carry forth their bones from the house: and one shall say to the heads of the house, Is there yet [any one] else with you? And he shall say, No [one] else. And [the other] shall say, Be silent, that you name not the name of the Lord.
11 Denn so, fürwahr, bestimmt's der Herr: Das große Haus schlägt er in Trümmer; das kleine ganz in Stücke.
For, behold, the Lord commands, and he will strike the great house with breaches, and the little house with rents.
12 "Ja, laufen Rosse über Felsen? Kann man mit Stieren Felsen pflügen, daß ihr das Recht in Gift verwandelt, die Früchte der Gerechtigkeit in Wermut?
Will horses run upon rocks? will they refrain from neighing at mares? for you have turned judgment into poison, and the fruit of righteousness into bitterness:
13 Ihr, die ihr über Lodabar euch freut, ihr, die ihr sagt: 'Ja, haben wir dem nicht durch unsre Kraft Karnajim uns erobert?'
you who rejoice at vanity, who say, Have we not possessed horns by our own strength?
14 Fürwahr, ich lasse wider euch, du Haus von Israel", ein Spruch des Herrn, des Gottes der Heerscharen, "ein Volk erstehn, das euch bedrängt vom Weg nach Hamat bis zum Weidenbach."
For behold, O house of Israel, I will raise up against you a nation, says the Lord of hosts; and they shall afflict you so that you shall not enter into Aemath, and as it were [from] the river of the wilderness.
