Apostelgeschichte 10
1 In Cäsarea lebte ein Mann namens Kornelius, Hauptmann in der so genannten Italischen Kohorte.
Futhermore there was a certaine man in Cesarea called Cornelius, a captaine of the band called the Italian band,
2 Er war samt seinem ganzen Hause fromm und gottesfürchtig, gab dem Volke reichlich Almosen und betete unablässig zu Gott.
A deuoute man, and one that feared God with all his housholde, which gaue much almes to the people, and prayed God continually.
3 Es war um die neunte Tagesstunde, da sah er ganz deutlich in einem Gesichte, wie ein Engel Gottes zu ihm hereinkam und zu ihm sprach: "Kornelius!"
He sawe in a vision euidently (about the ninth houre of the day) an Angel of God comming in to him, and saying vnto him, Cornelius.
4 Er aber schaute ihn starr an und fragte voll Furcht: "Was, o Herr?" Er antwortete ihm: "Deine Gebete und deine Almosen sind emporgestiegen zu Gott als Gedächtnisopfer.
But when hee looked on him, hee was afrayd, and sayd, What is it, Lord? and he sayd vnto him, Thy prayers and thine almes are come vp into remembrance before God.
5 Doch jetzt sende Männer nach Joppe und laß den Simon holen, der auch Petrus heißt.
Nowe therefore send men to Ioppa, and call for Simon, whose surname is Peter.
6 Er ist zu Gast bei einem Gerber namens Simon, der am Meer ein Haus besitzt" Der wird dir sagen, was du tun sollst.
Hee lodgeth with one Simon a Tanner, whose house is by the sea side: he shall tell thee what thou oughtest to doe.
7 Der Engel, der mit ihm geredet hatte, verschwand. Er rief zwei seiner Sklaven und einen gottesfürchtigen Soldaten aus seiner ständigen Umgebung,
And when the Angel which spake vnto Cornelius, was departed, he called two of his seruants, and a souldier that feared God, one of them that waited on him,
8 setzte ihnen alles auseinander und schickte sie nach Joppe.
And tolde them all things, and sent them to Ioppa.
9 Am anderen Tag, während jene noch unterwegs waren und sich der Stadt näherten, stieg Petrus auf das Dach, um zu beten. Es war um die sechste Stunde.
On the morow as they went on their iourney, and drew neere vnto the citie, Peter went vp vpon the house to pray, about the sixt houre.
10 Er war hungrig und wünschte zu essen. Während man zurichtete, kam über ihn eine Verzückung:
Then waxed hee an hungred, and would haue eaten: but while they made some thing ready, he fell into a trance.
11 Er schaute den Himmel offen und ein Behältnis wie ein großes Linnentuch herabkommen, das an den vier Enden auf die Erde herabgelassen wurde.
And hee sawe heauen opened, and a certaine vessell come downe vnto him, as it had bene a great sheete, knit at the foure corners, and was let downe to the earth.
12 In ihm befanden sich alle vierfüßigen und kriechenden Tiere der Erde und Vögel des Himmels.
Wherein were all maner of foure footed beastes of the earth, and wilde beastes and creeping things, and foules of the heauen.
13 Eine Stimme rief ihm zu: "Steh auf, Petrus, schlachte und iß!"
And there came a voyce to him, Arise, Peter: kill, and eate.
14 Petrus erwiderte: "Nein, Herr! Noch nie habe ich etwas Gemeines und Unreines gegessen."
But Peter sayd, Not so, Lord: for I haue neuer eaten any thing that is polluted, or vncleane.
15 Zum zweitenmal rief es ihm zu: "Was Gott gereinigt hat, sollst du nicht gemein heißen."
And the voyce spake vnto him againe the second time, The things that God hath purified, pollute thou not.
16 Das geschah dreimal. Gleich darauf wurde das Behältnis wieder in den Himmel emporgehoben
This was so done thrise: and the vessell was drawen vp againe into heauen.
17 Während Petrus noch überlegte, was das Gesicht, das er gesehen hatte, zu bedeuten habe, standen die Leute, die Kornelius abgesandt und die sich zum Hause des Simon bereits durchgefragt hatten, am Tore.
Nowe while Peter douted in himselfe what this vision which he had seene, meant, beholde, the men which were sent from Cornelius, had inquired for Simons house, and stoode at the gate,
18 Sie riefen und fragten, ob hier ein Simon mit dem Beinamen Petrus wohne.
And called, and asked, whether Simon, which was surnamed Peter, were lodged there.
19 Petrus dachte immer noch über das Gesicht nach. Da sprach der Geist zu ihm: "Drei Männer suchen dich.
And while Peter thought on the vision, the Spirit sayde vnto him, Beholde, three men seeke thee.
20 Steh auf und geh hinab und zieh mit ihnen ohne irgendein Bedenken; denn ich habe sie gesandt."
Arise therefore, and get thee downe, and goe with them, and doute nothing: For I haue sent them.
21 Da ging Petrus zu den Leuten hinunter und sprach zu ihnen: "Ich bin es, den ihr suchet. Was führt euch hierher?"
Then Peter went downe to the men, which were sent vnto him from Cornelius, and sayd, Beholde, I am he whome ye seeke: what is the cause wherefore ye are come?
22 Sie antworteten ihm: "Kornelius, der Hauptmann, ein rechtlicher und gottesfürchtiger Mann, der bei der ganzen jüdischen Bevölkerung in gutem Rufe steht, ward von einem heiligen Engel angewiesen, dich in sein Haus zu holen und von dir Belehrung zu empfangen."
And they sayd, Cornelius the captaine, a iust man, and one that feareth God, and of good report among all the nation of the Iewes, was warned from heauen by an holy Angel, to send for thee into his house, and to heare thy wordes.
23 Da lud er sie ein und beherbergte sie. Am folgenden Tage machte er sich auf und zog mit ihnen fort; einige der Brüder aus Joppe begleiteten ihn.
Then called he them in, and lodged them, and the next day, Peter went foorth with them, and certaine brethren from Ioppa accompanied him.
24 Am anderen Tag langte er in Cäsarea an. Kornelius erwartete sie und hatte seine Verwandten und vertrauten Freunde eingeladen.
And the day after, they entred into Cesarea. Nowe Cornelius waited for them, and had called together his kinsemen, and special friends.
25 Als Petrus eintrat, ging ihm Kornelius entgegen, fiel ihm zu Füßen und begrüßte ihn.
And it came to passe as Peter came in, that Cornelius met him, and fell downe at his feete, and worshipped him.
26 Petrus aber hob ihn auf und sprach: "Steh auf! Auch ich bin nur ein Mensch."
But Peter tooke him vp, saying, Stand vp: for euen I my selfe am a man.
27 Im Gespräch mit ihm trat er ein und fand viele Leute versammelt.
And as he talked with him, he came in, and found many that were come together.
28 Da sprach er zu ihnen: "Ihr wisset wohl, daß es einem Juden nicht erlaubt ist, mit einem Nichtjuden näher zu verkehren oder zu ihm zu gehen. Doch mir hat Gott gezeigt, daß man keinen Menschen gemein und unrein nennen darf.
And he sayd vnto them, Ye know that it is an vnlawfull thing for a man that is a Iewe, to company, or come vnto one of another nation: but God hath shewed me, that I should not call any man polluted, or vncleane.
29 Ich bin deshalb ohne irgendein Bedenken mitgegangen, als ihr mich rufen ließet. Ich möchte aber doch nun wissen, warum ihr mich habt rufen lassen."
Therefore came I vnto you without saying nay, when I was sent for. I aske therefore, for what intent haue ye sent for me?
30 Kornelius erwiderte: "Gerade vor vier Tagen, auf die Stunde hin, da betete ich in meinem Hause um die neunte Stunde. Und siehe, da stand ein Mann vor mir in glänzend weißem Kleide
Then Cornelius sayd, Foure dayes agoe, about this houre, I fasted, and at the ninth houre I prayed in mine house, and beholde, a man stood before me in bright clothing,
31 und sprach: 'Kornelius! Dein Gebet ist erhört und deiner Almosen ward vor Gott gedacht.
And sayd, Cornelius, thy prayer is heard, and thine almes are had in remembrance in the sight of God.
32 Schick hin nach Joppe und laß Simon rufen, der auch Petrus heißt; er weilt als Gast im Hause des Gerbers Simon dicht am Meer.'
Send therefore to Ioppa, and call for Simon, whose surname is Peter (he is lodged in the house of Simon a Tanner by the sea side) who when he commeth, shall speake vnto thee.
33 Und sogleich sandte ich zu dir, und du hast recht getan, daß du gekommen bist. Jetzt sind wir alle hier vor Gott versammelt, um zu hören, was dir vom Herrn aufgetragen ist."
Then sent I for thee immediately, and thou hast well done to come. Nowe therefore are we all here present before God, to heare all things that are commanded thee of God.
34 Da tat Petrus seinen Mund auf und sprach: "Nunmehr begreife ich in Wahrheit, daß Gott nicht auf die Person sieht,
Then Peter opened his mouth, and sayd, Of a trueth I perceiue, that God is no accepter of persons.
35 daß ihm vielmehr in jedem Volke der angenehm ist, der ihn fürchtet und Gerechtigkeit übt.
But in euery nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousnesse, is accepted with him.
36 Das Wort hat er den Kindern Israels gesandt, indem er Frieden verkündigte durch Jesus Christus; dieser ist der Herr aller.
Ye know the worde which God hath sent to the children of Israel, preaching peace by Iesus Christ, which is Lord of all:
37 Ihr kennt die Begebenheiten, die sich im ganzen Judenland zugetragen haben: In Galiläa fing er an nach der Taufe, die Johannes verkündete;
Euen the worde which came through all Iudea, beginning in Galile, after the baptisme which Iohn preached.
38 ich meine Jesus von Nazareth, den Gott mit dem Heiligen Geist und mit Wunderkraft gesalbt hat, der dann umhergezogen ist, Wohltaten spendete und alle vom Teufel Besessenen geheilt hat; Gott war ja mit ihm.
To wit, howe God anointed Iesus of Nazareth with the holy Ghost, and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the deuill: for God was with him.
39 Wir sind von all dem Zeugen, was er im Judenland und in Jerusalem gewirkt hat. Man hat ihn zwar getötet, indem man ihn ans Holz gehängt hat.
And we are witnesses of all things which he did both in the land of the Iewes, and in Hierusalem, whom they slewe, hanging him on a tree.
40 Gott aber hat ihn am dritten Tag auferweckt und sichtbar werden lassen,
Him God raysed vp the third day, and caused that he was shewed openly:
41 zwar nicht dem ganzen Volke, doch den von Gott vorbestimmten Zeugen, uns, die wir nach seiner Auferstehung von den Toten mit ihm zusammen gesessen und getrunken haben.
Not to all the people, but vnto the witnesses chosen before of God, euen to vs which did eate and drinke with him, after he arose from the dead.
42 Er hat uns aufgetragen, dem Volke zu verkünden und zu bezeugen, daß er der von Gott bestellte Richter über Lebendige und Tote ist.
And he commanded vs to preach vnto the people, and to testifie, that it is he that is ordained of God a iudge of quicke and dead.
43 Von ihm bezeugen alle Propheten, daß jeder, der an ihn glaubt, durch seinen Namen Nachlaß der Sünden empfangen wird."
To him also giue all the Prophets witnesse, that through his Name all that beleeue in him, shall receiue remission of sinnes.
44 Während Petrus noch so redete, kam der Heilige Geist auf alle herab, die die Predigt hörten.
While Peter yet spake these wordes, the holy Ghost fell on al them which heard the word.
45 Die Gläubigen aus der Beschneidung, die mit Petrus gekommen waren, wunderten sich, daß auch über die Heiden die Gabe des Heiligen Geistes ausgegossen wurde;
So they of the circumcision which beleeued, were astonied, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was powred out the gift of the holy Ghost.
46 denn sie hörten, wie sie in Sprachen redeten und Gott lobpriesen. Da sprach Petrus:
For they heard them speake with tongues, and magnifie God. Then answered Peter,
47 "Kann man das Wasser der Taufe denen versagen, die gleich uns den Heiligen Geist empfangen haben?"
Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which haue receiued the holy Ghost, as well as we?
48 So ließ er sie denn im Namen Jesu Christi taufen. Hierauf baten sie ihn, noch einige Tage dazubleiben.
So he commanded them to be baptized in the Name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tary certaine dayes.
