Apostelgeschichte 13

1 In der Gemeinde zu Antiochien gab es Propheten und Lehrer: Barnabas, Symeon, genannt Niger, Lucius von Cyrene, Manahen, ein Milchbruder des Vierfürsten Herodes, und Saul.

Now there were in the church that was at Antioch certain prophets and teachers; as Barnabas, and Simeon that was called Niger, and Lucius of Cyrene, and Manaen, which had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch, and Saul.

2 Während sie dem Herrn den heiligen Dienst verrichteten und fasteten, sprach der Heilige Geist: "Sondert mir den Barnabas und Saul für die Aufgabe aus, zu der ich sie berufen habe."

As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them.

3 Hierauf fasteten und beteten sie, legten ihnen die Hände auf und entließen sie.

And when they had fasted and prayed, and laid [their] hands on them, they sent [them] away.

4 Ausgesandt vom Heiligen Geiste, wanderten sie nach Seleuzia hinab, segelten von da nach Cypern

So they, being sent forth by the Holy Ghost, departed unto Seleucia; and from thence they sailed to Cyprus.

5 und kamen dann nach Salamis. Dort verkündeten sie das Wort Gottes in den jüdischen Synagogen. Als Gehilfen hatten sie Johannes bei sich.

And when they were at Salamis, they preached the word of God in the synagogues of the Jews: and they had also John to [their] minister.

6 Sie durchwanderten die ganze Insel bis nach Paphus, wo sie einen jüdischen Zauberer und Lügenpropheten mit dem Namen Barjesus trafen.

And when they had gone through the isle unto Paphos, they found a certain sorcerer, a false prophet, a Jew, whose name [was] Bar-jesus:

7 Er war in der Umgebung des Prokonsuls Sergius Paulus, eines ganz verständigen Mannes. Dieser ließ Barnabas und Saul zu sich kommen und verlangte danach, das Wort Gottes zu hören.

Which was with the deputy of the country, Sergius Paulus, a prudent man; who called for Barnabas and Saul, and desired to hear the word of God.

8 Doch Elymas, der Zauberer - so wird sein Name übersetzt -, trat ihnen entgegen und suchte den Prokonsul vom Glauben abzuhalten.

But Elymas the sorcerer (for so is his name by interpretation) withstood them, seeking to turn away the deputy from the faith.

9 Saul aber, der auch Paulus heißt, ward erfüllt vom Heiligen Geiste, blickte ihn scharf an

Then Saul, (who also [is called] Paul, ) filled with the Holy Ghost, set his eyes on him,

10 und sprach: "O du, voll Bosheit und Arglist jeder Art, du Sohn des Teufels, Feind jeglicher Gerechtigkeit. Willst du nicht aufhören, die geraden Wege des Herrn zu verwirren?

And said, O full of all subtilty and all mischief, [thou] child of the devil, [thou] enemy of all righteousness, wilt thou not cease to pervert the right ways of the Lord?

11 Siehe, die Hand des Herrn kommt jetzt über dich; du sollst blind sein und die Sonne eine Zeitlang nicht mehr sehen können." Sogleich umfing ihn Dunkel und Finsternis, er tastete umher und suchte nach jemand, der ihn führen würde.

And now, behold, the hand of the Lord [is] upon thee, and thou shalt be blind, not seeing the sun for a season. And immediately there fell on him a mist and a darkness; and he went about seeking some to lead him by the hand.

12 Als der Prokonsul den Vorfall sah, wurde er gläubig, ganz ergriffen von der Lehre des Herrn.

Then the deputy, when he saw what was done, believed, being astonished at the doctrine of the Lord.

13 Von Paphus fuhren Paulus und seine Gefährten nach Perge in Pamphylien. Johannes aber trennte sich von ihnen und kehrte nach Jerusalem zurück.

Now when Paul and his company loosed from Paphos, they came to Perga in Pamphylia: and John departing from them returned to Jerusalem.

14 Sie zogen von Perge aus weiter und kamen nach Antiochien in Pisidien. Am Sabbat gingen sie in die Synagoge und nahmen Platz.

But when they departed from Perga, they came to Antioch in Pisidia, and went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and sat down.

15 Nachdem aus dem Gesetz und den Propheten vorgelesen war, ließen ihnen die Synagogenvorsteher sagen: "Liebe Brüder! Wenn ihr einige erbauliche Worte an das Volk zu richten habt, so redet!"

And after the reading of the law and the prophets the rulers of the synagogue sent unto them, saying, [Ye] men [and] brethren, if ye have any word of exhortation for the people, say on.

16 Da erhob sich Paulus, winkte mit der Hand und sprach: "Ihr Männer Israels und ihr, die ihr Gott fürchtet, höret!

Then Paul stood up, and beckoning with [his] hand said, Men of Israel, and ye that fear God, give audience.

17 Der Schutzgott unseres Volkes Israel hat unsere Väter auserwählt und hat das Volk in der Fremde, im Ägypterland, vermehrt; mit hocherhobenem Arme hat er sie von dort herausgeführt.

The God of this people of Israel chose our fathers, and exalted the people when they dwelt as strangers in the land of Egypt, and with an high arm brought he them out of it.

18 An vierzig Jahre ertrug er sie in der Wüste.

And about the time of forty years suffered he their manners in the wilderness.

19 Sieben Völker vernichtete er im Lande Kanaan und gab ihnen deren Land zum Besitze

And when he had destroyed seven nations in the land of Chanaan, he divided their land to them by lot.

20 nach ungefähr vierhundertfünfzig Jahren. Dann gab er ihnen Richter bis auf den Propheten Samuel.

And after that he gave [unto them] judges about the space of four hundred and fifty years, until Samuel the prophet.

21 Alsdann begehrten sie sich einen König, und Gott gab ihnen Saul, den Sohn des Kis, den Mann vom Stamme Benjamin, auf vierzig Jahre.

And afterward they desired a king: and God gave unto them Saul the son of Cis, a man of the tribe of Benjamin, by the space of forty years.

22 Nachdem er ihn verworfen hatte, erweckte er ihnen David als König. Von ihm bezeugte er: 'Gefunden habe ich David, Jesses Sohn, einen Mann nach meinem Herzen; er wird in allem meinen Willen treu erfüllen.'

And when he had removed him, he raised up unto them David to be their king; to whom also he gave testimony, and said, I have found David the [son] of Jesse, a man after mine own heart, which shall fulfil all my will.

23 Aus dessen Nachkommen ließ Gott, so wie es verheißen war, einen Retter für Israel auferstehen, Jesus.

Of this man’s seed hath God according to [his] promise raised unto Israel a Saviour, Jesus:

24 Johannes hatte schon vor seinem Auftreten dem ganzen Volke Israel die Bußtaufe verkündigt.

When John had first preached before his coming the baptism of repentance to all the people of Israel.

25 Bevor jedoch Johannes seinen Lauf vollendete, sprach er: 'Ich bin nicht der, für den ihr mich haltet. Erst nach mir kommt er; ich bin's nicht wert, ihm die Schuhe von den Füßen aufzubinden.'

And as John fulfilled his course, he said, Whom think ye that I am? I am not [he]. But, behold, there cometh one after me, whose shoes of [his] feet I am not worthy to loose.

26 Liebe Brüder, Söhne aus dem Geschlechte Abrahams, sowie ihr anderen, die ihr Gott fürchtet! An uns ist diese Heilsbotschaft ergangen.

Men [and] brethren, children of the stock of Abraham, and whosoever among you feareth God, to you is the word of this salvation sent.

27 Denn die Bewohner von Jerusalem und ihre Vorsteher erkannten ihn Jesus nicht: sie brachten vielmehr die Stimmen der Propheten, die jeden Sabbat verlesen werden, durch ihren Richterspruch zur Erfüllung.

For they that dwell at Jerusalem, and their rulers, because they knew him not, nor yet the voices of the prophets which are read every sabbath day, they have fulfilled [them] in condemning [him].

28 Obgleich sie keine Todesschuld an ihm gefunden hatten, verlangten sie doch von Pilatus, daß er getötet werden solle.

And though they found no cause of death [in him], yet desired they Pilate that he should be slain.

29 Als sie dann all das, was über ihn geschrieben stand, erfüllt hatten, nahm man ihn vom Holze ab und legte ihn ins Grab.

And when they had fulfilled all that was written of him, they took [him] down from the tree, and laid [him] in a sepulchre.

30 Doch Gott erweckte ihn am dritten Tage von den Toten.

But God raised him from the dead:

31 Und er erschien durch eine Reihe Tage denen, die mit ihm von Galiläa nach Jerusalem hinaufgezogen waren; sie sind jetzt seine Zeugen vor dem Volke.

And he was seen many days of them which came up with him from Galilee to Jerusalem, who are his witnesses unto the people.

32 Und wir verkünden euch die frohe Botschaft, daß Gott jetzt die Verheißung, die er einst den Vätern gegeben hatte,

And we declare unto you glad tidings, how that the promise which was made unto the fathers,

33 an uns, den Kindern, erfüllt hat, dadurch, daß er Jesus auferweckte. So steht es auch im zweiten Psalm geschrieben: 'Mein Sohn bist Du, heute habe ich Dich gezeugt.'

God hath fulfilled the same unto us their children, in that he hath raised up Jesus again; as it is also written in the second psalm, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee.

34 Und daß er ihn von den Toten auferweckte, damit er nicht der Verwesung überliefert würde, das sprach er also aus: 'Die unverbrüchlichen Heilsgüter Davids will ich euch verleihen.'

And as concerning that he raised him up from the dead, [now] no more to return to corruption, he said on this wise, I will give you the sure mercies of David.

35 So sagte er auch an einer anderen Stelle: 'Du wirst Deinen Heiligen nicht erfahren lassen die Verwesung.'

Wherefore he saith also in another [psalm], Thou shalt not suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.

36 Doch David starb, nachdem er dem Willen Gottes in seiner Zeit gedient hatte. Er ward zu seinen Vätern versammelt und erfuhr an sich die Verwesung.

For David, after he had served his own generation by the will of God, fell on sleep, and was laid unto his fathers, and saw corruption:

37 Der aber, den Gott von den Toten auferweckte, hat die Verwesung nicht erfahren.

But he, whom God raised again, saw no corruption.

38 So wisset denn, ihr Brüder, daß euch durch diesen Nachlaß der Sünden verkündet wird. Von allem, wovon ihr durch das Gesetz des Moses nicht habt gerechtfertigt werden können,

Be it known unto you therefore, men [and] brethren, that through this man is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins:

39 wird in diesem jeder, der da glaubt, gerechtfertigt.

And by him all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses.

40 Darum seht wohl zu, daß über euch nicht das komme, was bei den Propheten gesagt ist:

Beware therefore, lest that come upon you, which is spoken of in the prophets;

41 'Seht, ihr Verächter, staunt und vergeht; ein Werk vollbringe ich in euren Tagen, ein Werk, das ihr nicht glauben würdet, wenn einer es euch nur erzählte.'

Behold, ye despisers, and wonder, and perish: for I work a work in your days, a work which ye shall in no wise believe, though a man declare it unto you.

42 Als sie hinausgingen, bat man sie, sie möchten am nächsten Sabbat wieder über diesen Gegenstand reden.

And when the Jews were gone out of the synagogue, the Gentiles besought that these words might be preached to them the next sabbath.

43 Dann löste sich die Versammlung auf. Viele Juden und gottesfürchtige Proselyten folgten dem Paulus und dem Barnabas. Diese redeten ihnen eindringlich zu, in der Gnade Gottes zu verharren.

Now when the congregation was broken up, many of the Jews and religious proselytes followed Paul and Barnabas: who, speaking to them, persuaded them to continue in the grace of God.

44 Am folgenden Sabbat fand sich fast die ganze Stadt ein, um das Wort Gottes zu hören.

And the next sabbath day came almost the whole city together to hear the word of God.

45 Da nun die Juden die Scharen sahen, wurden sie voll Eifersucht; sie widersprachen dem, was Paulus sagte, und stießen Schmähungen aus.

But when the Jews saw the multitudes, they were filled with envy, and spake against those things which were spoken by Paul, contradicting and blaspheming.

46 Paulus und Barnabas aber erklärten voll Freimut: "Euch mußte das Wort Gottes zuerst gepredigt werden. Doch weil ihr es zurückweist und euch des ewigen Lebens selbst nicht würdig achtet, so wenden wir uns an die Heiden. (aiōnios g166)

Then Paul and Barnabas waxed bold, and said, It was necessary that the word of God should first have been spoken to you: but seeing ye put it from you, and judge yourselves unworthy of everlasting life, lo, we turn to the Gentiles. (aiōnios g166)

47 Denn also hat der Herr uns anbefohlen: 'Ich habe dich zum Lichte für die Heiden bestimmt, daß du zum Heile seist bis an die Grenzen der Erde.'"

For so hath the Lord commanded us, [saying], I have set thee to be a light of the Gentiles, that thou shouldest be for salvation unto the ends of the earth.

48 Als dies die Heiden hörten, freuten sie sich und priesen das Wort des Herrn. Alle, die für das ewige Leben bestimmt waren, wurden gläubig. (aiōnios g166)

And when the Gentiles heard this, they were glad, and glorified the word of the Lord: and as many as were ordained to eternal life believed. (aiōnios g166)

49 Das Wort des Herrn aber verbreitete sich in jener ganzen Gegend.

And the word of the Lord was published throughout all the region.

50 Die Juden indessen hetzten die vornehmen gottesfürchtigen Frauen und die angesehensten Männer der Stadt auf, erregten eine Verfolgung gegen Paulus und Barnabas und vertrieben sie aus ihrem Gebiet.

But the Jews stirred up the devout and honourable women, and the chief men of the city, and raised persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and expelled them out of their coasts.

51 Diese aber schüttelten den Staub von ihren Füßen gegen sie und begaben sich nach Ikonium.

But they shook off the dust of their feet against them, and came unto Iconium.

52 Die Jünger aber waren voll Freude und voll Heiligen Geistes.

And the disciples were filled with joy, and with the Holy Ghost.
